  1. Can you dm me the file to take a look at? Also what version and build of Spotlight are you using (build number can be found in the Help menu about section)
  2. @Wesley Burrows Thanks for the bump I'll bump the bug report
  3. @ChollyO Thanks for bringing this to my attention, The whole VW library structure was reorganized to make it easier to find stuff and updating the cable tools videos to show this was missed. I'll add it to the cable tools video updates that need to be made After the reorganization the new location is Entertainment>Cable Tools (styles)>Cable.vwx there are 4 top level folders Data, Feeder, Jumper and Multi, each sub divided into specific cable types Yes styles are red because styles are classed as plug in objects.
  4. Sound Acoustics along with several other audio manufacturers are looking at adding MVR as the new standard file type to import venue and event plans. This process is still at an early stage but so far it looks like a really promising.
  5. @ChollyO@Mike Wright@jbielsker The cable path's behavior has changed since the cable path video was created, I will organize getting an updated video made for it. In the mean time the 2 main changes are that the ability to exit the cable path before its end is now controlled using a modifier key, hold (on PC ) Alt or (on MAC)Option Paths behave much better when you use a single path for each main loom, without connecting branches or multiple paths joined together.
  6. Another option would be to again turn of the automatic classing but instead of a script use saved views to control the active class. These views can then be saved into your template file so they are always available.
  7. Hi Wood I'll put the enhancement requests in for both the hoist related ideas, They are both needed features and would be a big help in other scenario's as well. You can do this by using the simplified geometry and turning of the est of the trusses geometry to eliminate the extra snapping points (Rigging-Truss-Truss) when inserting a light or other object hover the mouse just close enough tot he truss that the blue preview outline triggers but no the red auto-connect highlight, the object should then connect correct without snapping to the trusses center line or and odd location such as a diagonal brace. Another option is to use the align and distribute tool in the lighting tool set, which can be used with any load objects not just lighting devices.
  8. Hi Simon Is there anything that it could possibly snap too that is not visible? Can you send me a email with the file so I can take a look Gruße Jesse
  9. Ah I've just retested this workaround and it looks like it no longer works, sorry for the mistake. Instead you will have to add a point load to represent the load of the pipe acting on the angled truss.
  10. Currently this is a basic limitation of Braceworks, the reason behind it is that none of the clamp manufacturers could or would provide us with structural data for how the clamps behaved when not used horizontally. There is a work around (kinda), create a hanging position combing the truss and attached pipes, this will enable it to calculate, though I'm not 100% sure about how accurate the calculation will be
  11. If the library symbol is bugged the process for fixing it is the same as described above.
  12. In my own experience when I was still working directly on shows and events, previs was essential for show and especially moving light programming. Frequently there just isn't enough time onsite for more than minor updating and corrections in your console programming. As long as your original venue plan and lighting plot are accurate, previs saves an enormous amount of onsite time and stress. Saying that there will always be some tweaking and changes that have to be made on site, its very rare that a venue model will be fully accurate and there will almost always be minor differences between the CAD plan of the rig and how it is actually built by the on site crew, especially in small and medium scale touring scenarios. It isn't a black and white paradigm, its dependent on the sort of show you are programing (touring, theater, event, etc...), the size of the lighting system, the complexity of the cue's and looks, and the available lighting fixtures.
  13. There is a VE already for this, I'll add you both to it
  14. Hi Wesley there's no other control for this currently that I'm aware of but you could use the repeat last command feature of the right click context menus to open the Spotlight preferences, after opening them the first time, or add them into the right click menu with the workspace editor, this would save a bit of time accessing the settings
  15. This sounds like a regression bug, I'll have a look and let you know what I find.
  16. When you have a consistently reproducible crash like this please make sure to open a bug report and include the steps to reproduce the problem. This will really help or developers fix the underlying issue. Thanks
  17. Normally the only reason these commands don't show up is if you don't have a Braceworks license, but since the Braceworks menu is displaying you should have Braceworks. I'm sorry but this is not something that I can help with here on the forum, please contact the US tech support Either use the link below https://www.vectorworks.net/support/help or phone 443-542-0411 or email tech@vectorworks.net
  18. you need to edit the symbol definition in the resource manager, by right clicking on it
  19. @Cristiano Alves to answer your first question currently bridle parts do not document their own weight, so there are 2 ways to deal with this, The easiest is to increase the safety factor for the rigging category to take this into account The second option is a bit more work but is more accurate, add a point load for each dead-hangs weight directly under the dead-hang. I'm currently working on a Bridle toolset learning path for the Vectorworks University to help address this . What have you set the 'Default Bridle Parameter' to in the Bridle preferences?
  20. All the Braceworks calculation commands should be in the Braceworks menu, the top 4 options in the menu Calculate all objects Calculate load combinations Calculate visible Calculate selection Are you using a custom workspace?
  21. The Vectorworks Nomad app has a lidar scanning feature that create room layouts and point clouds.
  22. This is a known issue and has been brought to the dev teams attention. As far as I can tell it is a display issue and doesn't affect the Braceworks calculation results. I'll bump the bug report
  23. The system check command doesn't do a braceworks calculation, it only checks that the system is ready for calculation by looking for errors like disconnected hoists or lights. You need to run a full Braceworks calculation for the system to calculate the loads on each hoist and hanging point.
  24. I've had a look through you file and have figured out what is going on, After I cleared the calculation results and ran a full Braceworks calculation, not the check system command the truss calculates correctly. The check system command is not a full Braceworks calculation, its meant to be used to check whether your system is ready for a Braceworks calculation by looking for unsupported elements, disconnected hoists and other 'physical' errors in the system, that would prevent the system from calculating. This means the command will not do any force/weight calculations or produce any results related to them, such as force lines, hoist loading and heatmaps.
  25. Can you DM me the file so I can take a look?
