  1. I set up my Sheets in "Model Setup" to include Demo Plans. What is troubling is that these Drawings are also showing up in the ModFloor Plan, and what ever changes I make to one...directly effect the other. Not good. Note: I never set up a layer link, and the layers are not "locked." So I can adjust both, and one effects the other--regardless of which sheet I am on. What am I doing wrong?
  2. No worries again. I will just assign a Class for the items to be demolished, and selectively turn them off on the Floor Plan. Sorry, i should have though of this.
  3. quote: Good luck! Thanks...I'll need it. =) VW Architect is turning out to be a lot of work to learn for me. So I am sure that I will have a lot more questions in the future.
  4. Oh.... you manually need to remove each drawing layer on the sheet by individually selecting them and then hitting Delete. I thought that it would just disappear off the sheet. This was not the case. And I also believe that you have to run through this step for each layer that is linked....so if 3 layers are linked, you have to do this step 3 times. Or at least I had to. 5. No worries. I think I got it.....by trial and error...mostly error. =) Mahalo Kristen. Your info got me there. It is actually "Custom Selection 2..." that needs to be selected. The Users Guide does not do a very good job of explaining this, and I will be a lot more careful in the future of what I choose as a Layer Link.
  6. Hi Kristen: Thanks for your quick reply. But I got lost here. It's a dinosaur effect.....sorry. quote: Select the layer links (you can do this with Organize>Custom Selection> Type > Layer Link if it's awkward to select by clicking on them). Go to the Edit menu and select unlock. Then delete the layer links. I go to Organize>Custon Selection When I get there I get a box that says, and has specific items that can be selected:: Command Select Select Only Deselect Option Excecute Immediately Create Script So I guess I get lost where you write "type." I do not know where to go from here.
  7. Is there a way to do this?

    Where Is It?

I have just downloaded Vectorworks Architect, and have no access to any of the tools as seen in the "VW10 Learning Series." I have also gone to File>Workspaces>Architect As instructed in the User's Guide, and "Architect" is not there. I only have "Classic" and "Standard". I have also verified that the Serial Number in the "Preference" area is correct, and once selected, the word "Architect" shows up, along with "Vectorworks," as being "Enabled." What am I doing wrong? I am currently using an iMac OS 9.2.
  10. Thanks for the info Mike! [ 12-17-2003, 02:23 PM: Message edited by: Dux ]
  11. It seems so obvious when you put it that way. *LOL* Wonderful! Both functions worked fine. It is also interesting to note that this is exactly what the manual said to do. How odd. Every day I get more and more amazed with what this program will do. Thanks for all your help!!!!!!
  12. After years of using Vectorworks [even back to MiniCad], I am now attempting to work in 3d. Using the "Create Roof From Walls" tool is wonderful, however, from the manual, I see that I can also add Dormers. Following the instructions however, I cannot seem to find it anywhere. This goes for the Create Floor tool. On my version, these functions appear to be grayed out....along with the "Column," & "Roof Face" tools. Is this due to the version I have, or am I doing something wrong? Mahalo
  13. I have a copy of an older version of Renderworks [Version 8] that I purphased for V8.5. Will it work for V10? Or will I have to update it to a newer version of Renderworks? If not, could I "Export" a V10 file to V8, and then have it work this way? I understand that I could just attempt to do this on my own...but I just want to be sure before I make the attempt of installing Renderworks 8 into my computer--not knowing if the problems of Renderworks not working are mine, or the conflicting systems [should this prove to be the case] that won't talk to one another. Mahalo
  14. Wow!!!! Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I may want to upgrade to VW10. Mahalo for all your help.
  15. I am sure this has been asked before. Sorry. But can this be done, and can it be used/adjusted in Autocad in something other than a single layer [something I do now for my consultants, i.e. base sheets...etc]. What if anything will get lost in the conversion, i.e. what I have currently seen--which is loss of hatching, shading. etc? Is DXF the only way? I haven't had too much luck with this for the reasons mention above. But I am a dinosaur. My manual talks about WMF. But this appears to only be for the PC [i am a mac user], and only talks about Importing, not exporting. If converting can be done, is there a way to format the Sheets/Layers, "Save Sheets"..etc. such that this becomes easier, i.e. using the same Sheet Scale on each layer? Finally, I am currently using Vectorworks 8.5. Is there an updated version of Vectorworks that I can purchase that will address this problem better? Will I need to get a PC--something I am not too happy about, but will do if need be? Questions questions. Sorry.
