  1. That's not desirable. Sometimes you need a hard path other times you want a relative path or no path at all.
  2. yes, it’s frustrating when we try to help improve the product and the feedback just disappears into the ether. @rDesign ‘s example should be simple to report for the user, otherwise nobody will waste their time trying to help. It’s almost like we need a user based Wikipedia type experience where edits could be made by anyone, but approved to go live. Imagine the possibilities, especially in other cultures and languages where editors could translate examples and instructions into something more easily understood.
  3. Hmmm.... I haven't dealt with that one, but I think your last method, which is like my pop-out window method, might be a good solution. Hopefully one of the architects here will chime in and have some ideas. I'll take a look at it this evening and see what I can come up with.
  4. you want Scaniverse for this task, it is superior to Nomad for capture and edit of objects. I would like Nomad to be successful, it just isn’t there yet.
  5. A better workflow would be nice. In the mean time you can use: Extrude Along Path or Separate the wall and footing by using a different wall style for each.
  6. ...but it ain't enough for modeling on a Mac in Vectorworks.
  7. There are far better programs to use on an iPad for reading and measuring plans than Nomad IMHO. Bluebeam is one in the Nemetschek family.
  8. Perhaps you can explain your import/export procedure and provide a sample file? Your post was pretty difficult to understand, it reads more like a statement than a question 😉
  9. You might find the link below to be interesting reading. At the end, someone suggests emptying out your VWX backup folder. As the error seems to relate to file servers and permissions, it could be related to how you saved the file from your server. A few years ago I remember seeing this error when we upgraded to an M1 server. It turned out the M1 and Apple OS was not compatible with our RAID storage in certain modes, which was exceptionally hard to figure out.
  10. No problem. I use Autodesk Recap. There are lots of other choices out there too. Metashape, Pix4D, Meshlab, etc… if you have Service Select, they should have provided you a premium tech support contact. Otherwise, I believe the website has a general number/email. There are some point clouds that just choke VWX for some reason. Your post reminded me of this old thread of mine:
  11. Hey Juan, Any updates? Someone else is running into this issue on the forum, which reminded me about this old thread. Thanks, Jeff
  12. There are a lot of point cloud formats Vectorworks won't open for various reasons. A good way to see if the data is valid is to open it in QGIS. If it works in QGIS, but not VWX, you could try to contact VWX technical support for some help. Or You can reexport the .laz from a point cloud editing program and see if that fixes it, which it always does if you can open the original file.
  13. FYI - You can always convert wall styles from Story to layer bound, and vicaversa, by editing the wall style. There are more prebuilt wall styles that are storybound, perhaps a gentle indicator of where VWX is moving?
  14. It sounds like you did something wrong during the import process. Start a new drawing, set your units, set your document georeference settings, center the origin on your study area.... Then import the .shp file. I think VWX Uni has a video on this, but make sure you are watching one that matches your version of VWX. Things changed a bit after 2020 IIRC. During the import(s) be very careful what you select in regards to projecting and scaling. When you get it wrong, things can be off by just a little or a lot. Reprojection can also introduce some skew when your settings aren't great.
  15. A while back I noticed some Vectorworks employees here have cool images in their signature, like their VWX certifications. example: However, I do not have the ability to add images. Why is that? Not that it is a big deal, but I actually had a prospective client ask me "if you are actually Vectorworks certified, why don't you have a badge on the forum?". I explained it away with "Vectorworks employees have superpowers that mere mortals can only hope to gain one day." Then, I had to quickly take the Vectorworks Landmark test today to "prove" my abilities. But it did get me thinking.... why can't users on the forum have the same signature privileges as employees? This is a forum largely supported by the non-employee users...
  16. That should be covered by your details and specifications, not a plan view or BIM model IMHO.
  17. Wow, over a month without response? Did anyone ever help you?
  18. When you say "plant library file", do you mean you have one or more instances of each plant style in a single Vectorworks file? If so, there is an easy way to achieve what you need. If not, describe how you have built this library and there is probably a method of dealing with it via a script or other programatic method.
  19. Q: Is it possible to rearrange the order reactions appear? Reason: I sometimes accidentally give people a “thumbs down” when responding in my phone. This happens because the “thumbs down” is the first option when you click on the reaction button, and phones being the imperfect interface they are, it’s easy to misclick. here’s what it looks like. Note how “inappropriate “is at the top, it would be great if “thumbs down” was right under that. Then you would know when people are really hating on you instead of accidentally doing so 🙂
  20. I use traditional sketching as a starting point in my design process because I like it, it's faster, and more creative than getting sucked into the BIM workflow too early. A sketch is an elevator speech whereas BIM is a dissertation. I don't think that is going to change anytime soon since every software vendor wants to control the user, screws up the interfaces all the time, and increasingly moves to proprietary SAS that locks up your content. The convenience and economics of Procreate has largely eliminated my use of traditional markers... mostly because my go to colors are all dried up and I have a few Copic style Procreate brushes that are nearly indistinguishable from the real thing. My iPad is always with me and thus a virtual bag of every art tool I could ever need. Plus, when you start with a digital sketch, you don't have to worry about scanning or photographing it to get it into a digital workflow. My real paper sketching is almost entirely felt tip or roller ball on whatever is handy... sketchpad, notebook paper, Post it notes, etc. When it's time to start developing the ideas in Vectorworks, my sketching is handy for making interesting boards to explain how we got to where we are. You save a little time using Vectorworks for layout instead of Adobe Indesign/Affinity Publisher, mostly because you can refine design in Vectorworks. Publishing is just hanging it on the fridge, so wasted time in Adobe/Affinity. I worked with a guy a few years ago who would sketch on real paper, scan, color in Procreate, label in InDesign, and then layout in AutoCAD. It was painful to witness. He didn't know how to use layers and transparancy in Procreate or Photoshop... Tool are only good if you know how to use them efficiently.
  21. Wow, 2 weeks and no help yet! The easiest way is to make a texture out of your map that can be applied to the site model. I do this all the time when I am rich in site data (easy to build a site model), but thin on 3D content (too early in the design process, still sketching). You can "print" a pdf of your map and convert that to a texture for the site model. Here's an example of a Procreate sketch placed on a site model. Note, the contours of the site model can still be seen.
  22. Make sure the design layer for the reference is turned on. If you can click on the reference, make sure all of its classes and design layers are on using the button in the OiP. Finally, make sure the sheet viewports have the correct layer and class states for displaying the reference. Those are typical solutions. It’s hard to advise on this further without seeing the files as there could be many things causing problems.
  23. There was some discussion and examples a while back on this topic here:
