  1. We have a 3D polygon that we want to extrude vertically, but it only seems to extrude perpendicular to the slope of the polygon.

Is there a way to extrude it vertically?

And is there a way to combine 3D polygons in to a solid object? See attached file.

    Thanks

  2. I may be wrong, but I haven't yet seen a way to get the tops of the walls sloped to match the roof slope - like your sketchup model. The walls that are running perpendicular with the slope have 'flat' tops, so you end up with a messy junction with the walls running up the slope which fit nicely to the roof slope.

    Can anyone verify that?

Our office would love to be able to specify whether the tops of walls are 'flat' or sloped to match the roof.

    Thanks

  3. Hi

One of our staff has an issue when annotating hidden line section viewports. The viewports are rendered in hidden line, but when the annotations are edited, the viewport switches to wireframe. When the annotation is exited, the viewport reverts back to hidden line.

This doesn't happen to me, so not sure what is causing this behaviour?

Also, the Site model on the section viewports, shows a lot of triangulated lines. How do you stop this happening?

    Thanks

  4. When you select a section line marker you get a "Navigate to Section Viewport" option in the Object Info. palette. It would be good if there was the same 'reverse' option to go back to the section line marker from the viewport. Currently there is no quick way of seeing which layer the section was created on - unless we have missed something - which is quite possible.

    Thanks

  5. Hi

One instance is where you have a solid filled or hatched area with some objects on top but within this area. You want to draw a marquee around those objects but you can't because the first click of the marquee selects the filled area. If you could suspend snapping for the first marquee click, then the filled area wouldn't be selected.

That's one example that comes up regularly.

  6. Hi Benson

Thanks, the behaviour is as you described. "Snap suspension does not defeat the Select tool's ability to select".

I would have thought with no snaps turned on, then you wouldn't be able to snap or select anything.

Not sure about how others would prefer it, but I'd like this added as a preference so that snap suspension actually suspends all snapping & selecting.

    Thanks for the reply.

  7. Whenever I cut a section through a DTM, I get the correct section, but it always has a mirrored copy.

Is this how it is supposed to be?

I'd like to attach an image but I can't see how?

    Thanks

  8. Hi

When using the fit walls to objects command, the tops of the walls seem to remain horizontal. This causes some weird junctions at the corners when fitting the walls to a sloping roof. Is there a way to have the tops of the walls slope to match what they are being fitted to?

    Thanks

  9. Sorry if this is a basic question but, recently tried the Callout tool after not using it for some years.

It appears that the callout keynote numbering is specific to the layer it is drawn on?

So you could reference the same note on two different layers and they would have different keynote numbers.

If this is correct, how would you go about having the same number on all layers?

    Thanks

  10. Hi

Sorry I thought this was an easy thing to correct, but obviously not. There is no preferences button on the 'Leader Line Simple' tool. We don't like the way the 'Leader Line' tool works with it's fixed shoulder length.

Using class settings does force the leader line to use the correct arrow head, but this is a work-around that is clumsy. Even with the correct arrow head selected in the attributes palette the leader line simple tool ignores that as uses it's default solid arrow head.

Never mind, we'll use polygons & not use the leader line tools.

    Thanks

    Brett

  11. Yeah, that's an option, but it takes an extra step to add an arrow head to the polygon. The leader line simple tool is obviously meant for the task but always uses a default closed arrow head & we can't see where this is set?

  12. Hi

Sorry for the simple question but this is driving people in our office crazy.

How do you set the default arrow head on the "Leader Line Simple" tool to use marker number 1 style? It keeps defaulting to a solid filled arrow head. We want it to be an open arrow using the dimension thickness.

    Thanks

    Brett
