  1. or the curved wall tool. Not sure what the end result is to be. The wall tools, with appropriate settings, can also give you platforms.

  3. You kind of do need a bluetooth connection. The iOS Measure app is weak. MagicPlan can be a PITA without a connection to a laser. Floorplanner looks kind if cool, but all imperfect. I think measure and survey deserve a VE for VCS.
  4. I don't see this issue. UV is on by default, and stays on for me, unless I open a very old file.
  5. hmmm, I know I've had the same frustration in other programs. Nor sure about AI or CC in general.
  6. Reach out to them, OZcad is very responsive and perhaps there is a 2020 version, ie maybe the 2019 version will work. I love AnimationWorks, BUT if you're after something articulated, like a dancer AnimationWorks cannot create that type of movement. You could get an object to track through.
  7. There is a somewhat older Escalator tool in the Architect toolset. Not sure if it's included with Spotlight.
  8. Maybe I missed it, but I would want a count of the tiles and types. I'd want them in 3D. Not sure there's a good way to count symbol, or keep records attached...
  9. I just poked around a bit too. I was going to comment on the number of point lights, each of which adds considerable computing time. Multiple points lights add time exponentially. I was going to experiment with a vectorworks spotlight object or two. Also wondering if there is a solution with IES files and custom lights. GI means...?
  10. I typically use Duplicate Array, BUT when trimming that will mess with counts.
  11. I've done this type of thing on a smaller scale, but painstakingly manually.
  12. Glass setting are somewhat a matter of taste, but some guidelines below. The Portal option in Indirect Lighting allows light through the glass. I might also experiment with a backlit shader and not glass. In order for light rays to bend correctly, Glass requires two surfaces; glass objects should be a 3D Object, not a simple 3D Polygon. Without a second surface, the light will bend as if it is going into glass, but not bend back. When creating glass for a window, Press the Indirect Lighting Options button in the Texture Definition Dialog. There, choose Portal and Emit Light.

  14. Photometric tools only work with spotlight lighting devices. They need to be on and focused. your house lights must be spotlight lighting devices, which can be custom made if you’re not using theatrical fixtures so you need those ficus pint objects. They and the photo metic objects can be classed or on their own layer to control visibility.
  15. Do you include large texture images? I've done some big shows, with complex geometry, and 5Gb is an insane file size.

  17. What if the transparency is 'Plain?" No, you can't really get that dead on look of a spotlight.
  18. well, yes. The graphic file you describe should be able to display ONLY the text in white using the Alpha channel for transparency. To me, that would be great if the text were being applied directly to a structure. For what you describe, I think I'd make the sign s its own object.
  19. I would make the art as it should render; red text on a white background, appropriately sized, and either texture a 3D Polo or create and Impage prop. what you describe will knock out the area around the text and just show white text.
  20. So, I'm not sure and I haven't tested, but why couldn't you have a texture with the color shader set to object attributes and have the transparency as you like? For the lens on a spotlight lighting device, that's set in the Spotlight Preferences.There must be a lens object, grouped with the body and the lens need a class with a texture (glow shader, object attributes, Cast Shadows turned off). In the spotlight prefs Modify lighting instrument color set to color field, and only the lens class.
  21. While I think I understand, I still feel a bit confused. That said, I often wish there was a way to copy some settings from texture to texture, OR have a 'master' shader applied to multiple textures. Particularly true of transparency and bump
