  1. All my work is done in VW, the images shown are RAW renders, no PS retouching. The water Bottles label is a NURBS surface wrapped around the main bottle with the texture mapped as Perimeter. Tried using decal but was too much work to get the positioning right and it messed with the main bottle texture. The label Texture itself is an image and transparency mask as JimW suggested. Actually relatively straight forward to do. The coffee boxes were a little more complicated as the internal and external textures are different and to achieve a more realistic look and I curved the box faces, but again once the main construction of the boxes is complete texturing was pretty simple. just don't zoom in too much or you'll notice all the imperfections... haha
  2. Some Packaging design mock-ups
  3. Pop-up Bakery Kiosk Modelled and Rendered in VW, no post-production
  4. Some store designs in Beijing
  5. Glad that its working for you now. not sure if wireframe is the issue tho, my dims display regardless of render mode, see attached.
  6. No sure if I am understanding your need correctly but... There is no way to control the dashed colour and hidden line colour independently in one viewport render. (Could be a nice feature tho) If that is what you are needing to do you will have to create duplicate objects using classes to control the line colour. Then create two overlaping/stacked Viewports using a combination of; Background "render style (if desired)", Foreground : Hidden Line / Dashed Hidden Line I have attached a basic example image. Hope this helps
  7. Hi, Can't seem to replicate your issue, 3D dimensions appear fine in viewports for me. Can you upload the VWX file?
  8. Hi Alan, Seems this is a bug for Artistic RW, Showing shadows of objects removed seems to only work with Realistic RW or OpenGL. Only work around would be to use a camera but can only use perspective views which obviously would not give you what you are trying to create.
  9. Think this is a really great idea and extremely powerful for workflow. I have tried to do something similar for our companies retail design projects but have had limited time to dedicate to the project. We want to use this kind of tool to promote our preferred supplier products as we have negotiated deals with them that provide us a sales percentage as a finder's fee. I agree with Tom tho, depending on cost the demand from users could be limited. It might be worth speak directly to manufactures/suppliers to ask for funding to develop the libraries as a sales tool for them as it becomes essentially "free advertising" and then ask users to to simply buy object libraries. I don't know, just my two cents on it...
  10. Do you mean like a numbered list? i.e. 1. ______ 2. ______ 3. ______ The "General Notes" tool in the "Dims/Notes" tool pane does this very easily. Also if you are using "callouts" these can be set to "Place As Keynote" which creates a numbered notes list linked to the callouts.
  11. Hi Jim, Thanks for the double check .. you are right I was using a document created before the SP3 release. SP3 seems to have fixed it.
  12. To my knowledge there isn't a tool for doing exactly what you are looking for however creating a symbol with a record linked to the text would give you an easy solution that is scaleable. Attached is an example.
  13. I am having the same issue with field of view changing on cameras on exit. I am not using template files so I think this needs further investigation.
  14. Hi Marissa, Thank you for sharing this, perfect tool for finding the 2D center of mass. Not exactly what I was trying to do but fortunately for my current project it will do the job.
  15. I have been searching high and low for this but have lucked out so far. I have created a polygon using marionette with a number of variables to control the shape, what I would like to be able to do is "analyse" the resulting polygon and find it's center point. I realise that this could be a potentially complicated request as depending on the shape of the polygon the center point may not be "on surface" for example a "C" shaped object. There is also the question of center of planar mass (ie balancing point) or simply center point furthest away from all edges. For my particular use I am only interested in the "on surface" furthest away from all edges, and I am working with a pretty basic shape. In my mind it seems quite straight forward, I could definitely find a way to "calculate it mathematically" however it would only work for my specific object so I am sure there is a much better and more versatile solution out there. Any help would be massively appreciated.
  16. Hi Everyone, has there been any progression on this bug? Glad someone was able to figure out the root of the issue. Its frustrating, either accept you can't order the OPI inputs or forever change default values.
  17. There is a very simple work around for the problem of rectangular images for transparency maps. Use an image of the same size in the "Colour". I used the original PNG "Basher" provided and created the attached render.
  18. Yes and No ... It can be done although not very elegantly using Referenced Files. I say not elegantly because as far as I have been able to achieve, you must reference a layer (or multiple layers) containing all the resources (symbols, textures etc.) that you want to use dynamically which essentially bloats your files with resources you might not be using. It will however allow you to update the master file and the changes will effect any files (on opening) using the referenced resources. A warning however, as with any "referenced" files, if you move, delete, rename, the VW file or the objects contained the links will be broken and will require relinking. I do use this method but what I do rather than having a single master document for all projects, I have a secondary file at project level where I copy the resources required specifically for the project I am working on and have that filed in the project resource file so if I need to move the project around on the server everything stays together, it also means the referenced resource file isn't so large. I am sure someone has another solution for this but this works for me...
  19. Easiest way is to measure the distance and use the "Move" tool under modify menu.
  20. @Nik I use Dummy Ends for this purpose, they make your network "fat" but at least get included in the wrapper
  21. Thank you VW team, great video! Question, is it just me or is the video aspect ratio off? (example; @ timestamp 12.33 the 4" circle appears as an oval) Not a major issue but it may be confusing for some...
  22. Thanks Jim, Great news! Thank you for the continued support.
  23. This has driven me crazy for almost a decade. I regularly receive DWG files with Chinese and Russian file names, VW flatly refuses to recognise these as DWG files until they are given a romanised name.
  24. Thank you Marissa, these nodes work perfectly for my application.
