  1. I'm having trouble exporting from VW 8.5 to epsf: In VW 8.0 (I guess) I developed the habit to clear the drawing from everything not needed (purge command) changing all symbols to groups (nested symbols caused problems). Now I' m having trouble with transparent hatches which are exported as three objects: the actual lines, an outline and a surface. I only want the lines (shadows in architectural elevations) so I have to delete them in Illustrator which is pretty annoying. I also tried to create a ps file by means of the laserprinter driver (option: print to file): same problem. Who can help me please. Is there general information about creating epsf files from VW

  3. Well, apparently, I touched a sensitive chord; the feature looked so obvious to me that I couldn't think of any other reason than being stupid myself (yes . . . not reading manuals). I really think that the feature is very helpfull in the earlier stages of the deign process. Most of the time, I duplicate the floorplan a few times and rotate them but this time I had to work with a huge file (imported complex dxf) and then VW gets pretty slow( even on a fast G4) Anyway, I join the last writers in making a plea to NNA to include the feature.Even in the earliest versions of Photoshop (I know, I know....that's about pixels, not about vectors) one could rotate either the image or the canvas.
  4. Thanks Robert, I got the same tip in another area of these techboards, but somehow I never got the clue concerning layer linking; I didn't see the benefits.I hoped there was an easier way. And as turning the monitor upside down isn't an option either, I guess I have to dive in those manuals again.
  5. Carl, Thanks for the tip; I received the same one on another area of these techboards, but . . . . . I studied Layer Linking some time ago but I didn't get the clue; guess I have to dive in again. Katie, No, you are referring to the view options for a 3D model; I'm working in 2D.Think of making a drawing the traditional way; You draw a floorplan and after that pick up the lines to make the elevations. The easiest way to do that is turn the paper 90 degrees for each one of the elevations. To do the same in VW, I would have to turn my monitor upside down. The only trick I can think of is rotating the content of the drawing (f.i. 90 degrees) but then I have to be sure that all of the layers are visible (I tend to make them invisible, when they contain information I only use once in a while) and make them invisible again afterwards.I don'y want to alter the drawing, just have a look at it from an angle.
  6. Using the arrowkeys (MAC) moves you through the drawing (without effecting its content). Is there a similar way to rotate a whole drawing without effecting the content (90 degrees left and right and 180 degrees) ?At the moment, when drawing elevations and sections from a plan, I have to:- make all layers visible - select all- rotate 90 degrees. Switching from west to north elevation means, repeating this whole time-consuming procedure.Particularly in the first design-phase I like to have everything on one worksheet. It would make sense to have the whole drawing rotate left or right with a single command (like we used to do on the drawingboard)Does anyone know of something like that ?
