3D collision detection, excellent, that would make BIM-life so much better, sometimes it is hard to keep on top of making sure what you design in 3D actually is not interfering with each other. Basically, say cubes don't intersect, for example 3D object relations tick box etc. I read your post, but I thought my post falls into a similiar catagory like your post. Cheers

Hi there, yes the need for speed, I think that would be awesome, in my opinion the single most important thing really for future VectorWorks editions. What about file size? I guess that too, I mean a small detailed 3D eg kitchen takes easly 60MB! If one day it will be only max 6mb, I believe editing & any handling would be faster. Cheers

Hi Tim, I did submit one issue to Maxon, eg when a light source in VW is made into a symbol, then in C4D the instance is not referenced to the light source, so you have to manually do that in C4D. Make sure you visit from time to time the Maxon download section, as soon as the latest patch is made they will publish it to download. Regards Andreas

hey, with the 3d power pack you can create a light beam volume, then create a transparent bright mirror texture and place a spotlight with same direction, i tried it, looks ok, the problem is that it is not easy to creat a glowing/illuminating texture, use the "loft tool" to create out of a duplicated light instrument (ungroup/ungroup) >nurbs to 3d locus point the volume of a light beam >>glowing/self illuminating textures should be a wish list item ... i will put it on next year anyone has some tips to create such textures ???

i had some blend edge difficulties with object created out of high resolution polylines, a good tip: before changing a polyline to a polygon, change under file>>vectorworks preferences 2d conversion resolution to low, medium etc. then advance your 2d base to 3d (eg extrude) after that preconfiguration, a complicated 3d object seems easier to blend edges like you want them to be blended

so true kevin, users seem to forget, the FREE 3D PowerPack ... that came with the VW9 upgrade VW9 was worth buying and VW10 has many outstanding features to make it another bargain at these low upgrade prices ... a must buy, for productive cad workers

I am a fan of the new "3d power tools" altough I wish more acuracy with the blend edges tool, since that tool is really great, but with rounded or more complex forms it seems that it rarely works, it is hard to explain, but I guess you guys know it, when making a complex polyline then extruding it, then the blend edge tool is is not working with it. will this stay like that in vw10 ? or vw11 is the sm lib the reason why it ain't working ?

hello, i guess it will soon work with 9.5.1 and the version 10.5.1i need to say vectorworks is the best cad program i know of, wtg vectorworksbut till the next releases i got cpu power to render - so here my question to you:i was wondering if you can suggest a dual processor enabled render software ?- what about maxon?- or lightwave7? thanks for tips regards

Did someone in the Tech Sector hear aboutnot being able to print from VectorWorks 9on the above mentionend printer ? Well the printer was printing from VW8 and is printing now out of MSFT Word without any problems. After creating a simple rectangle in a new document and printing it out , only white paperwith no print came out of the desk jet 1100c Any suggestions ?

hi forum, i would like to know a technical fact about os mac 8, i was a long time win user now learning about the mac os. so there is that guy that tried to install vw9 on a os mac 8 ! (it didn't work - as written on cd !) so after that he tried to run his older version of vw version 8.5 again and he could not open it anymore. so after installing vw8 again still no running vw program. my question: is it technically possible that a vw9 installation on a mac os 8 overwrites any mac system files and makes vw not run anymore ? I don't think so ! if that's true just don't answer this post here, thx and a happy new year all
