  1. Thanks EJ. I'm not sure thats what I had in mind. I've drawn the floor plan and all the walls are in 3D except when looking at top view. I would like to keep the top view as a 2D floor plan layer add a 3D room sheet layer over it and have the 2D floor plan move with the 3D room. The only way I have come up with, is to reduce another D layer copy to 0" ?Z and use that. It is time consuming to make all the windows, doors, toilets and cabinets to 0 height.
  2. In settings. Try going to the "View" tab and change the 3D Detail Level to Medium or High.
  3. Thanks Mike ! I added the missing features to the symbol as you wrote. And the problem is history. Although this is a time consuming solution it never the less works. Thanks again.
  4. Thanks mike, I created a 3D symbol and iserted it into the wall and it won't fill in between the arches. Unless I'm misunderstanding you. I thought if we made a 3D symbol it would cut into the wall or do I need to create a 3d wall symbol to replace the wall?
  5. Thanks EJ. It's been that way for along ime. I guess I've been to busy fishen them thar trout.-Mike
  6. I'm making a wall opening with 3 arches at the top. When I make the symbol it looks right and it cuts the wall correctly, but when viewed in 3D with textures the openning is more if a rectangle. The arches are not filled in between. Am I missing something here or is this one of those things that's to complicated.
  7. It helps to know a little about your computer and system when you post.-Mike
  8. I let the program develope the roof and not bad for 2D. Had to change a few ridge lines and valleys. When I changed it to 3D what a suprise. Ridges that intersect into other ridges that are taller have open ends showing. Roof surfaces that end in a wall are at different slopes than the slope its connected to. Trying to change these slopes and reconnect them is near impossible. There seems to be no easy way to adjust 3D over multiple planes. I ungrouped everything, trying to make adjustments and can make minor changes. Now when I try to move the roof surfaces I get the dialog "Could not create roof, the house drawing is to complex to create roof". I'm trying to cover a 9500sf Tuscan home with multiple levels and it is complex.
  9. Again Thank You Peter. It's that GROUP thing again! Should of asked for help a day ago. I thought we had better control over roof designs. I figured it was all in the programing. Thanks again! -Mike
  10. I have a complex roof that I'm not having any luck in altering. When in the 3d tool I get handles but no handles along the ridge lines. I need to raise a ridge to meet another and cannot do it. If I try to raise the roof face to slope up on the other side. I Get the "Roof is to Complicated". If I change the other side to "Gable End", I Get the "Roof is to Complicated". I need to remove this slope or alter it in some way. Any ideas on what I'm missing. If I had handles were on the ridge I think I could alter it to what I need.
  11. Ok. I have adjusted opacity on many different layers and I don't see any difference. What does this do and where does it do it? -Mike
  12. Thanks Christiaan, Good idea but I don't have the time to learn a new software program for this project. I have noticed this line is appearing on all my doors but it's worse on the overhead doors. I was hoping to have a solution in VW.
  13. Gary, has anyone given you an answer to this or have a work around. I'm having the same problem and have not found an answer.
  14. I've noticed that thw windows version of VW has more color in the workspace areas. There seems to be virtually no color on the mac version. All the palettes blend into each other. Is there a way to color at least the title bars to make navigating to the different palettes easier? [ 03-23-2006, 03:52 PM: Message edited by: MT Const. Serv. ]
  15. Thanks Robert, I've flipped every which way possible. I made it work by tweaking the symbol so it has the outline of the next object on it. It looks close to one overlapping the next. Instead of the previous overlapping the next. Robert, Thanks for all you do! you have to have a tough job.
  16. Tried that. It flips the entire line, the image is still pasted behind the first. I would like each item to be in front of the first along the line. If you make a square symbol and use it in repetitive unit the original symbol is the first one and all the others are behind it. I am assuming from Roberts response there is nothing that can be done.
  17. I made a roof tile that when I make a repetitive line it pastes each consecutive unit behind the first. Can the view be changed to paste in the front?
  18. When I use the Repetitive Unit all I get is a straight line. Any thoughts? I'm in top/plan and have used the Batt Insulation tool and it works. Assuming it is a similar tool.
  19. Thanks, I thought it may have been finally updated and I just didn't know it. Yes it's still a two step process. Just hopeing.
  20. Did I miss something? I've searched for information on the Break Line tool not clipping the surface to which it is applied. And there doesn't seem to be any new topics on this subject. Has this been fixed and I'm the last to know?

  22. Thanks Peter; That was better, a few mouse clicks and it was finished. The lines still show when rendered. (I need to make it invisible) And it crashed the program. It seems to be on the right path tho. Thanks for the tip. I'll keep working on it.
  23. Robert, is there away to make a window a cased opening thats invisible? I tried using a 0 line weight but it's still there. This way you could duplicate a wall, turn all the doors into invisible cased openings. Then eliminate all the components except the outer most. Reduce it's height and you have a wainscot with your invisible openings to add to your wall. [ 02-05-2006, 11:19 AM: Message edited by: MT Const. Serv. ]
  24. .... It would be alot easier to have the wainscot or veneer become part of the wall. Then when we add an opening to the it it would automatically place an object into the composite wall. It would be nice if the components were connectcted somehow so you could render each. Thanks for your input. I guess this post should've been a wish list item.
