  1. Did they fix VW to show sections or details using 3D cut without it looking hollow? Is it now possible to show all wall details in 3D cut, or do we still have to draw them? I am using VW 9.5.2 Architect with LandMark and Renderworks 9.5. RL
  2. Thank You for the feedback. When will one be able to apply hatches to 3D objects or are we still limited to textures for material applications in 3D. I am using version 9.5.2 Architect with Landmark and Renderworks 9.5. Did you fix the hatch problem on roofs being applied to fascia? Is there an option for shadow boards, and hip returns in 3D. This would be great when showing Isometric views or flyovers to clients! RL
  3. I will admit it has been awhile since my last post. I did however get to see Version 10 at the April 5th JLC Trade Show in Providence, RI. Is there a way to convert 3D walls, roofs, etc. to 2D so one could apply hatches and other details without having to draw in 2d to begin with. Why the duality? Sincerely, RL
  4. Is it possible to export symbols 23/3d in .dxf format. If so how? Thanks rl
  5. In previous versions no. In VW 10 I do not know as I do not have access to it. Also R.O.'s for openings are size of window or door. No option to set R.O. If you use door or window tools, can't set reveal of casing against jamb. You can't regulate the backers or nailers at interior walls either. Nor set header sizes for openings or double jacks if needed. rl
  6. I have posted a 2d 3d corner board tool at vectordepot.com. Go to plugins section. Both components (front and side) are individually adjustable for top and bottom elevations as well as for size (width) and thickness. It is a square edge design. Working on fluted and shadow box (recessed panel)styles as well. rl
  7. Is there a way to convert hatches to textures so one can use them for rendering purposes? How do you do black and white. Want to use the hatches for 3d renderings (elevations ) on prints. Can't use patterns (won't do iso views) hatches won't do 3d. Thanks, rl
  8. Is there a way to convert the hatches that are in vector works or (ones I create) to be used as textures in RenderWorks? There is no way to use or apply hatches to 3d objects without leaving "cut" lines behind and patterns do not rotate in isometric views. rl

  10. Hi, Ionw I will give that a try to see if there is a parameter for the "reference line". rl
  11. Katie, Most if not all VW PIO'S are not editable due to encrytption since version 9. Even in version 8 no way to acces creat roof from walls mneu PIO at least that I have been able to find. PIO's that anyone creates are editable if they are not encrypted. rl
  12. Are you asking about Page Menu>Units or eave height. If eave height, not yet. Am working on fix. rl
  13. How do I attach an image file (VW drawing exported as image) to the message board when posting? rl
  14. Hers the problem: Draw a simple four wall house (8' walls). Roof bearing height at 8' with a 5.5" vert miter cut to account for soffit board and 1x8 fascia with 3/4" reveal. 12" projection. Convert one edge of roof to gable type. If you measure from bottom of wall to bottom of eave on a double miter cut rafter (roof), the eave height should be to bottom of (horizontal) cut based on vertical miter dimension not from bottom of VW's "refence line" continued out to vert miter cut line. Is there a fix for this? rl
  15. Thanks, Alexandre I will give that a try. There appears to be much undocumented in VW. Is there a resource that informs one of all this? rl
  16. When creating a door or window, I noticed that there is a pop up menu choice of 15 Styles. There does not appear to be any difference in the drawing, regardless of which one I choose. Are these to be assigned somehow via VW script? What is their purpose and how do I use them. rl

  18. Can anyone tell me why GetRoofEdge() returns values of 0 when I draw walls @ 8' high and use create roof from walls menu command with bearing height of 8' and eaves of 12". Eave height and projection returns 0. Thanks, rl
  19. I would publicly like to thank FUGE, Julian Carr and Pietro Moras from the VectorDepot.com site for all their help. Still have not figured out why GetRoofEdge() returns values of 0. rl
  20. Julian Carr helped me out on this one. Use Num2StrF() to return values in current units used. Thanks Again Julian rl
  21. How do you convert from binary to imperial? Function GetRoofEdge() using LONGINT data types gives binary numbers if I understand it correctly. Need imperial. Help! rl
  22. Found the archives. Searching wrong list. Great discussion but how do you convert from binary to imperial? Can you use REAL instead of LONGINT and have FunctionGetRoofEdge() still work? rl
  23. In using LONGINT data types, specifically Function GetRoofEdge(), VW returns the valuse in Binary. Is there a way to convert them back to Imperial? I can't use Binary numbers in my calculations. Thanks,rl
  24. Having trouble searching the archives for the above. Why does LONGINT return it this way instead of inches? Is there a work around? Thanks,rl
  25. To get true center of object, or in my case walls, this is what you do. Draw a wall, set its heights (bot z, top z). Use Get3DCntr(h,px,py,zvalue);, Use WallHeight(h,startHt,endHt);or Hheight()or Get3DInfo(). Use z value(center)from Get3DCntr - wall height/2 from WallHeight() or others mentioned. That will give you bottom z. Now that you have bottom z of wall, take wall height/2 + bottom z/2 = true center. rl
