ok heres my weirdest request yet...can any of you afficionados give any tips to a newbie on how to create an onion dome shape? I have a crazy client who wants to put an indian temple shaped dome on an appx 25' wide porter-cocher..I can make the octagonal base and posts and even the fancy little finial bit I am lost on the "onion" shape bulbous dome...(to eventually be given to a metal fabricator to made out of copper (we think) and it would be fabricated remotely and shipped in pieces...any help appreciated!

are there new textures out there yet, like carpets?

does any have any 3-d people to share/trade? I do, but their boring in a crowd of clones of themselves. thanks does 12 have people...sure hope so!

Thanks to all of you for your fabulous, fascinating input. My new thriving, (hard to keep up with) business of design-build vacation homes has thrived on my switching to V'Works. I am gettin ghte Dell Precision built as I write this. It sounds like I wimped out but i was desperate. We have a laptop down and it was necessary, at least I do not have to deal with any incompatibility issues at one of our busiest time. You made the Mac sound magical and perhaps Ill treat myself to one in a year or so. Thanks again!

Is Rosetta a vehicle for non-supported software? My short experience in an office using Mac's afforded me the horrible experience of using Auto-cad on "virtual PC" (it was slow) Does the Rosetta do the same thing. Kevin:I may be misinformed butI thought the MacBook pro was actually ready to order and that was the one I meant. I ordered a Dell m70 Precision, but can cancel if anyone offers more info.

I've always used v'works on a pc. I'm finally thinking of switching with the new mac powerbook. (I need to work on a laptop) Anyone have any expeience with 12 on the new mac powerbook?

I'd love to not have to enter all the attributes of a door (muntin number,class info etc) or a railing everytime I want to use one.Is there a way to give one complex item such as those to another that copies their nature without entering object info again or copying and modifying. thanks for any help.

help..somehow I lost my set of door/window tools..I have V.10 with architect and renderworks loaded. Mysteriously my door/window palette has gone! I keep on trudging through by copying these items from old drawings from back in the day when they were apparent. (this little impediment I could truly live w/out. Do I need to reload the program? (hope not God knows where the disk is)..Thanks!

probably a dumb question..but how do I change my font to a default without having to constantly change my dimension/text fonts everytime to my desired font?

how do I edit a texture? when in the resource browser, can't seem to find a way to get to that edit dialogue box. thx, ml

I need pc laptop and want to know the best windows to get. i've used windows 2000 w/ VWv.8 and I felt its performance was compromised compared to my mac version.
