  1. Travis I have VWA11.0.1 Where is the create joists from poly tool found? BG
  2. Hi Katie & others Jonathan's movie shows exactly what the 2D reshape tool should be able to do. But it doesn't work like Jonathan shows. The drawing label does not move even though it is fully enclosed within the marque. Jonathan must be using a drawing label symbol or something. BG
  3. Please enhance the 2D reshape tool so that it moves other 2D items such as PIO's, reference markers, labels. This could be an option that could be turned on or off for those that don't want this function. Thanks BG
  4. Hi Katie No help required thanks. It shouldn't matter what the VW definition is, if it is a 2D object is should move. I will add this to the wishlist. It makes sense to me that the 2D reshape tool would be "better" if it did move all 2D objects including PIO's, reference markers, labels etc. Regards BG
  5. Hi Travis Yes I understand what the 2D reshape tool does, but why can it not move all 2d items? When say you are extending the length of something using the marque, everything extends/moves including dims, text, groups but not PIO's. I cannot think of a reason why these should not be included? They are 2D items. It's a hassle having to manually move these items after resizing the drawing. BG
  6. When using the 2d reshape tool, why do plugin objects, drawing labels, reference markers etc not move? Is this a bug that could be fixed in upcoming releases? BG VWA11 WINXP
  7. This is one downside of adding information on the "annotation" layer of the viewport. It means this "drawing" or "detail" cannot be copied or re-used in another file. BG
  8. Vectorbits.com has a "optimize drawing" tool that deletes duplicate items. BG
  9. I wish that lines etc could be trimmed to a "break line". Thanks BG VW11.0.1 WINXP
  10. Ray "Do a search on "Please save your work and quit immediately to avoid loss of work". Search button is in the upper right hand corner." Is this a search within Vectorworks? BG
  11. Hi Katie Updated the OS and did the disk repairs etc but still getting the same messages. This is happening on multiple files. Any other suggestions? Thanks BG
  12. 2 messages while printing drawings (8 different sheets in the same file), using FILE, PRINT first message ?vectorworks has detected a condition of instability?. Save and quit vectorworks? second message a minute later ?Vectorworks will shortly be unable to continue functioning. Please save your work and quit immediately to avoid loss of work? Any ideas how to prevent these messages happening? VWA11.0.1 G4MacOS10.2.6 768 MB RAM

  14. Does the "change wall thickness tool" under the "AEC" menu not do what you want? You can specify which part of the wall is fixed. BG VWA11.0.1 WinXP
  15. 1. Text: To be able to adjust text character spacing 2. Worksheets: To be able to specify row heights. BG
  16. Does anyone have experience using LCD monitors for CAD work? Any Pros or Cons? Any brands better than others? Thanks Brett

Thanks AnthonyMC, this works great. Brett

    acrobat

Yes, we cannot print large size PDF files either, but have excellent results with smaller size drawings say up to A3 size. It would be nice if Acrobat included larger page sizes in the page size list - the largest they accommodate is A3 without using a custom page size. I think this is where the problem occurs. Brett
  19. We have recently converted some DWG files drawn in Autocad. 2 "sheets" were created in AC (1 sht of plans & 1 sht of elevs) but when converted to VW we ended up with 1 layer with the plans & elevs together and 2 more layers with just title block information. I did speak to them & they drew the plans & elevs on 1 "model" layer and then arranged these plans & elevs on 2 other layers to create the 2 drawings sheets - If you know what I mean! Is there something the person creating the AC file can do to ensure we get the drawings the way they intended? Thanks Brett VWA 9.5 Win XP

    NonPlot

What objects automatically create the "NonPlot" class? Thanks Brett
  21. This is one of the annoying "features" of VW's. Why when you rotate a rectangle does it have to become a polygon? When you rotate a "detail cut wood" or "rectangular tubing" object for example, their dimensions are still editable in the OIP. Regards Brett
  22. What would be so helpful... When the "show dim value" is unchecked in the OIP, the dimension is highlighted in someway so that when you view the drawing it is obvious that the dimension has been "manually" adjusted. BG
  23. Try downloading the "print and stamp" tool from Vectordepot. Everytime you print it updates the date & filename on the drawing. You need to have only 1 instance of this in the file though, so to get it on each sheet you need to place the stamp on a "common" layer that is visible on all sheets. Works well though. Brett
  24. You need to purchase Windoor manager from Julian Carr. You can do virtually any combination of window & doors. We find it excellent. BG http://www.zeta.org.au/~jbcarr/
  25. I have just noticed that "square tubing" when rotated is still "square tubing" and fully editable in the OIP. Obviously the code can't be that difficult to write - I imagine there would be more code required for the rotated tubing object than a simple rectangle. BG
