  1. I was tracing over a topo map with a 2d polygon tool and was wondering if there can be an option for me to have my vertices at user-defined intervals. Maybe this option could be incorporated into the freehand tool instead? ariel
  2. Not sure if this is already in the wishlist or is available in VW10 but couldn't the OIP show as well the actual text shown in a selected text or dimension object? This would be a timesaving feature to avoid having to zoom in to check if the text or dimensions are written correctly.
  3. just got this tip from the VW mailing list: type xx to deselect all. cool.
  4. Hey, you're right, David. Deselect all is available using the right click. Unfortunately I'm on the mac so I have to use the control key to access it. Now, how can I assign that to a keystroke? ariel
  5. Just a simple wish: how about a deselect all command which I can assign a keystroke to? Much easier and more convenient than having to find and click on an open space and then checking in the OIP if I've really deselected everything. ariel
  6. >Glad to hear it. I hope you can deliver before I jump ship. Kevin (and InstantGlueck), could you be more specific as to which CAD program you intend to switch to if you don't get your viewports? good luck. ariel
  7. >I've been thinking about your request. >1. What hapens if the vertices of your original 3D poly are not on the same plane? Although, it is possible to have a 3d polygon with non-planar vertices in VW, I would be perfectly happy with the vectorscript's assumption that the vertices would lie on the same plane. >2. I think the main difficulty is to draw the 2D poly exactly on top of the 3D one on the rotaded view. >3. Then again, after the extrusion it might not be on the same plane and will have to be moved. I've been informed that main problem is that vectorscript doesn't recognize working planes aside from the ground plane. Ariel
  8. Talking about flexibility, I have a couple of vectorscripts (done by other users) which duplicates the Autocad's move and offset functionalities. Ariel
  9. I already posted this at the wishlist forum and thought I should send it here as well. Maybe one of you vectorscript experts can help. ------- Here's what I would do to extrude a 3d polygon: 1) set my working plane on the 3d polygon. 2) switch my view along this working plane. 3) trace over the 3d polygon with the 2d polygon tool. (or convert to 2d polygon) 4) select and extrude the 2d polygon. 5) delete the 3d polygon. 6) go back to my original view. The resulting object would have to be an editable extruded 2d polygon. I posted a request for a tool which would avoid the above tasks at the VW mailing list and it seems that such a tool would be difficult to create in vectorscript. Ariel

  11. The Linux advantage/argument about being a more stable platform has grown thin since both Windows and MacOSX have developed into relatively stable OS's as well. Linux adoption may be rising but how many architects do you think actually use it? Sorry, but IMHO, the CAD market for Linux is practically zero. ariel
  12. Thanks, Kevin, but your message should have been directed to MikeB. Sketchup is exactly what I had in mind when I said other applications already use OpenGL to generate shadows. I just find it funny that I can place light objects in VW but still can't render shadows. What's the deal with that? Ariel
  13. Sorry, MikeB, but I'm not totally satisfied with your answer. I'm not asking for a ray trace renderer. I'm just asking for the ability to generate shadows and AFAIK other applications can already do that with OpenGL. Ariel
  14. Why do I have to get Renderworks to get shadows in Vectorworks? Shouldn't this feature be available in the basic package? ariel
  15. Here's a very simple request. Why not insert a button in the wall Info palette to convert a straight wall into round wall and vice versa?
  16. Yes I could, but my original question was how can I scale the circle section or ends once I've created them into nurbs surfaces?
  17. >Currently, there is no way to tell the program> how many 3d polys to create when >converting the nurbs surfaces to the 3d >polys. I can add this to the wish list if you >would like. Yes, please. With such a feature, I can choose different conversion resolutions for each nurbs surface. I believe Lightwave does this, right? Thanks. Ariel
  18. Just to add to the Stair PIO improvements wishlist: how about having an option for the stairs to run through multiple floors. I was once doing a model of a multi-storey building and this feature would have been a great help. Ariel
  19. I created a tapered extrude from a circle to make a tree trunk. I then converted it into nurbs surfaces so I can create the bends. Rather than move the vertices manually, how can I now scale the trunk ends (top and bottom) and also the mid section so that I can get the exact shape that I want?
  20. when converting nurbs surfaces to 3d polygons, is there a way to limit the number of resulting 3d polygons?
