  1. There is a bug with spotlight symbols inside of groups and Lightwright data exchange. I have a file syncing with LW, and as soon as I group a light, it duplicates in Lightwright. According to Lightwright both instruments have the same UID. Running VW 2023 SP4 and LW6 6.0.47.471. MacOS 12.6.2.
  2. Hi Mark, I made a quick video of how this works in Capture. Obviously the trade off is that your 2D and 3D views are no longer linked so they can't update the way schematic views do. But when I'm drafting for theater I often need to do very precise sidelight plates that really exceed the level of control I can get from a schematic view. https://youtu.be/_143k2_gGbA Screen Recording 2023-02-08 at 5.24.34 PM.mov Hopefully that video link works!
  3. There should be a way to "unlink" the 2D and 3D compontents of spotlight symbols on a per-instance basis. This would allow 3D components of symbols to live in their real world position for accurate modeling while being able to arrange 2D fixtures as needed for clean Light Plot drafting. Capture Visualizer has this functionality and it is a much more elegant solution than schematic views. Schematic views are too limited in their visual appearance and workflow. A new "unlink 2D and 3D positions" option in the OIP would also allow us to do this without creating Spotlight Rigging object, which are often unnecessary and over-complicate files.
  4. I have a bunch of 2D label legends that reference text styles for Unit numbers, Channels, etc. Occasionally for reasons I can't figure out my Unit Numbers size will change to 0.1 and the references in the label legend to the text style will break. If I edit the label legend and try to change the unit number back to the text style, it stays 0.1 size. Eventually after I refresh the instruments and fiddle around the with the text style size enough the legend seems to go back to normal. But I'm not sure what causes the bug or what makes it go away. I'm running VW 2022 SP 3 on Mac OS 12.1.
  5. Has this been resolved? I'm still seeing duplicate lights on V2020 export files sent to me from VW2021.
  6. Thank you! Annoyed I didn't catch that myself!
  7. For some reason, the symbol insertion tool is not working for me. Prior to VW2017, I would double click a symbol in my resource browser, then click anywhere in my drawing to place, then angle a 2D symbol. Now, when I double click a symbol in the browser, it selects the symbol insertion tool correctly, but when I click to place the symbol it says "A symbol needs to be selected" in the bottom righthand corner. Running VW2017 SP2 on Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.5. Any help would be much appreciated!
  8. Yep, definitely downloaded, it is a custom symbol.
  9. Been running into a few problems with symbols in 2017 I've never seen before: When I layer a normal 2D symbol on top of a lighting instrument, then zoom out, the stacking order gets messed up and the lighting instrument is on top. Double clicking a 2D symbol in the resource manager brings up the symbol selection tool, yet when I click to place the symbol, I get the error "A symbol needs to be selected." It can still be dragged from the resource manager to be placed, but this is inconvenient. I never encountered this issue in previous versions. Any help/insight much appreciated!
  10. I believe I found a bug on VW2017 build 327801. I lay down a spotlight instrument, then add an additional 2D symbol on top of it. Then, when I zoom or pan the drawing, the spotlight symbol superimposes itself on top of the 2nd symbol and stays there. I can go back and fix the sort order by saying "send to back," but when I zoom it gets messed up all over again. I never noticed this in 2015 or 2016. Thanks!
