  1. Can an anyone help me on this? In my drawing I have a distributor object that has a circuit record attached. The ID of the distributor object is RP401-1. In the data manager in Vectorworks Data sets and fields for the distributor object I have added a data set for the circuit record. There are 2 fields in my Record, Panel ID and Circuit ID I would like an expression for each of these fields to take the distributor ID and divide the name. Panel ID would be RP401 and Circuit ID would be 1.  Thanks.

  2. Can the users please have the ability to choose marker direction on the leaders of data tags? Unless there is a work around that I am not aware of, Currently, you only have one direction Tag to Object. I would think it could be really useful to have a marker selection for either direction on a leader. Any thoughts?

  3. @Pat Stanford Sorry Pat... thanks for the quick response. My report criteria is set up for circuits in CC, Not the device it is connect to. I believe the function that I posted evaluates the circuit destination device and returns information from that device. I am looking for custom record information about that device that the circuit is connected to.

  4. I am needing to gather custom record information from a destination device of a circuit in a circuit report.  I am currently using .....=IFNA(OBJECTDATA('eval circuit destination device', 'Device', 'Power'), OBJECTDATA('eval circuit destination device', 'Device-External', 'Power'))  to bring back device info, but I would also like to bring back custom record info of those devices as well. Is there anyone out the that can help with this?

  5. Correct me if I'm wrong.... But it seems as if Update 2 broke Cable tools. When drawing cables in any mode other than Single connection mode the cables do not terminate. Every update I come back to see if it is a tool that I can use consistently, but no such luck yet.

  6. @klinzeyI see that when I import a distributor to a new blank document it imports a distro record as well. Is there a way or will there be a way to attach this record or custom records to these devices directly from the resource browser? I can attach records after they have been placed, but it would be very nice not to go thru the extra steps risking errors in missing something.

  7. I have single symbol that has 4 different records attached. All 4 records have a common field 'Slot ID'. I am trying to put together a worksheet database of all of the objects. The criteria for the database any of the 4 records present.  The column header is currently, ='Type Record'.'Slot ID'. I am looking for help to get all 4 records field 'Slot ID' to populate in 1 column. Is this possible? it feels like it should be but cannot seem to get my head wrapped around it. Any help would be appreciated.

  8. I am in the process of creating a library of Video Camera setups that our company uses and have run into what I feel is a bug.

I spent 30 min on the phone yesterday with Service Select Technical Support and was told that the Video Camera Tool is working as intended. I am reaching out to other users so that maybe someone can offer me some insight and knowledge as to why what I view as an issue is considered “working as intended”.

    Process:

    -Create new blank document

-Select Video Camera Tool from Tool Sets

-Select a Lens, Select a body and Select a Stand from the Tool Bar

-Click once in the Drawing Area and Click a second time to set the plugin object

-In the OIP make changes to settings if necessary

-With the plugin object selected, In the Menu Bar select Modify Create Symbol.

-A Dialog window opens, Give the symbol a name and select convert to plug-in object and click ok

    -A red symbol is created.

-Double Click to acquire the red symbol in the resource manager

-Click once in the drawing space and Click a second time to set the symbol and all is good.

-in the Menu Bar Click File, Click Save into any one of the multitude of library folders that Vectorworks has given us(Vectorworks Libraries, User Libraries, Workgroup Libraries)  and Close the file.

-Click on the Action Button in the resource browser and Click Refresh Libraries or restart Vectorworks

I now have a red symbol in my Library with all of my settings. Now I can now save time in all of my future drawings by NOT having to follow that process of setting up a camera again. One would think!

    Next Process:

    -Create new blank document

-Find my newly created red symbol in the resource browser

-Double click on it to acquire the symbol

-Click once in the drawing space and Click a second time to set the symbol and all is NOT good.

The OIP is completely loaded with all of the correct information but the graphical representation of the object is completely gone and replaced with a rectangle that has 2D and 3D geometry.

In order to fix this issue, you have to reselect your lens, body and stand.

I have tried different forms of insertion such as copy and paste and importing the red symbol into the document first before placing it. All with the same result.

I guess I am frustrated more on the fact that a Service Select representative told me yesterday that the tool is working as intended and the process that I should follow is to import the symbol elements of the plugin symbol and the record formats that go with my red symbol first before inserting my symbol. I feel this defeats the purpose of having a Plugin Symbol.

Also, one other item I noticed is that while I am working in an imperial document all the OIP information is in metric. I thought that Vectorworks automatically did all of the conversions.

If I am out of line here and having a knee jerk reaction to this, or this has already been discussed on the forum somewhere, can someone please let me know, It would be greatly appreciated.

  9. I am currently building a entirely new workgroups folder for our users. Would it be beneficial to have my default template contain all possible record formats that we use and then reference those to a single Record format master file in the defaults folder? Or.. did I have one to many beers today?

  10. I just came across something that I have never really had to deal with before. My hunch is that it is file related but not sure.

When using the Speaker array tool or @C. Andrew Dunning 's Audio Array 2 tool and I import data from the "Bumpers L-Acoustics.vwx" file in the Vectorworks Library It does not convert the units correctly. The "Bumpers L-Acoustics.vwx" file units are Metric and the file I am working in is Imperial. The "Speakers L-Acoustics.vwx" is also in Metric and all of their data converts correctly with no issues. Can someone tell me if this is tool related or if the the "Bumpers L-Acoustics.vwx" file is not configured properly?

This is all being done in VW2019 on a new 2018 MacBook Pro.

Edit: For example when importing the data the 554mm bumper width, it comes into the new document at 554'.
