  1. I know I posted this a very long time ago, but Spotlight is STILL losing my accessories every time I import info from Lightwright. This time my accessories are CXI color scrollers with channel data, not static accessories. I have them designated as "Accessory" in Object Info. I want them to have the same Position and Unit# as their linked instrument, and I want them show up in their OWN row in Lightwright. First of all, WHY is Spotlight DELETING units without my sayso, and how can I get accessories to work right EVERY time I import and export?? Ethan Mac OS 10.3.5 / Vectorworks Spotlight 11.0.1
  2. Figured out the problem. The "Device Type" information was missing from the symbol's Light Info Record. Ethan
  3. I have a few lights in my drawing (ETC Source4 Par) that will not allow me to change their Instrument Type data in the Object Info Palette. No matter what I try to enter in the field, the Instrument Type remains stuck with the text "Light". These lights also do not show up in the Find and Modify screen. Strangely though, this is only happening with to 8 of the 12 Source4 Pars in my drawing. What is the problem? 4. Thanks Ion, I found, after reading the strings that you posted, that opening VW11 in Classic 9 appears to solve this issue in all of the delinquent files. No need to touch my network settings, automatic save settings, or Disk Utility. It just appears that Vectorworks 11 doesn't like Panther, for whatever reason. Still, I only wonder why it happens in some files, but not in others. Also, I know people running the same configuration as me that would certainly complain about the Object Info Palette speed, but never encountered the crippling problem that I have. 5. 6 months ago, I switched platforms from PC to Mac and upgraded VW Spotlight from v9 to v11. Since then I have been having a recurring problem of certain Vectorworks drawings causing my whole system to hang for 5-10 second intervals. I have no idea what the exact cause of the problem is, but I do know these things: - It does not happen with all files, only some. (95% of the files I produce are light plots in Spotlight.) - Larger, more complicated Spotlight files never lagged my old PC like this, which had half the processor speed and the same amount of RAM. - This does not appear to be a RAM issue, because Activity Monitor shows Vectorworks grabbing 70-99% of my processor activity for 5-10 seconds a few times each minute. - The problem has been occuring since I first bought the computer and installed Vectorworks, so reformatting will not likely fix it. - My OLD system configuration (NO problem): Vectorworks Spotlight 9.5.2 Pentium III 866MHz 512MB RAM 32MB Video RAM Windows ME - My CURRENT configuration: Vectorworks Spotlight 11.0.1 Powerbook G4 1.5GHz 512MB RAM 64MB Video RAM Mac OS 10.3.5 I'm usually pretty savvy when it comes to figuring this stuff out, but this time I'm totally stumped. If anybody out there is running a similar configuration, I would be happy to send you one of the files to test. Has anybody else encountered a bug like this? 6. Is there any plan to implement mouse wheel support to scroll up and down in the "Classes" and "Layers Setup" windows and the "Replace Symbol" window? If not, there should be. Ethan VW 11.0.1 / MacOS 10.3.5
  7. Sue, I use a Kensington mouse with Vectorworks 11.0.1 on OSX. I have that same problem with the wheel being too sensitive. Did you ever discover a solution to this problem?
  8. Does anybody know of a trick to make Vectorworks count multicircuit lights correctly? The multicircuit function is great for adding multiple colors and channels to a single striplight fixture, but it also counts that fixture multiple times and throws your inventory out of whack, creating major budgeting problems for the non-drafting people who don't understand how Vectorworks counts multicircuit fixtures, and don't know how to import to LightWright. 9. I know this post was a long time ago, but I am STILL having this problem, even after deleting all of my old label legends and starting from scratch. A working example of the problem: I have a basic legend called "S4 VERT", and another legend called "BOOM R" which is the same as S4 VERT, but with the CHANNEL circle on the right side of the unit. -When I create a unit with S4 VERT, then change it to BOOM R, all of the labels update properly to their BOOM R positions. Then, when I change it back to S4 VERT, the CHANNEL circle remains in its same place. -Likewise, when I grab any label and move it to an arbitrary position, it remains locked there, and will not move when I reassign the legend. -Also, my UNIT NUMBER label is locked in place. When I try to drag it, I get get the little + under my cursor, but then when I drop it, the label doesn't move. This is just a single specific example of this problem, in one of its many iterations. Sometimes the PURPOSE won't update when I reassign the legend. Sometimes the COLOR label gets locked so I can't drag it. I've adjusted my snap settings, that has no effect. I'm not a programmer, so I do not understand how number rounding would affect this problem. Please help me out here. I cannot create a professional-looking plot in Vectorworks until I've fixed this problem. Ethan Mac OS 10.3.5 / VW Spotlight 11.0.1
  10. I have been having an issue with Spotlight losing my accessories. I will be working on a drawing for a while, and then I will look and find that none of my sidearms or irises are there anymore. All classes and layers are turned on and Export Insturment Data does not show any accessories. They are getting deleted somehow. This has happened twice this week and it is very time consuming to have to re-add all of my accessories from earlier documents. I have been importing back and forth from lightwright a bit, but that shouldn't remove accessories from my plot, should it? Ethan VW 11.0.1 MacOS 10.3.4
  11. Did a reinstall the way you said, those options still aren't there. Ethan
  12. Strange... the only option I see in the Workspace Editor under "Export Previous Version" is "Export as Vectorworks 10", which is already in my menu.
  13. Is it possible to export a drawing from v11 to anything earlier than v10? (Specifically v9.5) All I see on the Export menu is "Export to v10". I am using Spotlight v11, MacOS 10.3 Ethan ethan@conspirators.net [ 07-13-2004, 07:04 PM: Message edited by: Ethan ]
  14. I've always had an issue in Spotlight 9.5 with labels getting "locked" into place despite my updating the legend, reassigning the legend, and continually refreshing the labels. Sometimes the Color will get locked into place so that I cannot even click and drag it to a new place. I just got a new Powerbook with Vectorworks 11. After changing operating systems and upgrading two versions higher, the problem remains. So I figure it must be a problem with my label legends. What could be causing this? Ethan VW SL 11 / Mac OS 10.3
  15. Aha. I had 26. I tend to use a lot of different label legends, and I've encountered this problem before. Is this any better in V10?
  16. When I try to go to the Label Legend Manager or Assign Legend to Insts, I get a VectorScript error: _647_661 - Index otside array limits. What gives? I'm using Spotlight V9.5.2 on WindowsME. [ 04-05-2004, 02:02 AM: Message edited by: Ethan ]
  17. I am running Spotlight v9.5.2. I have been working on the same document for the past few weeks, but when I opened up the document this morning, the line dash styles were all shrunken down and useless. I looked at the attribute defaults, and somehow all of the regular Vectorworks dash styles that I like to use had been changed. Is there a way to restore the dash style attribute defaults without going through and writing down all of the defaults from a different document, then replacing them all one-by-one?
  18. Okay, here's a new one... When I modify the positions of labels in the Label Legend Manager, the Purpose, Template, and Unit Number labels all update when I click "Refresh labels" in the Object Info palette. However, when I modify the positions of Color or Channel, the "Refresh labels" button doesn't work. Instead, I have to go up to the Spotlight menu and re-assign the legend to the unit to get it to update. This is very inconvenient, what's going on here? -Ethan Kaplanegkaplan@bu.edu
  19. I am I trying to export my groundplan to an image file. When I click Export/Image File... Vectorworks does nothing. What am I doing wrong?
  20. Supposing an error was made on the default value, it is quite inconvenient to have to change that value for ever unit that is inserted. Is there any way to correct this? (i.e. -- Is it possible to access the Lighting Device Preferences dialogue box after the first device has been inserted to the drawing? If not, is there any other way to change the default insertion values?)
  21. Please disregard this post. Forgot to download that patch.
  22. My custom unit symbols turn to rectangles upon editing if they are inserted as lighting devices, or conversion to lighting devices if they are inserted as 2D symbols. The symbols are all there in the resources, and if I click "Replace with Active Symbol," it fixes the problem, but only until the symbol is edited again. I noticed that many other people have posted similar problems, but none of the fixes described in those topics seem to be working for me.
  23. When I tell Spotlight to draw beam angle on my custom lighting symbols, I get an Invalid Field/Beam angle error. How can I setup my custom symbols to allow them to draw beam angles?
