  1. Upgrading to 10.1.2 hasn't solved any of the printing issues. I had to print 8 times this morning before I could hand my client a corrected floor plan. Windows 2000 HP 500 VW 101.2
  2. Katie- Haven't been to the message board in a while. Any news on the printing troubles we are having with the HP500,win2000,and VW 10 and 9.5?
  3. Katie- We are using primarly the same system as noted above. Yes, we are using the latest update (jetdirect). [ 02-05-2003, 12:07 PM: Message edited by: HJ ]
  4. We used "Times New Roman" for a while hoping that would solve the problem, but it didn't. I'm now using Mr. Hand and Heavy Hand. I'll print to file ASAP and try that.
  5. Thanks Katie....just checking.....Honestly, thanks for a the hard work.
  6. Katie- Any news regarding the print driver/memory issue for the HP 500 series plotters?
  7. Katie- I started a totally new sheet. No title block, layers, classes,etc.. I've created lines,rectangles,text...and everything printed out beautifully (4 times now). But, when I copied and pasted a drawing onto this sheet it screwed up again.
  8. Katie- We have this cd-rom all ready, and tried to install it as described in the help section of the installation. The software cd-rom which we purchased from HP was shown on their website as follows. hp design jet printers setup software for Windows 2000, 98, ME, NT 4.0 and XP - Q1254-60005 This installed the HP Design Jet 500 HPGL/2 driver for this non-postscript printer which was suppose to be version 3.21 which instead installed version 5.31. We totally removed the printer from the server, and all drives associated with it through the Server properties drivers tab and then from the testing workstation as well. Then downloaded the new driver which was provided on the cd-rom for this printer, and we experienced the same problems as before, with blocked text (text printed all in one line or one bar). Have anything else we can try? If you're able to locate the drivers for the HP printer that we're suppose to be using can you order them for us, and we will pay you for the express shipping charges if any. The paper and ink alone that we will be saving will more than pay for the solution. Shipping address Michael T. Cronin 4701 Sangamore Rd Suite North Plaza 40 Bethesda, MD 20816
  9. use the "split tool" either by points or by line.
  10. Katie- Sorry for the last message, but it was a direct request from our "IT" guy. I have the disk and I'll try to install the required driver.
  11. I'm pleased to see that we are not the only company having printer problems. You and I are using the same systems (W2000,VW10, and HP 500). What did you guys do to alleviate the printing issues (jumbled text, blacked out text blocks)?
  12. Katie- I'm posting the message from our Tech support guy at the office: I?ve spoken with HP again about this problem (third time now) and they do not offer the V3.21 for the Design Jet 500 NON-POSTSCRIPT plotter. The only version currently available for this printer is Version 5.31. I?ve preformed countless troubleshooting steps on our network, and connectivity to the plotter, print server and all other network devices and everything has passed with no problems. Test pages to the plotter print fine also, from within Microsoft Word, from the internet, and from all other sources except from within Vector Works. When printing drawings from within Vector Works does it exhibit this problems of blocked text printing of the True Type fonts ?heavy hand?, even on Arial font. The problem is not the printer, nor the network, the computer or the software being used to operate the print Q?s. The problem resides within Vector Works, and I wish they would resolve it and stop using non-standard formatting for their software. AutoCAD had a similar problem relating to the same type of printing problem in the past and they them selves owned up to the problem and now supply a fix for it, but it does not work with Vector Works. I did some searching on goggle for a mirror sites that may post the driver that you?re looking for but the earliest version I can see is 5.02 for the Design Jet 500 NON-POSTSCRIPT plotter, model #C7769B. All the printer drivers that are designed for this plotter are focused on AutoCAD software. Where you get version 5.02 http://www.printimaging.com/drivers/drivers.htm If you?re able to locate the printer drivers for version 3.21 for model number C7769B (Design Jet 500 NON-PostScript) printer, then can you please send them to us, because they?re not offered through regular channels. Regards, Michael T. Cronin
  13. Katie- We received the disk and replaced our print driver with the one recommended, but it didn't fix our problem. We are still getting the jumbled text, missing info, and the list goes on.
  14. I'll let you know if it fixes the problem....thanks for all the help.

    text class

I like the fact that a dim. string is placed automaticaly in a class and I'm looking for a script that will do the same with text..... I hate having to change the text after insertion.
  17. I'm unable to download from HP website because they are not offering free downloads. I'm having to "obtain software" from them and it will take a few days. The driver I currently have is the "HP DesignJet 500 24 by HP"

  19. Katie- There doesn't seem to be another print driver for the HP 500. When I worked with VW 9.5 and an HP 450C I had to "downgrade" the driver, but that doesn't seem to be an option either for the 500 because it is fairly new plotter. Now with the VW10 and HP500 I'm having the same problems as I did before (text being blocked out, text jumbled, printing only half the page). At first I thought it was the Post Script fonts, but I then changed all the fonts to a Truetype and we are still having the same problems. Help.....we are wasting so much time and paper.....
  20. thanks...works wonderfully....
  21. I'm creating a new template for VW10 and I have numerous layers and classes on a single sheet. I am trying to overlap layers (A1-floor plan and A1-Notes), but A1-Notes will not move to the front of the A1-Floor Plan. The send to the front and/or back comand doesn't work for this. HELP.
  22. I'm using the "plan ol'" design jet 500. A little unsure of the driver.... I just started at this office and they have been just trying to ignore the problem...I believe it is the orginial software that came with the plotter. Any advice would be helpful.
  23. I'm trying to print to the HP 500 and it is blocking text and/or not printing them out at all. Not sure what to do...maybe driver problem? Win 2000 VW 10
  24. Fred- It's a PC, Windows 2000.... Matthew sent me the link to the updated driver a few months ago, but now we are using the HP500.
  25. I'm having problems printing to my HP design Jet 500 24" roll non-postscript printer. The printer worked fine under Vector Works 8.5.1 and now we are using 9.5.2 and it is blurting the text and blocks any text made in a postscript font type. I had this same problem with the 450c and was given a driver to "down-grade" my existing print driver, but now I can't find the link for the 500. Thanks, Herman
