  1. I am having a similar issue--my published documents are only including foreground Hidden Line renders, overlaid on top of background Custom Renderworks. Basically, it isn't showing all the pretty work in the render in the viewport when I go to pubish. Any one have any workarounds? I have updated the viewports and checked the boxes . . . no luck. Thank you! Rafi
  2. Preliminarily, I am having big problems. Settings are reverting without being manually input and, more nefariously, I have some files that simply won't show up--models I had been working on for over a year that are loading, but nothing is visible. I can't say it is not some other issue--such as a suddenly corrupted file--but the timing is fairly odd. This is brand new to a Catalina update. Hopefully, I'll find something ELSE to be the issue. Anyone else?
  3. Amen, jnr! The stability is EVERYTHING. Even outside of the stair tool, the fact of the matter is, the simple tools are not stable enough and THAT should be the focus. There is a wonderful line from a BBC show that applies here: "I don't want more choice, I just want nicer things!" If the tools we already have were working properly, that would be the big win! (Stairs should be working well, of course).
  4. Thank you so much for telling us (all) that. I had been wondering what if something like what you are saying would fix problems I am experiencing (Mac Pro, 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5, 32 GB 1866 MHz DDR3, AMD FirePro D700 6144 MB video); sounds like not. I'm toast if I try to run VW and Google Chrome at the same time.
  5. Dear Maryradford58, I'm an interior designer. We've been on VW for a few years, now. We purchased a Mac Pro with a whole lot of hardware behind it and, I'm sorry to say, it doesn't seem to be particularly good with VW, either. As I've told the VW team, sometimes I have to push a key 3 or 4 times for a command to register; my models get painfully slow (even on a residential project, which--compared to all the big examples that get shown in the videos--should be a tiny scope for VW to handle), and there are bugs that lose work both with and without crashing. If you find the magic bullet, please share it with me. I'm currently re-doing 2 full days worth of work that vanished, suddenly. Fun times! Happy drafting. Rafi
  6. How is it possible that VW doesn't have proper nana-type or pivot doors? You could not be more right. It's absurd, the stairs, doors, and windows are not better resolved. How do we get this at the top of the list?
  7. Thank you mac@stairworks! I went back to it because you said so and, well . . . you're right. It definitely has limits, BUT with some manipulation, you can get a decent enough representation for a first round, to be detailed out separately, I think. Is that how you do it? VW should work on it, I think. No reason it isn't more robust. R
  8. Okay--I'm really struggling with the rail tool. I was able to manipulate the stair tool to do what I needed (note--I am really new to VW), but the railing tool. . . it's a beast! I am trying to make it work and I'm really struggling. Fence, sure. No trouble, but STAIRS? What gives? The video is basically useless as it only shows how to make it work on a much more spread out pathway. I could really use a video on how to use this tool on stairs. Help! Rafi
  9. This conversation is making me sad. We are brand new to VW (2017), coming from SketchUp and CAD. There are major bonuses, clearly, to VW, but as we move forward with our first ground-up build, I am having a difficult time with custom cabinetry. We only ever do custom millwork. I was looking forward to all the strengths that VW has to offer--the precision over SketchUp, specifically--but I am reading this and feeling as though we may need to model in SketchUp, our millwork and import it into our VW models. Is the plug-in really that great and useful or is it basically a more robust version of what is already in the main software? We do a mix of hospitality, commercial, and high-end residential, with a major focus on residential. Our works is always bespoke. Thank you all for being a part of this conversation. Best, Rafi Kalichstein, Principal FORM Design Studio www.FORM-DesignStudio.com
  10. Dear Henry, Please keep me posted on what you learn. We do a tremendous amount of custom cabinetry design and we are brand new to Vectorworks. We were not expecting to need additional plug-in support for this functionality, but are trying to find the best solution. Thank you for asking about it! Rafi VW 2017
