  1. As first step in a possible reconciliation with VW [abandoned many rev.s ago, for some reasons] now I tried to install its viewer. Disastrous. No warning, no preventive diagnose; simply a disaster. Discouraging. Discouraged. So long. Yours, - P.M.
  2. Thank you. I came here to verify how an almost “pure” VectorScript developer, as I am (I was), could now fit into the current VW community, so to possibly renew my legacy license. Answers so far received, both public and private, both from fellow users and distributors, are revealing of real help. Thank you. - P.M.
  3. I know what you mean, and I can confirm your description by direct experience. It was precisely to verify if any changes have intervened that recently I begun following again this forum, so that I've been impressed by how collaborative and helpful this community revealed to be. Well, it would be a pleasure for me, as a senior programmer–I mean, not an ordinary CAD user, but an almost “pure” developer–, to re-join somehow this community and offer my collaboration, for what it may be worth. Problem is that my last VW rev. is the legacy 8.5 (original standard English, not localized), and no dealer has so far payed any attention to my special request for updating. Any practical suggestion welcome. Yours, - P.M.
  4. Thanks for your answers. Plus I forgot to specify that such an upgrading request—I mean, as a developer, not as an ordinary user, if any difference—have I already sent directly to some VW dealers / resellers here around too, of course. Now, curious to see the result, if any... Thanks. See you. - P.M.
  5. Possibly interested to operate (again) as a VectorScript developer, now I wander if there is any provision for updating my (old, 8.5) license according with the here stated aim; that is: as a developer, not as an ordinary VW user. No wander if not, I'd just like to know. And I dare asking it here as this same question sent to Sales<at>vectorworks<dot>net has been so far ignored. Thanks. Please consider that, for efficiency reasons, I'd really appreciate actual, usable information; I mean, no generic although generous suggestions, such as “Why you don't try ...?” Thank you, sincerely. Yours, - P.M.
  6. > Hope this helps. Thanks, it does. Indeed, so far, just one element is still missing, precisely: > your sales contact As a developer I've experienced here around a generalized indifference, if not hostility, for such “peculiar” kind of user. Therefore now I'm looking for: – A contact with the original (English) source of the product [a mail sent to Sales@vectorworks.net has been so far ignored...]; – Best of all would be now to become somehow loosely and fairly associated with a team of other developers, so to deal as a group/association, not as an isolated free-lance as I am, o more precisely, as I actually was [now I'm simply re-considering]. Any idea? Thanks. Yours, - P.M.
  7. Once upon a time I mastered VectorScript programming (legacy ver. 8.5), now I'd like to know what happened meantime [I could reconsider...]. Therefore: Any idea where/how to get complete & updated tech. documentation of this language? I mean, printed documentation [I'm an old fashioned, nostalgic printed-paper lover...], without still buying the whole package. Thanks! Yours, - P.M.
  8. [Pat Stanford] Easily said. To update, if worth doing, a couple of tools I produced once upon a time: – “Motivo4”, a little tool for generating hatch patterns. Not bad, far from perfect. – “NeatLine”, a nice hidden/overlapping 2D lines cleaner, geometrically rather accurate. No idea how useful such little tools could be nowadays. Indeed, it would be nice to investigate the residual usefulness of such tools in friendly “good company”. Thanks for your time. - P.M.
  9. As an old independent developer, after years of oblivion, I'd like to refresh my knowledge about the development tools and features currently available with the VectorWorks package. More specifically I'd love to know if the difficulties I've encountered at the time of the Nemetschek transition have been overcome. Therefore I'll be grateful to any good souls telling me something about such topics as: – Programming languages and features currently available to ordinary users/developers; – Existence of a vital developers community; – Upgrading possibility from the “legacy” MiniCAD VectorWorks 8.5 [with VectorScript language]. In case, I'd be interested into an international, i.e.: not-“localized”, edition. Or, if the case, I'd like to be free to buy any such package anywhere I'd like to, and not forcibly from any given distributor.- Anyway, I'll be glad to know what has happened these last years, just as when encountering an old acquaintance about which you'd have mixed memory and feelings, party nice partly bitter. Thanks for you time. Yours, - P.M.
