  1. I have attached the file. It is pretty scrubbed clean due to confidentiality issues, but should still contain everything pertinent. Take a look at cell J16 in the "Special Build List" worksheet. I have tried different formulas, integers, everything I can think of and am getting nowhere. Thanks!
  2. Right, but the isssue is that the database header is not returning any info. Even if I put a single digit integer into the header cell, the subrows still show no data...
  3. The formula in the cell is referencing record format... ='special build custom outlet'.'height from floor" And I have tried typing the formula into the cell fresh as well as copying and pasting, as well as typing in a totally different formula. Its almost like the cells have been formatted to not accept formulas...
  4. I have no had this issue happen to me twice; I have a worksheet where a couple of cells in one column do not return any data regardless of what formula I input. I have even copied and pasted the formula from an adjacent cell, a cell that is correctly returning the desired data, but when I paste that formula into the broken cells, I just get a 0... has this happened to anyone else? Thanks!
  5. I have a symbol where certain instances have a specific block of text associated with it and in some instances it does not have any text associated with it. I am hoping there is a way to build that text into the symbol and then turn it on for the instances where the text is needed, and leave it off when the text is not. I know that I can do this using classes, but I am trying to find a way that does not require me to create yet another class in my already huge class list. Is there any way to make it something along them lines of a checkbox in the OIP? In AutoCAD you can make certain parts of a block turn on or off depending on the instance, and I am hoping there is something like that in VW. Thanks!
  6. I have a series of rectangles, all with a record format attached to them. One of the record fields is "Length". I am trying to set up a 3 column worksheet. Column A should simply say "Header" (I got that one down). Column B should display the total number of rectangles with that record format (36 in the case of the test file) Column C should display the total linear footage of the "Length" record fields. Is this possible? I tired playing around with the COUNT and SUM functions, but with no success. I have attached a sample file with the rectangles and the beginnings of a worksheet so you can see where I am and where I am trying to go. Thanks!
  7. I actually tired that on a whim and it returns the same results
  8. I have (currently) 293 objects in a class (PLAT - Walls - Custom). I am trying to set up my worksheet to give me a count of the total number of objects in that class. I tried using the formula COUNT(((C='PLAT - Walls -- Custom'))) but that doesn't seem to be working. Is there a different function I should be using instead of COUNT? Thanks!
  9. Yeah, I set that up, and then spent an hour trying to figure out what I was doing wrong before deciding that VW was just not going to do what I wanted!
  10. Pat, Thanks for the idea, a plug in is probably perfect for this application. Its a bummer VW doesn't have this functionality for more complex symbols (like title blocks)! Thanks!
  11. Unfortunately the data for each instance of the symbol will be TOTALLY different from every other instance of the symbol I have uploaded the symbol in question. For this project I have 1,500+ individual pieces of truss that all need to get on of these labels. Then, using the associated record I generate a bunch of different paperwork for my guys.
  12. I have a symbol with an attached record. When I insert an instance of said symbol I then have to go to the data tab in the OIP and enter the desired text for the record. Is there a way to set up the symbol so it prompts me to enter data into the record when I insert the symbol? Thanks!
  13. It would be really awesome if there was a way to force VW to add in zero's even if the dimension does not require it (i.e. 0'-x" or x'-0") without having to go in and manually edit each dimension and type in the zeros. I find that by including a full dimension (X'-Y") in my construction drawings, I am able to reduce carpenter error, so I almost always want to include the full dimension, which means I have to manually edit lots of my dimensions before plotting!
  14. Unshaded polygon worked! Seems counter intuitive since the unshaded polygon option produces a shaded polygon... but hey, cant win 'em all!
  15. I have a 3D object that has a grey fill (5% grey). My top and front, and left side views show the fill color correctly, but my right side view shows the fill color as MUCH darker. How do I get that one view to match the rest? Thanks!
  16. I need my dimensions to always display feet and inches, even if that number is a zero. (i.e 0'-X" or X'-0") Right now I do not get the zeros. I have looked in my custom dimension settings and in the units tab, but I cant find anything that would allow me to do that. Thanks!
  17. I have a very simple 3 rectangle symbol that represents 8'x12' fencing panels. I have a drawing where I want to have 3 different types of fence, pounded post, windscreen, and temporary. I have made a class for each type of fencing. The symbol for each type of fencing is geometrically identical, but I would like the symbol to change color based on the type so I can easily differentiate which fence lines are which type. Is there a way to make a specific instance of the symbol change color based on what class it is assigned to, or do I just need to make 3 different versions of the symbol with the color built in? Thanks!
  18. Is there a way to have viewports have a snappable center point? I want to be able to center the my viewports on certain points within a sheet layer. Thanks!
  19. I have several extruded rectangles that have a solid grey fill, however the fill does not appear in my design layer. If I apply the same fill to a 2D rectangle, it appears, but not in a 3D object. If I double click on one of the extrusions to edit it, the original 2D shape I extruded from shows the fill just fine, but it doesnt seem to apply to its 3D counterpart.
