  1. At the risk of sounding like a broken record.... but developers have already solved this problem with 3rd party code. They put valid constraints in the header of the library. Should a library not update in a timely manor for the new version the user can fork the library themselves, update it then offer it back to the original contributor to merge into their library. Sure that is subject the copyright agreement in place but (broken record is back) developers have good examples here to leverage.
  2. In those instances where you mostly want the original style but change 1 or 2 items why can't we have compound styles?
  3. The software developers of Vectorworks already understand this part of creative processes very well and have tools to do exactly the same thing with code. (Subbversioning) Incidentally there are the same tools that let them works together in a fashion not dissimilar to how we works as well. If only we had the same tools inside the program..... 😉 Yes these things are much needed.
  4. We use a lot of design layers 3 or 4 per floor as a starting place for various reasons and I can suggest from that something in this direction is still needed. If not classes fixed forward and back. I wonder if the cutting plane could be used as the default screen plane of the layer so "annotation" objects would land on that instead of the layer plane like model objects.
  5. Jokes like "surely that is false advertising that breaches consumer laws"
  6. Someone tackling low-hanging fruit would never be bad as far as most software titles are concerned. I can count on one hand the number of Architects, set designers or Landscape Architects I know who got the reference. Can you explain in that context how a rendered post-processed view relates to the clip cube, a working view?
  7. .... I mean most of them don't make any sense and the ones that do rely on a fairly obscure geek cultural reference. Clip cube toolbar icon is just bizarre. It's what part of teapot but could just be strange shading.
  8. Anyone one using a MacBook Air 13 M1 or M2 for Vectorworks? Looking probably the 24Gb Ram model and it would be a homework machine more than daily driver? So not the main use and rendering would be limited or bumped to the cloud. A toss up between this or the MacBookPro 14 16Gb Both would seem a very upgrade from the MCP13 2019 I'm using.
  9. It would be great if they had a staff member in the code team dedicated to low hanging fruit like this. Great way of young coder to get a job and some experience. We all started there we all know how much value it adds to the team to have someone young, green and keen to just get smaller issues out of the way. Plus they generally bring new music to the play list.
  10. The interesting thing with the WWDC videos is it seems in Apple's mind this is the touch screen Macbook. They didn't make a faster horse.
  11. When people say the price is high I think of another Gibson Quote. “The future is already here – it's just not evenly distributed. The Economist, December 4, 2003” I can't help but comparing this to the first laptops that really made sense the late 90's Powerbooks where the keyboard moved to the back and it all made sense. Sure it took 10 years for that cost/benefit to even out and be common but the potential was there. I guess the question is will an existing CAD vendor jump in and disrupt the market position or will a whole new player emerge from the kitchen table?
  12. The code for this calculation already exists in the stair tool to calculate riser heights for a given climb. Hey maybe if we need to do more advanced math we should have the ability to do more advanced math in field.
  13. Paste in place should try and match as much of the conditions of the object copied as possible. So if a door is copied from a wall with the swing in a certain direction relative to the wall. It Should if copied to another layer with wall in the target zone insert in the wall with the swing in the same direction, without needing to copy the whole wall.
  14. I assume uses like key plans, different scales..... Would be great if it could deal with viewports spanning multiple pages as well.
  15. That would be my go to in this situation, you'd still need to model a basic "field" of the existing building say the stage platform and side walls massing to make sure camera match is good. Once done add the new work on an additional layer so you can turn existing off.
  16. Like the old blue lead pencil the photocopiers and dyeline machines didn't pick up.
  17. Ohhh..... It presents as a pop-over on the page and pop up blocker blocks it. They should change that.
  18. It would be nice if there was a way to undo the last change to a specific object if there are changes for that object in the current undo stack? Not suggesting undo history for every object just if a changed an object then did 2 other things to different objects I could leave those 2 other change in place and jump straight to undo of the item I want. If there are no changes for that object in the stack it would tell me nothing can be done.
  19. The link should take you to the feedback page for "Unit Plan" Tom W. has linked above. Worth adding a comment and maybe an encouraging critical feature in the survey to help it keep on track.
  20. The following item on the roadmap seems vaguely promising for improvements in this area. https://www.vectorworks.net/en-AU/public-roadmap?url=unit-plan
  21. Yes Modal is bad.... Really bad in VW they keep adding it not taking it away.
  22. in the Publish command if the tick "Export Seperate PDF" in "File Export Options" then the naming system is applied to the PDF not the sheet in the PDF. Similarly the naming scheme can be applied to DWG and other export file types. Yes could be some improvements around saving naming schemes as it isn't the most obvious system and would benefit from being available across files or an office.
  23. It would be great if there was a single button on each title block to flag it for revision or issue. Then we could collect and apply the same note to all of them in one place.
  24. Not suggesting it is easy but there are any number of objects that could benefit from a Along a path mode. A generalised plug-in smart container for this could be useful.
  25. I'd use elevation markers as we'd generally also have annotations between each IE. Where a bent sections is a tool for showing the direct sectional relationship at that fold line.
