  1. Same problem here. Running MacOS 10.4.7 on a cable modem
  2. Another issue I've come across since upgrading to V12: Sometimes my OIP freezes. No matter what I select or deselect, the OIP stays with the previous selection. The issue is only specific to 1 open window, other open files work fine. Sometimes I can resolve it by opening up another file and selecting, then deselecting something. Sometimes I have to quit and restart Vectorworks. Any ideas? Ethan VW Spotlight v12.0.1 Mac OS 10.4.7
  3. Thanks Kevin. Is Diskwarrior really worth the $80?? What are some of its capabilities, and why heck aren't they in Disk Utility?
  4. I am running VW 12.0.1 in MacOS 10.4.7. I have noticed that VW12 has added the Gobo1 label to all of my imported label legends from (replacing the old "Template" class from v11.5). However, there are various legends (such as striplights) where I do not want the Gobo1 label. I find that when I try to remove GOBO1 in the Label Legend Manager via "Choose Fields", it removes the CHANNEL label instead! What gives? Ethan VW Spotlight 12.0.1 MacOS 10.4.7
  5. What would be considered a "suspect" font?
  6. I have been experiencing frequent crashes (less than every 10 minutes) on the Spotlight file I am working on. It is a particularly simple file, a bunch of rectangles, and less than 50 light objects so far. Crashes occur randomly, when I edit text, move lights, move text, etc. Crashes have been very frequent since upgrading to 12, but never as bad as today. I have already tried rebooting. Any other ideas? Ethan Spotlight 12.0.1 Mac OS 10.4.7
  7. I think I figured it out -- I may have had units selected in a layer that was turned off. Ethan
  8. In the particular document I am working on, Auto Number Units is not working properly. The function takes too long, and then randomly numbers the units I have selected, usually with number in 100's. Any idea what might cause this? Ethan Vectorworks 11.5.1 MacOS 10.3.9
  9. Wasn't aware of the 11.5.1 update till today, and I just installed it. I was very disappointed to see that the mouse wheel STILL does not work in the "Classes" and "Layers Setup" windows, as well as the "Replace Symbol" window in OS X. Is it too much to ask that the mouse wheel work in ALL of the windows in this professional CAD application? Am I the only one asking for this?? Is there something wrong with my computer?? 10. Is it possible to change the color and other line attributes of beams drawn in Spotlight? Ethan Vectorworks 11.5 MacOS 10.3.9
  11. quote: Originally posted by Katie: The problem in 11.0.0 and 11.0.1 is that both the overall document class visibility and the viewport visibility had to be set to at least the same in order to see objects. I don't understand why that's a problem.
  12. What does it do? I'm also finding it very time-consuming to turn labels on and off in Spotlight for printing, since I now have to click on EVERY SINGLE viewport in all 3 of my plates to turn purposes and color information on and off before printing.
  13. That's too bad... it's so much easier to create saved views that turn the Viewport class on and off, rather than have to go into the class visibilities on the viewport itself.
  14. I used to like to set up my viewport crops into a class so I could easily turn them on and off. Am I crazy, or was it once possible to turn the viewport crops on and off just by turning their class on and off while working in that sheet layer? Now, I'm noticing I have to turn the class on in the Viewport itself. Ethan VW 11.5
  15. That is true. Microsoft has certainly integrated the use of a mouse wheel into the Windows interface better than the Mac software. One of the first things a PC user will say when he or she doesn't want to switch is "I can't function without a 2-button mouse." Despite the automatic Apple user's response of "You CAN use a 2-button mouse with a Mac," it's still an obviously new concept for the Apple programmers, in that the right mouse button still has limited capability. For instance, right-clicking on the title bar of a window on the Mac does nothing, where in Windows you always get a contextual menu. However, if Apple is going to pass the ball on to the 3rd-party software manufacturers, then that makes it Nemetschek's responsibility, and they have dropped the ball. Continuing my tirade.... If Apple really wants to continue courting Windows users, they are going to have to get off their high horse soon and start making a 2-button mouse standard, and start really supporting it with their own software. On a similar topic, I haven't seen a single new feature in Tiger that merits even a thought about upgrading...
  16. That's correct, but on the Mac, you have to hold Shift or Command and use the mouse to select multiple layers. I am talking about Shift or Command+Arrow Keys, like Mr. Delmer can do on his PC.
  17. Right, I compiled a list every window I could think of that didn't support mouse wheel scrolling. Are there any others? I also think it reflects poorly on the program's planning that the mouse wheel works in some windows, but not others.
  18. In the Class and Layer Visibility screens, I notice you can scroll up and down using the up/down arrows. However, the left/right arrows do nothing. They should be made to move the little diamond left and right, thus allowing you to completely control that screen without having to reach over to your mouse. You should also be able to hold shift and arrow up/down to select multiple layers. Ethan Vectoroworks 11.5 Mac OS 10.3.9
  19. What will it take to add mouse wheel functionality to the following windows/dialogue boxes: Classes Class Visibilities Layers Layer Visibilities Symbol Replace Edit Saved View If this fix is made, it should immediately be made into an update and sent out to everyone. No need to wait for a major update package. This is the single most annoying defect in Vectorworks. Releasing a fix would increase my productivity greatly. Ethan Vectorworks 11.5 Mac OS 10.3.9
  20. I like to export User Fields 1 and 2 every time I send info out to Lightwright. I find that saving an export map file and having to access it every time I export is actually slower than clicking "Lightwright" and then manually adding in the User Fields from the list. I notice there is a button called "User...", which is defined in the help file as "Restores the last saved or loaded set of instrument data fields." Sounds like exactly what I need. However, this button is always grayed and inactive. What does it take to activate it? Ethan Mac OS 10.3.9 Vectorworks Spotlight 11.5
  21. A Mac User's first impressions on 11.5.... ----------------------- THE "GOOD": Looks like Object Info Palette refresh speed has been improved for OS 10.3. Thank you. Good to see an effort was made to improve the TRIM tool. Folder Structure List in Resource Browser Palette is FINALLY alphabetized. ------------------- THE "STILL NOT FIXED": STILL no mouse wheel support in Layer/Class windows for MacOS?? This functionality is also missing from "Replace Symbol" window, "Edit View" window, and countless others. I notice you can now arrow up and down through the Layer/Class windows, but if you can't make any changes to class/layer visibility using the keyboard, then what's the point? Mouse wheel scrolling on the drawing itself is still WAAYYY too sensitive. One click of the wheel moves half the page. Still can't edit parameters of multiple like objects (IE take 3 circles and change their diameters to 2' simultaneously) Spotlight Inventory Report still uses "Symbol Name" to distinguish between Instrument Types, not "Instrument Type" Field. ----------------- I've been begging for these fixes for a long time. Somebody please let me know if the above issues have already been solved and if any of these problems are caused by my own setup. 22. Thanks Bruce, that script did the trick. For anyone reading this string in the future, you can find that script on the Nemetschek Theatre Mailing List. You need to be a subscriber to the list before you can access the archive. Ethan [ 01-16-2005, 12:29 PM: Message edited by: Ethan ]
  23. I am interested in an answer to this too. Because my pipes are all straight and hang flat, the only data I am really interested in is the X-Axis data for each light, since I can grab big groups of lights for each electric in my 3D Software and give them all identical Y and Z coordinates at once. Is there a way to export the X-coordinate value as a field to Lightwright? Alternatively, is there a way to use Find and Modify to copy the X-coordinate value to an unused field (like User Field 2) and THEN export to Lightwright? 24. Talked to Nemetschek, and fixed the problem. My import instrument data plugin file was outdated or corrupted. Nemetschek sent me the new file and that took care of the problem.
  25. - Lightwright 4 - The accessories are all there in Lightwright. - The accessories are listed as "Lights" under "Instrument Type" in Lightwright. Is that the problem? How do I fix it? [ 12-20-2004, 12:44 PM: Message edited by: Ethan ]
