  1. I just upgraded to VW-11 and am in the process of upgrading a number of my in-process files to utilize the VW-11 standards for viewports, layer structures, sheets, etc..

I've gone about doing this by making a VW-11 template and then transfering the drawing data to the correctly set up file. My hope was to be able to just cut and paste the objects (by layer and or class if necessary) into the new file. This has worked for some of the data, but when walls are pasted into the new file, they crash the program.

Is there a more expedient way to accomplish what I'm trying to do? Or, is there a way to overcome the fatal problem associated with pasting walls?

    Thanks! [smile]

  2. Text Classes! I've been wanting this aspect for years as well. My hope would be that text attributes could be added to class definitions in the same way that line weight or fill attributes are assigned. That way, they could be universally accessed within existing classes.

Also on this note, It would be very handy to be able to assign hotkeys to text attributes.

    Thanks.

  3. Does anyone understand how to use the "Control Offset" portion of the wall tool?

I hope and suspect that it allows one to shift the centerline of the wall a fixed amount from the line traced by the mouse. This would allow footings to be centered under stemwalls by tracing the outer perimeter of the wall. Yet, there are no visible results when a value is added to the "Control Offset" box.

Any help would be appreciated. - Thanks

  4. I'm having the same problem as wwlightning. The installation software confirms that it has all necessary files, but when run will lock up the computer. The installer log reads as:

Friday, April 12, 2002 4:16 AM Beginning installation.Web Update to VW9.5.1Type of Install: Custom InstallSelected Packages:VectorWorks 9.5.1(that's it...)

    Configuration:Mac G4: 466, OS 9.1 , 384mb ram, Carbon Lib v.1.5.

    Any Ideas?

  5. Thanks to all of you - it worked!

MikeB- Yes, I did have the glazing class set to transparent, by glazing I believe you mean Windows Main and Windows Spec. I set the exterior, interior, and mid surfaces all to transparent.

Matthew-Yes, the window correctly showed up as "Simple Window 2 in wall." - I expect this tip will come in handy later on.

Katie- Third time was the charm. I found that the styles were in fact over-riding what I thought was a correctly set class texture. I now have a better idea as to how the two relate.

    Thanks again!

  6. How does one make windows transparent? I've selected "use transparency" and tried everything form Open GL to the highest Renderworks setting, but all of my window and door objects render as opaque gray surfaces.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
