  1. HI Jim, It is very tricky, but this is a horrible solution that I sometimes use on projects where fees are challenging.....It's quick'n'dirty but ok for 2D/low res images. Basically tweaking the spring and rise settings to keep the whacky geometry extending outside the object. try playing around with those 2 values and see what I mean....B
  2. Tip: I have found that viewports 'forget' to display textures when rendering in GL. After checking all of the usual suspects - see settings described above, if still no textures in the rendered VP, then go into design layer and choose drop down render menu to GL options and you will usually find the show texture button toggled off, just toggle to on, render and return to VP - all is good again. VW VPs seem to forget textures occasionally.
  3. Thanks Wes, It is day 2 of working with stories so getting a little punch drunk....thanks for that-all clear now. Does it actually make any difference whether you create a new level whilst in the EDIT STOREY window rather than creating it in DEFAULT LIST and then going back to choose it from drop down list ? apart from obviously not being their next time you want to create the same type of level next time?
  4. I have been reverse engineering your model example and I can see the storey set up and the additional offset level -3', but I get the same data oin the OIP for both normal and the dropped wall? I looked in the wall style and again the settings look identical? I cannot see how the 3' wall bottom drop is obtained either by referencing the additional dropped level in storey levels or bu overriding in OIP? I can see the lower slab utilises the OIP bottom offset though. using vw2020 . any thoughts?
  5. Clear and concise as ever Wes. I am currently interested in choosing which way to go on the project set up by stories/no stories and opt for '...... a perfectly fine model WITHOUT stories' keeping with the 'KISS' strategy for template projects in the office. Just wondering if there are any significant dis/advantages further along the project development in terms of energy expended versus actual useable, efficiently created building information? I think that stories are too complicated for work on small existing buildings and more suited to larger new buildings. Although I do like the accuracy of the different levels that relate to reality. Stories appear to be too complicated for no appreciable advantage over the much simpler Level method you suggested to Robert. Do you have any thoughts on this ? Grateful for you numerous post that have solved many issues over the years. Brian
