  1. @cberg thanks for this, but none of the roof face suggestions in that thread work. I need something rotated about two axes since the roof face I want is pitched, but it also rises from a pitched roof face. My "fit to object" walls also keep disappearing at random! VW tech support time!
  2. Anyone have bright ideas on how to create a roof like below using roof face objects? I did this with extrudes that were rotated on two axes. Roof face allows one to set a pitch, but I couldn't find a way to rotate it on the perpendicular axis as well, would be a nice feature to have a "rotation" parameter for this, IM(H)O.
  3. Michael, Thanks for this. Would like the texture to have that hatch, but the hatch doesn't seem to "behave well." It doesn't seem to follow the grain of the wood in the texture.
  4. Just started using the duct tools and they are super helpful for design, but I echo the need to move them off of strictly Cartesian geometry. It would be nice to parametrically rotate them in 3D. I, too, had to extrude along path to create the end result of angled ducts, which are very typical in single-family residential and, as mike m oz pointed out, best practice to to reduce resistance/static pressure. It also reduces the space consumed.
  5. I've been working on a model and twice now, the stair object has become "segmented" when displayed in Hidden Line mode, seemingly at random. It renders fine in Renderworks. Any thoughts? segmented stair.vwx
  6. Still grappling with this. Years ago, I felt like using classes to control 'Existing,' 'New,' and 'Demolished," was overly difficult, requiring, for instance, walls to be segmented so that portions of them could classed differently, difficulty deleting door and window objects and leaving no trace of them, etc. I'm feeling good about using extra Design Layers for this, but it does require a complete set of duplicates of each slab level of the building for "Proposed" and "Existing" layers to get the stair objects to behave well graphically (i.e. a dashed graphic on lower floor and solid above, etc.) In my case, for example, I have a garage on the lowest level, and two levels above. Even though the garage level isn't being modified, I need a duplicate layer, '0-Slab Proposed' in addition '0-Slab' so I can set the upper Layer of the stair object to '1-Slab Proposed' vs. '1-Slab', etc.
  7. Can anyone tell me why the lower colored bars disappear from the interior wall in this rendering and why there are ugly black lines on my curtain wall? 607 SA Ave perspective 230414.pdf 943032844_607SAAvev2023.vwx
  8. Iskra, Thank you, that did work, but is it quite tedious to manually update each sheet in a published set. Is there a way to change this universally? I've never encountered such a problem before.
  9. I'm having an issue with publishing a plan set in VW2023, where the resultant pdf has the sheets in (what I assume is) "current view" vs. the specified print size, in the is case Arch D, 24x36". I can "export" each page without issue, though the software seems to keep defaulting to "Current View" vs. "Page 1 to 1." If I don't switch it back to "Page 1 to 1" I get what "publish" is giving me, basically a small version of my sheet layer surrounded by an enormous white border. Please advise.
  10. Thanks! It seems like the only way to include the existing and proposed within the stories format is to use classes, since the software doesn't seem to allow more than one layer per story level at the same elevation, nor more than one story with the same elevation. Am I missing something?
  11. I'm trying to transition to stories and was wondering if anyone has best practices for including both as-built and proposed walls, etc., in a single VW file. Previously, I'd just have "existing" floor & wall layers and "proposed" floor & wall layers in the same VW file and could reference whatever I needed from sheet layers. Not quite so clear how to do this with a model organized by stories. Thoughts?
  12. I have tried nearly every option for importing a VW model into SketchUp, and recently found software that does a good job. 'Transmutr' is a standalone application (not a plugin for SU.) See below for a comparison of various VW export/SU import approaches. Many of them fail to include the line work, so I've shown the results in both SU 'Default Style' and 'Hidden Line' to illustrate. I feel like Transmutr is the way to go, at least at present.
  13. Yes, the DWG import is the one on the far right. Glazing doesn't come through as translucent (each surface needs to be changed individually) and numerous other errors in the geometry. I suspect it's an issue on the VW export side.
  14. I'm having continued (additional?) challenges with this. I started a new post below, any insight would be appreciated!)
