  1. Thanks, that and renaming it as a .jpg worked. If it works like MS then I'll be very happy indeed.
  2. Hi Katie, For some reason the link to the rotatable plan image isn't working for me. Could you perhaps repost it? It's one feature I'm really keen to see.. Thanks, Nick.
  3. One really nice thing to use for this kind of work is the Parametric Constraint 'Constrain Tangent' in the 'Dims/Notes' toolset. Draw your various circles, and then use the 'Constrain Tangent' tool to link them together. The really nice thing about this is that if you modify/move one of the circles the other circles then move to maintain the tangency. Once you have the shape you need you can then trace over it with arcs in a heavier line weight using the intersection points to snap the ends of the arcs to.
  4. Thanks Petri, that sounds like it should let me do what I'm trying to do. I'll give it a crack this weekend. Cheers, Nick.
  5. Hi all, I'm pretty new to this Scripting lark, but I'm trying to give it my best shot. I've just about got my head round the idea of 'handles' and 'arrays', but essentially what I want to do is create a series of objects - each with it's own serial number - so that later I can query the objects for their properties (e.g. position). How can I do this? Sorry if this is an obvious question, but I haven't found the answer yet. I'm reading a book with some Maya scripting in it, and in that an object can be assigned a name when it is created.Essentially this is what I am trying to do. Thanks for any thoughts, Nick
  6. Just to lend some weight to this, this has been requested by various other people in the past http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthrea...=true#Post53164 .... though none of those links seem to be working any more ....
  7. Petri, I believe it comes built in. If you look under the 'Text Options' button and 'languages' VectorScript is down near the bottom.
  8. I'm having the same problem. I have an internet connection. Hangs on finishing, with no apparent change to 12.0.1 Nick
  9. I agree as well. They are both things that I have needed in the past. In case it is useful, this post includes a script that will duplicate, rotate and elevate: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthrea...h=true#Post1173
  10. Working on a small screen with all of VW's palettes open can be a bit difficult, and minimizing every palette after use is very time consuming. Could we please have a key to instantly hide/show the palettes (in the style of the Tab key in Photoshop). I have been working with a dual monitor setup which of course is great, but the toggle key would be the next best thing. Nick
  11. Hi John, if you draw your walls in plan then you can go to a 3D view and with the 3D reshape tool you can drag the corner points of the wall up or down to create the slope. HTH, Nick.
  12. Sorry Bob, I guess I don't see how the User Guide doesn't answer that...
  13. I haven't tried this so I don't know if it works but how about trying something along the lines of... Create a duplicate of the barrel vault Create a plane that lies on the roof surface Section/split the 2nd barrel vault with the plane Use the 'extract curve' tool to get the relevant curve from the split vault In plan view convert it to a 2D shape and then plug that into Katie's suggestion. Like I say, I haven't tested this so it's just a suggestion, regards, Nick
  14. BobD, this is straight out of the VectorWorks Online User Guide: "Note: OpenGL and RenderWorks rendering modes do not support the Oblique projections. To render these, use Hidden Line or one of the Polygon rendering modes" I have also tried it, and they both default to the flat, non-projected view. HTH, Nick
  15. David, I would just suggest that you leave the class on in the object info palette, but set both the fill and the line to 'none'. That way you won't see the crop, but you can do a 'select all' if you get in the situation described and it will select the crop object - when I tried to do it the same way that you suggested I always forgot to turn it on first. just a thought, Nick
  16. Larry, you can Undo to get out of that situation. It occurs when the class of the existing crop shape is turned off in the viewport's class visibilities and you draw a second crop with that same class. At this point both crops are invisible and impossible to select and you can't access the VPs class visibilities to turn it back on... And then as you say, you are stuck.
  17. Hi Guy and Islandmon, I just wanted to say to Islandmon that if writing books isn't your thing, then even a walkthrough for just one of those fractal shapes would be amazing. It would have to be a bit of an idiots guide though, almost every button to click / script to write / curve to draw. Don't know if you could bear that Islandmon, but it might just give the rest of us a way in to something that seems pretty cryptic right now (at least to me). Regards, Nick.
  18. I'll let the genius comment stand...
  19. Bruce, NonPlot and Sills are normal I think, there is a long (and irate) thread about "<<Container Class>>" in the forum already. Put succinctly it seems to come from using legacy windows and doors in version 12. These classes are created by windows and doors rather than walls though I think, Nick
  20. Hi Bruce, is it that you need to turn off Auto Join Walls in the VectorWorks Preferences under Edit? It will mean that you will have to make joins manually, but VectorWorks won't try to do extend/ add on to existing walls. Personally I would always choose to use different layers for walls on different floors, but then seeing the model becomes a bit more complicated especially with Fundamentals. HTH, Nick
  21. Could I add the ability to use the eyedropper as well? I would understand if it didn't pickup from the non-active layers, but I still don't understand why I can't use it on the active layer when Stack Layers is turned on.
  22. I don't understand why I can't move the outline of the printed page/paper while Stack Layers is on (and not in Plan View). I turn on Stack Layers to get the view I want, then try to position the page to print it out but I can't. It is very frustrating (along with not being able to use the Tape Measure Tool while Stack Layers is on - but I think someone else has mentioned that). If those two things could be changed that would be great. Thanks, Nick.
  23. Totally agree with everything that's been said. The workaround that I use is to have a layer with it's Z height at 0. If you make that layer active and then to use the 3D pointer with snap to object turned on it will give you accurate X,Y,Z coordinates in the bar at the top for points on objects in any layer.
  24. Are these what you're looking for? http://www.nemetschek.net/upgrade/demos.php http://www.nemetschek.net/3dpowerpack/qtexamples.php
  25. Bruce, if your only talking about rotating the view around the model (which I think you are from your second post) then you need to turn on Layer Stacking View > Stack Layers regards, Nick
