  2. I am doing a lot of importing of dwg/dxf files (autocad 2002) into Vectorworks 11. I am having some major dificulties having it coming out looking presentable to print. My biggest complaint is that when demension are use in the dwg/dxf files and inported they look grossly aggerated with regards tothe hash marks when in VectorWorks. What can I do to eliminate this?
  3. I know this question has been probably asked 100's of times. I am wonder what is the best way to import drawing from AutoCad 2004. Do you have the sender convert the file to DWG or DXF? Once a vectorworks 11 user is ready to import, you begin by creating a blank doc. or can you use a template? Do I need to worry about setting the correct scale? What the best way
  4. When I import DXF files, it seems that anotations always appear very long. When I zoom in it looks fine. If I want to take a detail of something and copy it to another vectorworks doc. it is almost impossible to get to get to copy all of the text. I have the VW11. Is there something i can do to make this easier. Thanks

  9. Well- When I try and import- a window opens and I select the folder where I saved the pdf which is on my desktop. It looks for image files on the desktop but does not list any pdf files. So instead of images files I have to change to look for all files. Once I do his I see my pdf on my desktop then then I try and import but no second window pops up. What now??

  16. I have constructed my three story model and know I want to know how to put the ground plane in. I am not sure if I am calling it the right thing. Parts of the building will be below ground level and when I do a rederning I want to make sure this put of the building is not seen. I guess I am asking what are the steps to achhieve this? 17. I am a Architect 10.5 user and have always had a problem trying to achieve elevation drawings. I will draw the floor plans as usual and entering a "Z" value for all the heights and then try to view the elevations. What I normally do is create a new drawing and put the foundation, floor 1, and floor 2 all on one layer. From there I select the view I want and then select convert copy to lines, from there I choose hidden line rendering. It seems like this takes forever! Once this happens I discard the original drawing and I am left with a grouped drawing. At this point there needs to be a lot of clean up. First of all, Is there a quicker more efficient way - Or am I doing it completely wrong. One last thing- How do I get"let's say the appearance of brick" once I am in the convert copy to lines on the exterior of the building? I know this is a lot but I have always struggles with this part of Vectorworks. Thanks
  18. I am somewhat new to drafting and I want to know if there are standards in drafting for line weights? How do you determine line weights?

  22. I am trying to add a sky background to my drawing. I am not quite sure what the best way is to accomplish this. What I do is have the drawing in a front view then draw an extruded square/rectangle around the whole drawing and then add the sky/clouds texture to the extruded square. Is there a better way to accomplish this?

This will then be used as a texture to be put into the exterior of my walls. Everytime I try and create a 8'X 8' square and add my horizontal lines and then export to an image file and then bring it back in as an texture, I'll I get is dots, Please help - I'm I missing sets- Why is this so difficult.
