  1. Is this possible? I found older posts about this, but from more than a year ago. Has any solution become available? The place where we print our work is asking us to send .PLT files. Thank you.
  2. Very good suggestions... thank you. But I still miss a View palette...
  3. Thank you all for your replies, but what I am asking is a palette for quickly changing from Top view to left view, to Right Isometric, etc. I understand that I can save those views and then change between them, but I would like a palette to switch between the "Standard Views".
  4. Robert, I have VW12 Designer. Where is the palette?
  5. Is there any option to have a view palette on screen? I am creating a 3D model and I constantly need to change from plan to front or isometric and it would be nice to click a button in a palette in order to change my view. Is this posible?
  6. This is still happenning to me in VW12. Is there any plan to fix this issue? Or does this happen for a special reason?
  7. I just upgraded to VW12 and I'm very happy. I've been playing with the new features and I've been very pleased with the new tools, like opacity, better selection handles, better DWG export, etc. I particularly enjoyed the X-Frog library included with my package (Designer). Initially I installed VW in my Mac mini which is connected to a Sony CRT monitor. Everything looks great with Quartz Imaging and Anti alias turned on. Now I did a test and installed the program in my iBook G4 to see how it behaves here. And to my surprise, images (specifically the X-Frog wonderful library) look terrible in the iBook's TFT screen if Quartz Imaging is on. Turning it off solves the problem. So I would like to know what is the problem here. Is Quartz Imaging not suitable for laptops and TFT screens? Does the same happen in iMac G4s/G5's, Powerbooks and Powermacs connected to TFT/LCD screens? [ 01-05-2006, 10:06 PM: Message edited by: Hugo ]
  8. Hello again... I wanted to know if there is any plan from Nemetschek to add Spotlight indexing capabilities in Mac Os X 10.4.x. Thank you!
  9. Opacity is a great addition in VW 12 for Mac OS X, but I would like to know if it is possible to assign opacity by object(s) instead of by layer. I think I could move the selected objects to another layer and assign opacity to that specific layer, but changing of layer all the time seems time consuming for me. Any idea? 10. Peter, Very good suggestion! I'll keep and eye on it! Thank you.
  11. I'm drawing in VW12 Designer and I just draw a rectangle. Now I want to resize it, so I click over it but the smart cursor doesn't show the resize option, it just allow me to move the object. I get the "cross" cursor only. I draw another rectangle and the same problem. I had to close the file and quit Vectorworks, then reopen the application and I was able to continue drawing. Is this a bug? I am using a Mac mini with a 1.5 Ghz G4, 1 Gb of RAM, 64 Mb VRAM. It is running Mac OS X 10.4.3 with all its updates.
  12. Just discovered what it was... A new class named "Sills" was hidden. Making it visible fixed the problem.
  13. Hello. I just upgraded to VW 12 Designer, and in some drawings my doors appear but aren't fully visible. There is the opening but the door leaves do not appear. I tried changing the settings but the leaves are still invisible. This happens with both doors coming from v11 drawings and with new doors inserted in v12. I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.3 with all available updates installed. [ 01-02-2006, 10:39 AM: Message edited by: Hugo ]
  14. Any fix to this problem now in 2005?
  15. Intel Macs will be able to run PowerPC software with no problems, thanks to 'Rosetta', a real time decoder that will be included in Mac OS X 10.5 'Leopard'. So if at the time Apple ships Intel Macs, Vectorworks (or any other app) is not designed specifically for Intel, that will be no problem. The question is how fast will Rosetta perform translating PowerPC instructions to Intel. That remains unknown.
  16. I have been unbale to find VW 12's system requirements in Nemetschek web site or in the PDF available for download. I am planning to buy a new computer, a Mac specifically. I like the new iMacs Apple released last week, they seem a good balance between performance and value, but I know new Powermacs are supposed to debut this week, maybe with dual core processors, probably faster graphics than iMacs, etc. Does VW take advantage of 64 bit processors, dual core processors or dual (single or double core) processors? What about the new video card in the new iMacs? What requirements are needed for radiosity renedrings? Any info would be very useful for me. Thank you. 17. What are the system requirements for VW 12? Thank you.
  18. Hello. I would also like to know if it is possible to make witness lines in dashed style. I have a drawing with several dimensions and dashed witness lines would improve readability notoriously. Hugo
  19. C. Andrew, Thank you very much. I already took my time and divided the oval, but I appreciate your help. VW should add this feature in future releases...
  20. How can I divide an oval into segments, as I can do with lines, circles and arcs? Thank you, Hugo [ 09-30-2005, 04:06 PM: Message edited by: Hugo ]
  21. I have a Mac, so I have not too much experience in the PC side, but in my office we use both Macs and PCs for VW, and definitely in both cases, computers with more than 512 Mb of RAM perform noticeable better. In computers with lower RAM, VW tends to crash very frequently.
  22. John, Thank you very much for your input. How does VW behave in a G5 when rotating a complex 3D model, in wireframe mode, or in Open GL mode? How much does it take to re-render? In my iBook, and in most Macs I have used, I also notice a small delay in the screen when panning through a drawing, specially if the drawing has many lines and objects. This delay gets dramatic when working with a DWG file imported from Autocad. When I have used PCs with Autocad, zooming and panning is instantaneous, even in old computers. Is VW absolutely snappy in a dual G5? Thank you, Hugo
  23. Cipes, Thank you. I am asking all this because I need a fast computer and definitely I prefer Macs to PCs in overall experience, lack of viruses, better user interface, better files organization, etc. But this afternoon I've been rendering in both my G4 iBook and a 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 with XP and the PC is more than twice faster than my iBook in some tasks. How does a dual G5 compare against a 3.2 Ghz P4 in Vectorworks, Artlantis, and CAD and rendering in general? Zooming and panning, for example, are generally much faster on PCs, even in old PIII with only 700 Mhz. Will a G5 pan and zoom instantly as I need? Autocad seems to run very fast on a PC (independant it is easy or difficult to use). I really need that speed in Vectorworks.
  24. Anybody here has experience with Vectorworks and a dual G5? I am thinking on upgrading, actually using a G4 iBook which runs fast until 3D and Artlantis. I am actually modelling and rendering a big project and want more speed. I know actually VW except Renderworks do not take advantage of dual processors but I think future versions will, or not? Or will VW take advantage of a dual core processor, in the case Apple releases dual core PowerPC G5 CPUs? Thank you!
  25. mdarch, Thank you very much! You fixed my problem. The PCs didn't have that option checked by default, while all Macs did. Activating this option fixed my problems. Thank you very much! Hugo
