  1. After importing in to a blank file, if you don't want to change all of the class names, you can simply delete all of the classes except "none" and "dimension" then everything will be on the "none" class. BG
  2. A hatch pattern was placed within a viewport annotation "class". This is the only instance of the hatch pattern in the file. After using the "purge unused objects" the hatch pattern is deleted. Can anyone else duplicate this scenario? BG VWA11.0.1 WinXP
  3. When using the trim tool, if you "miss" the object you are attempting to trim the tool changes back to the 2D selection tool and you have re-select the trim tool again. It would be better if it stayed on the trim tool. BG WinXP VWA11.0.1
  4. Didn't know about the modifier that Jonathan mentioned. Good tip. I have always temporarily grouped the object to be split to avoid splitting other things. BG
  5. apologies for the last post - hit the wrong key. Katie, can you delete this? Thanks BG
  6. Our old CAD program we used years ago (Generic CAD) had the ability to rotate the working view. It was so useful - A big wish for vectorworks to include this. Also something Generic CAD had that was also very useful, having multiple windows (views) on the screen at one time. BG

    Printing Error

Just to let you know, tried using various different fonts - still get errors. But, if we place the drawing label directly on to the sheet layer, not within the viewport annotations "layer" the drawing prints fine. BG

    Printing Error

Hi Katie We get the same error message whether printing to our A3/A4 printer or OCE Plan Printer or printing to PDF. So it is not a problem specific to 1 printer. The latest drawing of mine affected has no text blocks - just a couple of drawing labels. Delete these and the drawing prints fine. Tried changing the font of the drawing labels to a different font but still the error persisted. What is a good font doctor utility and where can we get one. Still don't understand why we only get errors occuring when printing drawings containing viewports? BG
  9. It would be great if the dimension tools snapped on to wall faces. BG WinXP VWA11.0.1

    Printing Error

Hi Katie This error has occured on numerous computers. When it does happen we have to delete various bits of text until we find the offending item. Sometimes it is a dimension, sometimes a drawing label, and sometimes text. The fonts used are always arial and if we delete the offending item and replace it with a "new" item it prints fine. It is very strange and a BIG time waster. We suspect it is something to do with viewports as it didn't happen until Version 11 and doesn't occur when printing design layers. Regards BG
  11. You could also put a "standard" window on each floor in the correct location and then use the eyedropper tool (with "plug in parameters selected) to pick uo the attributes of the window you want and then apply the same attibutes to the windows on the other layers with the eyedropper. BG

    Printing Error

We sometimes get printing errors when printing viewports on sheet layers. Part of the sheet will print only. We get the following error message ERROR: invalidfont OFFENDING COMMAND: show STACK: ( ) Has anyone else had this problem. If we delete the text then it prints fine. We use Arial font. WinXP Pro VWA11.0.1 Thanks BG
  13. Delmer One other use for changing sheets this way that you may be interested in. We make use of the "Edit Script" feature. Often we have objects with the same class settings appear differently on sheet layers. ie. walls on one sheet may be solid filled black and on another sheet they are solid filled white. Regards BG PS Resolve Software advised that this bug is not fixable at this time but hopefully will be in a future version.
  14. I find it better than just selecting the sheet layer from the pull down layer list because choosing the sheets this way maintains the class settings from the previous layer you are working on. Why does this matter? If a class is visible in the viewport but turned off on the global class settings you cannot snap to it. So I use the saved views to move between sheets to ensure that all of the global classes are turned on each time a sheet layer is selected. Hope this makes sense. Regards BG
  15. Delmer I have all of my sheets set up using "saved views". After running the "sheet layer setup" all of the saved view settings are "lost". But it only affects saved views that reference sheet layers. It does not affect saved views that reference design layers. Weird... BG
  16. Tried the sheet layer set-up from Resolve. Worked well but all of the saved view settings were lost making the command unusable. BG Winxp Pro VW11.0.1
  17. I would like to see on Design Layers - An outline of any viewports referenced off this layer. This would possibly be a greyed outline that does not print and would also have some text visible that specifies the Sheet layer where the viewport is located. BG
  18. Paolo, The rotated rectangle problem has always been there since we have used VW, which is quite some time, and it still frustrates us. BG And not being able to rotate the drawing axis is also a frustration that we live with.
  19. Hi Travis Using WinXP Microsoft Word, Excel etc have a "default file location" located under the options menu. This would be a useful little addition to VW. BG
  20. It would be nice to have an option to set the default document location. BG
  21. Definitely. This is a must. I know it can be set using the hatch from the menu but then the hatch just becomes a group of lines. BG
  22. We are also experiencing random crashes like the ones mentioned above and the screen redraw rate seems to be around 3 times slower than 11.0.1. What is the best way to revert back to 11.0.1 on a XP computer? Thanks BG WinXP Pro VW11.5
  23. When opening drawings saved in VW 11.5 format using VW11, a message appears saying that the class visibility has been changed on some viewports and to see these changes look at a text file located in the program folder. Why is this occuring? Very frustrating having to locate these changes and correct them. Thanks BG
