  1. Hi-

I am curious if anyone has ever created a video of their project showing in slow motion the  parts being put together to create a house.  Meaning, can I show in a video, the floor in wire frame mode going in, then the walls, then the furniture, plumbing, etc. then ceiling then 2nd flr , 2nd floor walls, etc, etc- then changing to open gl with no color, then with color, then produce in final quality renderworks, lastly the actual image of the house built?  If so, what software would I need to create this?- Trying to add to my website and thought it would be cool to show all the parts and pieces that are involved in building a house?

  2. Thought this might be the best place to go for lighting ideas- I am creating lighting fixtures for an interior room- It is a chandelier with 8 downlights- What is the best way to represent this?

Do I use spot, point light or directional light and typically what level would I use?

  3. I am trying to create multi-light fixtures for a room something with 5 arms and have a downlight for each of the 5 pendants.

Not sure what type of light to use to get the best effect.

Any suggestion for adding light to a light fixtures to get realistic scenery

  5. I was hoping others might have suggestions on how to keep track of details.  When it gets busy, keeping track of where details are is sometimes hard.  Typically I have to go back to previous projects and pull details and then change accordingly in the new project.  This is often difficult because I often forget where a particular detail might be.  Our firm works with multiple people and it would be great to be able to search for detail categorized, say by foundation, eaves, roof, wall, door, windows, etc.

Any suggestion on what works for other would greatly be appreciated.

  7. When creating new classes in existing files, is it possible to make sure that new class created is visible in all the existing viewports and saved views?  I have to typically go back to be viewports and turn on the classes.  Thought there might be a trick when creating the new class to be visible in all existing viewports or saved views

  8. Hi I know this is really simple however when using the wall tool(can't remember what style i used, I was able to select the preferences and then select the overall size.  Now, it seems like the style wall I selected has no ability to edit the overall size but now have to go into the components and change it from there.  I just want a simple 2 line wall

  9. I have created a rectangle to represent an interior door on a track- Could seem to find out how to create using the door tool.  That being said, I would like this door to be on my door schedule and have a tag associated with it.  Is it possible to add a record to this rectangle shape and add to my door schedule?

  10. When creating my window and door schedule, I number them 1- through the number of windows in the project.  I start on the ground floor and typically go clockwise for the number sequence. then I go first and second floors. etc, etc.

What happens when I decided to add a window late in the project stage after I have already created the window schedule?  An example, I am adding a new window say on the 1st floor that is between windows 113 and 114.  This new ow window I want to be window number to be  114 and all the remaining window number would then need to change up one.  Is there an efficient way to change these windows numbers?

  11. I was hoping people can make some recommendations on what kind of PC laptop to purchase to run 2018 VW architect.  It will not be my main work device as I work mostly on my desktop but would love a laptop when traveling or waiting at appointments and show clients that can handle VW 2018.  I am not a big gamer so it would only be dedicated to VW architects and internet use.  Recommendations would greatly be appreciated it
