  1. That was my problem too.I figured this out because my HD died and I had to reinstall my programs. When I started up VW I got a warning that the version of quicktime I was using was not the same one that shipped with VW, and that if there were functionality issues to install the version that came on the cd (6.5.1). I installed 6.5.2 and all the functionality returned.
  2. Thanks for the suggestion, but none of that solved the issue. I switched workspaces, I uninstalled then reinstalled, and I also tried a reinstall after uninstalling then deleting the vectorworks and nemetschek folders in the registry. For now since I have some basic drafting to do asap I had to find and install my old VW 9.5 and that is working as expected.
  3. I seem to be having similar issues, but I though it was just with making light positions. Since reading this post I've tried some other things out and I get nothing for label legend manager, assign label legend, and it seems the rest of the other options under "spotlight" aren't working either.
  4. I am not able to create lighting positions. I checked the manual and previously used VW 9.5 and never had trouble making positions in that version. I select the object, go to spotlight, define/convert, convert to light position and nothing happens. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
  5. Thanks, that's what the problem was.
  6. I have windows XP Pro, VW Spotlight 9.5.2, and I am expeciencing loss of functionality when I use VW in another account besides my administrator account. For example the spotlight section in the menu bar does not show up and the spotlight pallete is unavailable. You might say well just use it in the admin account, well all I want to use the admin account for is installing software, hardware, and administration of my everyday account. It's just more secure that way. Is there any way I can get full functionality of VW Spotlight in my normal everyday account?
  7. I don't see that combination of folders. I have plug-ins/data and that's it. I am using VW Spotlight 9.5.2
  8. I use the Drawing Brdr tool in the spotlight pallete. I want to know if it is possible to change the line thickness of the border.
  9. I used the drawing border tool to make a border. Is there any way to change the line thickness of the border? The default line thickness is to thin for me.
  10. I used the drawing border tool to make a border for one of my draftings. Is there any way to change the linewight of the border? If not what is the default lineweight of the border so I can match the linewights in my custom title block to the border lineweight.
  11. Is there any way to make new patterns from scratch or edit existing patterns in more detail than just editing 64 pixels by turning them on or off?
  12. I was wondering the lineweight of the border, that the drawing border tool uses. I want to make my own title block, but I want the lineweights of what I make to be the same as the border. Also, is there any way to change the lineweght of the border? Thanks
  13. When I import auto cad files the hatching doesn't show up most of the time, or will only partially be there. Usually the architecture that was imported are all line segments. Is there a way to hatch in VW without redrawing the architecture with the wall tool or creating new polygons?
  14. Is there any way to change the lineweight of instruments. I have inserted them, then changed the lineweight but nothing happens and they print in one lineweight. Also is there any way to change the line weight of lighting positions after they have been converted to light positions with a certain lineweight. For example I have a line at 40 mils lineweight, that I converted to a light position(catwalk pipe). I have tried to change it to 20 mils, but nothing has happened. Do I have to redraw light positions if I want a new lineweight? If I do you guys should consider making lineweights of any object or device adjustable in the next version of VW.
  15. Is there any way to put one light device a certain distance from the other by typing the exact distance in. For example if I have one light device 10 Feet from the end of the pipe it is on, can I put another exacly 8 Feet 3 Inches away. The way I am currently doing it is by using the smart points, but it is not very accurate. I put the cursor on the center of the light device then drag it until I see the right distance in the Object Length box, then I place the other light device there. The problem with that is that the measurement is usually in decmil form and never exactly shows 8' or 8'51/2". It shows decimls like 8'.566", or 5'2.378". The other problem is that the smart point never stays in the center of the light device I am measuring from, so that makes it inaccurate as well. So i was wondering if there was a simple way to insert lighting devices at exact distances?
  16. I'm using VW Spotlight and the lines than don't want to show the change of lineweight are light position objects. I don't know why they won't show a change lineweight though. Is it because they are objects? If it says the line weight is changed will it print in the new lineweight or in the original when the object was created?
  17. None of the suggestions have worked. I did notice that the attributes palette has different options for the lines that did get thinner than the lines that stayed thick. For example, when I click on the lines that did change line weight the fill style is grayed and I am unable to use it. The rest of the palette works. When I click on the lines that did not get thin, the fill style is useable, but the line endpoint toggle, line start point toggle, and line endpoint style are grayed and unuseable.
  18. When I make a line with a weight of 40 mils VW seems to use that line weight on other objects and lines automatically. It seems to set the first line weight I use as the default. Is there any way to have it reset to a thin line weight (like 1 mil) after I make thick lines?
  19. Half the time when I adjust line weights from real thick to thin the line stays looking thick. The attributes palette shows the line weight is thin when I click on the line, but the drawing does not. Any Suggestions?
  20. I updated from 9.5.0 to 9.5.1. It installed a whole new folder for 9.5.1. Does that mean I can uninstall 9.5.0 withiut any problems?
  21. In the software there are symbols for multicircut strip lights. For example under Altmans stips there is the R40 3 circut 6 foot strip, but when you place it on a plot only one label comes up for it when the shoud be three. Whats the point of having the symbols already premade when we have to build them ourselves in order to have the right amound of circuts, and space to enter the information about them. So hopefully in the next version you'll either have the premade ones with the right amount of labels for as many circuts as there are, or eliminate the premade ones and tell people they have to build multicircut strips from the strip parts folder.
  22. In the software there are symbols for multicircut strip lights. For example under Altmans stips there is the R40 3 circut 6 foot strip. If I insert it into my plot I only get one spot to insert info(i.e. color, channel, focus, etc) for the instrument, when there should be three since it has three circuts. Is there any way to use the existing symbol and add two more labels, or do I just have to draft my own and make it a multicircut unit? What is the real point of having the symbol included in the software if I have to make my own in order to make it a multicircut instrument. For any multicircut instrument symbol included in the software, the right amount of labels/space should be included to show the info correctly.
  23. I want a layer exclusively for my focus points, so I made one. The problem is that since it is its own layer, when I add one to my plot, lines under the focus point (i.e. the grid or seating areas) are still there eventhough the fill style is set at solid. The only times I can get the focus area to be solid is, for example, to make my grid layer active and add the focus point there. But if there are lines from 2 different layers under my focus point, I am still stuck with partial lines because only one ayer can be acftive at a time. Is there any way to solve this while keeping focus points in their own layer? (I don't know much about how classes work, but would making it a class solve this problem?) Thanks T
