  1. Dexie Far easier to ask the surveyor to resend a text file with ID, Northing, Easting, Elevation & Description.
  2. digitalmechanics Like how you did the gabions in #392, are they a hybrid symbol & are they going to be used as a site modifier?
  3. Petri any chance of sharing your plug-in, if it shows z-coordinate? Would like to tru & use it to layout manholes. Thanks
  4. Petri all my layouts are done with a robotic total station using point data. You & I are showing our age as bearing & distance layout hasn't be used since the days of the old transit & chain.
  5. Your file 375-test4.vwx can no longer be downloaded, but I had looked at your file & thought I had responded. I have been reporting a problem with polylines for years where the automatic midpoint between arc vertexes will reduce the radius if the end point of 1 of the arcs is greater than one half of the tangent distance between the vertexes. The work around is to place an additional corner vertex on the line between the vertexes, but be prepared for a tonne (ton) of fun with reversing curves.
  6. You have a solution - create your own software.
  7. Get the actual survey data from the surveyor, which will be in the form of point data, not the converted "AutoCAD survey". This will save a lot of time & potential mistakes. There are numerous previous postings on this.
  8. Petri Directly on the sheet layer not as annotation. Chris They don't have to be scaled as the sheet layer is 1:1, therefore, the symbol is the size it was created at & classes are automatically added to the file when the legend symbol is applied from the resource browser. I thought this was a wonderful feature that Nemetschek had built into sheet layers.
  9. Petri My legends & typical road sections are symbols & placed placed directly on the sheet layer, making it is easier to position them relative to the drawing border & so that they don't obscure objects on the drawing.
  10. Petri This problem has persisted for a very long time, I have reported it since 1998. A one occasion I laid out curbs for a road intersection incorrectly because of it! The problem with arc polylines are when the tangent of 1 curve is greater than 1/2 of the distance between the intersection points. The mid point created by Vectorworks does not allow this, therefore it changes the radius. The arc vertex mode was probably only intended as a corner fillet tool. My work round is to add an additional vertex between the vertexes, very tedious process when you have closed polylines for pavement surfaces, curb & gutter, sidewalks & road right-of-way. Reversing curves are a nightmare. The swearing at VectorWorks & MiniCad programs is very intense when a intersection has to be revised. What is needed is a vertex mode that places an arc between intersecting tangents by retaining the intersection point, ie like highway design & land surveying software.
  11. I just tested 175-Test.mcd & just as jfitch stated not only do the vertex radii change, but the shape changes as well. See jpeg 175-Test.jpg.
  12. If you provide more information regarding what you want to accomplish (ie offset arc polylines, closed arc polyline objects & do you require more polylines than a just carriageway centre-line, pathway, do you require kerbs, etc & do hope to accomplish it in 3-D & what version of Vectorworks you are using?) I could help you. Offset arc polyline objects are best created using VectorBits offset path tool.
  13. Hi am deeply indebted to Erez Anzel of COMPUneering as I use his LANDesign program practically everyday since 1994 & I works perfectly in Classic mode. Petri if you can provide something better than Landmark I will pay you big bucks, just like I did to Erez. Using software that has not been updated in 13 years everyday because it is still the best & have tried others, come on Nemetschek lets try to expand beyond software for square 3D McMansions, it can be done if you step outside the BOX.
  14. There is a plug-in from Vectorbits to centre a page on a rectangle, "VB Center Page on Rect.vst", that I use all the time because my drawings use UTM coordinates.
  15. I am very interested to know if it is really possible in Vectorworks to correctly display a real world (3D) parking area. Actually what I mean is create a parking lot from an irregular shape (arc & corner vertex) that has variable slope to numerous catch basins and curbing to control traffic & water, which is most ground level parking lots. I never been asked to design a rectangular one with only 1 catch basin, to bad as it is doable in Vectorworks.
  16. Robert Is it possible to access the bug list as I wasted countless hours on this one. I am sure that thousands of hours are wasted in frustration by users on bugs that have been reported & verified by Nemetshek. As you are aware as a road designer the majority of my drawings are composed of arc polylines.
  17. When an arc polyline is offset the resulting object becomes a polygon with a zillion vertex.
  18. As a road designer the ability have layers & classes is the reason I have VectorWorks. I can't envision having road alignment options, road surfaces, drainage, utilities, cadestral, contours, DTM, landscaping, buildings, geotechnical all on one layer. Being able to turn layers off & on well viewing various objects assigned to classes provides visualizations that ease the job of designing & providing alternatives that are much appreciated by clients & the public & especially other road designers using AutoCad.
  19. Hello Katie I have emailed you all workspaces installed by the Fundementals, LandMark, Renderworks DVD, they all contained the Bulb Flat plug-in as confirmed by viewing with TextEdit. For my information what is the Bulb Flat plug-in?
  20. Katie Just checked "Landmark Classic.vww" Workspace with TextEdit & it does require BULB - " "
  21. ionw Permissions are all read/write, but it appears that workspace files in VW2008 are different format than previous versions. "I know without a doubt you can save changes to a workspace that is trying to access plugins that are no longer there, and use it just fine", have you tried this with 2008?. Katie Yes I got the prompt, but when the workspace was reopened it wasn't saved.
  22. Katie You can save only if you haven't made any changes. What is "Bulb Flat" plug-in? & why can't I get a copy so I can get start using Vectorworks 2008.
  23. Katie I have tried all built-in workspaces (Classic, Landmark Classic, Landmark & Standard) using the original default file with the same result. The problem must lay with the installation DVD. The Bulb Flat plug-in has never been in any previous version of Landmark. Being using MiniCad/VectorWorks since 1990.
  24. Robert The problem is that the plug-in Bulb Flat is not in any of my workspaces or anywhere on my computer, therefore, I can not remove. I am getting error because it is not available. See above postings.
  25. Katie The Bulb Flat plug-in is not being installed by the installer & is not any where on my computer. When I open any of the existing VW2008 workspaces using the workspace editor & then hit OK, with or without making changes I get the error. All of the other structual shape plug-ins are there: angle, channel, I-beam, etc.
