Label Legend Container, Can't Change Class Visibility-VW2021
JimDenaultASC replied to JimDenaultASC's question in Troubleshooting
Thank you so much for following up. I am not sure what the problem was. I solved it by deleting the original oval container symbol from the RM, then re-importing the container symbol with a different name. Then I replaced it in the Legend using Label Legend Manager>Edit Fields... Not sure what went wrong before, but this is what fixed it. -
Label Legend Container, Can't Change Class Visibility-VW2021
JimDenaultASC posted a question in Troubleshooting
I have a Spotlight Label Legend with a an oval container assigned to a class Lighting-Label-Container. All the other parts of my label legend are also assigned to various subclasses of Lighting-Label. I can show or hide all of the other label legend subclasses in my design and sheet layers, but the Container subclass remains visible no matter how I have the class visibility set. I have made sure the container in the symbol definition is classed correctly. I even tried deleting and replacing it in the symbol definition to force a refresh. It still does not respond to class visibility settings. Does anyone have an idea about how to handle this? Thanks, Jim -
New Lighting Artifacts in Renderworks
JimDenaultASC replied to JimDenaultASC's question in Troubleshooting
Thank you! That was it. Moved the Light object 1/16 below the edge of the wall cut-out and the problem is gone. -
I have started getting some odd rendering effects, the formerly smooth lighting patterns from some of my .IES driven Custom Light Objects have become kind of pointillist and weird like the forest breakup gobo I wish really existed. The down light object symbols in the hallway are the same as the ones in the dining room and living room, and in other renderings they looked correct. I have messed around with settings for awhile. This is Final Renderworks, 16 bounces, ambient occlusion 40%/1', ambient lighting is a mid gray at 30% which usually works, the levels on all the down lights is the same, 2000 lumens @ 100%. Has anyone seen this before? What's the fix? Thanks. Jim Denault, ASC Pasadena CA

I have just started working with VW2018. When working with Spotlight>Visualization>Create Plot and Model View in 2017 and earlier, I was used to being able to double click the "original" viewport from which the Model and Definition layers were created, to bring me to an Edit box for the Definition layer. I made a little example movie from a fresh 2018 file to make sure there was no weirdness being brought from previous versions. In 2017 and before I could also move the "original" viewport (Design Layer 1 in the example) off to the side to make the plot more legible, without affecting the Definition Layer and Model Layer arrangement. I can't do that in 2018, either. Is there some setting or preference I might have missed or is this something that's not working the same?

Objects in Groups and Symbols becoming invisible
JimDenaultASC replied to Horst M.'s question in Troubleshooting
I had a similar problem with a file I was re-opening from VW2014–no Open GL or Wireframe 3D images, only control points on objects that were selected in Top/Plan. After a lot of restarting and preference changing, I finally was able to get 3D images to render by switching to View>Rendering>Fast Renderworks. After that, images would stay rendered in Open GL.
