Looking for some assistance with creating worksheet formulas. I'm attempting to nest some multipliers in a SUM formula and can't quite find the right way. My failed attempt: =SUM(B2..(B3*2)..(B4*3))

The data tag tool does almost exactly what I need, but it has a physical connection to the symbol. I need the symbol and the tag to exist independently so if I move the symbol it won't cause the tag to move. Any thoughts on how/if this could be done with a marionette network?

Following up on the use of data tags - it works but not without faults. While the tag pulls the info needed, it is also tied physically to the symbol. When the symbol moves position, so does the data tag. For my purpose, I need the geometry to exist independently, so either symbol or tag can change position without effecting the other. I would still like to see a text box with the ability to link directly to a worksheet cell.

Before the title block was revamped a couple years ago, one used to be able to tab through entry fields. It seems that is not possible anymore. Am I missing something? Is there a way to quickly get through fields without having to navigate the mouse each time? If not, I would like to request that tab'ing' be reinstated.

Hi @Boh I downloaded the VWX file you posted (thank you) and I tried working with/editing your worksheet and it didn't work well for my purposes. To clarify: I've created symbols with records that I populate manually to accommodate different jobs/uses. I then create a worksheet which compiles all the record data in a client facing format. Then there are other text boxes on a different layer which use some of this same info and could benefit from a direct link to a cell.

I would love to be able to link a cell in a worksheet to a text box on a design layer, so if a change occurs to the text box OR in the worksheet, it happens in both places. In essence, a single edit to a worksheet, could ripple through many text boxes.

Wish: Reference a worksheet cell to populate record fields in symbols Example: - 'Worksheet A' holds many fields of data that change regularly - Symbols 1, 2 and 3 reference 'Worksheet A' cell A1. - Symbols 4, 5 and 6 reference 'Worksheet A' cell B2. Currently this would be 6 changes with many steps in between. If we were able to point record fields to reference a worksheet, it would be 2 changes that could happen very easily. Thanks

I like the idea... but don't think it applies. I'm trying to create a master list that I can use on multiple sheets so, for example, sheet 1 can display lines 1-10, sheet 2 can display 11-20, etc. The boolean would either be on or off; not really selectable per instance.

Export the sheet layer as DWG with "Export Viewports as 2D graphics in Model Space" checked

If there are a lot of groups-in-groups OR symbols-in-symbols, I've found de-nesting helps as well. The nested groups/symbols seem to create a lot of delay.

Thank you all for the info! I have another one for you: Do you know (or is it possible) to display only a portion of a worksheet? Example: I have a Database Worksheet showing all symbols using a certain record. I would like to display the header and lines 20-40 of the worksheet on a sheet layer. In the past I've created duplicate worksheets and edited them for my needs OR I've cheated and dropped a white rectangle mask over it. But, it seems like there should be an option to display only necessary lines. Any ideas?

Is there a way to link multiple text boxes together so when you change one it ripples through all the others that are linked? Thanks for any assistance.

@frozenwaffles Vectorworks needs to see the LED as a single object, not individual pixels, in order to map a texture onto it. Model the LED into whatever shape needed. With pixels in place, create a solid addition of only the pixels. At this point, you should be able to create your texture and use the attribute mapping tool to select the proper face of the pixels for the image. To make the attribute mapping easier, I would suggest using rectangles.

@NikF Are you exporting the FBX to the same folder location as the VWX file? In the past, I've had issues exporting to a separate location which is solved by sending the FBX export to the same folder as the VWX file. Is VWX creating the blank "reference" fbx file?

When importing a DWG into VW2018, arcs are not positioned properly. Same DWG imported into VW2017 is fine. For example: If the arc is supposed be drawn from 0deg to 45deg, it will import somewhere else on the circumference (not necessarily opposite as my example shows). Images below show a basic example of what's happening. Ex.1 is how it should look. Ex.2 is how it imports.

Attempting to export an fbx from VW2018 to no avail. The same file in VW2017 exports an fbx properly. VW2017 creates a dummy file at zero bytes, then completes an FBX file after X amount of time. VW2018 doesn't create the dummy file, and then after waiting X+X amount of time still nothing. Anyone experience this and have a fix? VW2018 SP2

Using the 'Plugin Object' setting on symbol conversion worked. Marissa, you are right though. Trying to use the symbol in another document didn't work. It came up with multiple errors. Thanks for the responses.

Is there a way to create a symbol from a Marionette Object and retain object info window options? I've turned my network into a object node, but when I create a symbol it wipes out the options. I can kill the symbol and the options return, but I would like to avoid that step. Thanks
