  1. Hi All,

So I started experimenting with adding movement circles into the 3D component of my Lighting Devices. These are circle objects with a dashed line type, flipped up into the appropriate 3d space. They are great for 3d sections I've been generating.

However, it appears that these 2d objects do not move appropriately when Set 3d Orientation is used. The circles are grouped appropriately inside the symbol with the appropriate Part and so forth, so I do not think it is built incorrectly. Furthermore, as soon as I convert the circle to a 3D Poly and refresh instruments, it immediately moves to the correct location. This is less than, because then I cannot easily make it a dashed line type.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Ben

  2. Thank you for taking a look at this! I have attached a simplified and stripped down file that exhibits the same behavior. I layer imported a portion of the original drawing into a blank VWX file, and then added a quick sheet layer with a few OGL VPs.

Hmm, can simply just drawing complexity be an issue here? That is unfortunate if that is indeed the case, because it feels like the project is well within VW's modeling capabilities and overall scope.

    Thanks,

    Ben

  3. I work a lot with nested symbols and typically have many classes held inside various container symbols. I really like using the Visibility tool as a direct way to control what I'm seeing, but when I hover over a symbol, all I can turn off is the container class that the symbol lives on, not the potentially many sub-classes held within. I wish there was a way to tell it to look inside the symbol to select a class, rather than just the container.

  4. So I actually faced this issue previously and was able to get some success with somewhat of a workaround.

Hopefully the screenshots below make this more clear, but essentially, you take the "generate section viewport from clip cube", and dump that on a design layer as a DLVP. This gives you a section viewport (with live cutting & hatching on one side), but you also get cuts on other sides that are cropped by the clip cube. You can then manually add in 3d hatching on these other sides that have been clipped. Since this is on a design layer, you can then orbit it however you want and take a sheet layer viewport of this from whatever orientation you want.

  5. Hi All,

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong here. So I have a referenced DLVP. Everything is great. I have then imported all the classes from the referenced File via Viewport Class Properties Dialog, with the hopes that in conjunction with the "Use current document's class visibilities" I can selectively turn geometry on and off without mucking with the referenced file. This all works, except that when I turn "Use current document's class visibilities" On, I lose the ability to snap to anything in the viewport! 2D Top/Plan as well as all 3D snaps. Can't set working planes to faces, etc.

    Thoughts?
