  1. You can use color as a negative prompt.
  2. I think these last few images look great! When I try the prompt, I get wildly different results I. E. Not nearly as nice. Is oil ink architecture sketch the actual prompt or is that paraphrasing? Any negative prompts? Is your model textured (mine was not)? And what was your Creativity slider at? (Not in front of VW right now, forgive me if I got the name of that slider wrong). Is it possible to show us your original image. Thanks - I'm keen to get close to this look. Great work.
  3. Hi all. Playing with this today - question: I am just in 3d on a design layer (i.e. not a viewport) I launch AI and played with it a bit. Great. Now I go back to the design layer and move to a different part of the model, but when I relaunch AI - I'm stuck in the first view - how to get this "original image" state to update to my current view? Thanks, e. EDIT: Nevermind - I just found the refresh button on the left panel. Carry on!
  4. Thank you for adding the Transform gizmo to Update 04. This is an exciting step forward for working inside of Vectorworks and I look forward to diving into it deeper. Seems great in the firsts tests I've done with it - admittedly, I haven't tried it in a complicated and well populated model yet. I already have some wish list items for it 🙂 Once I reposition the Gizmo, it would be great if it remembered that position. Currently, it resets to center once you drop the object. Especially annoying if you have to jump to flyover in the middle of relocating an object. Similarly, if I duplicate an object with a repositioned Gizmo, I'd like the new object to retain the repositioned gizmo as well. Currently, the new object gizmo is reset to center. For rotation, I see there are three handles per axis and the small ones let me shift snap into 90 degree rotation, but holding shift on the center handle gives me strange angles and I would prefer if it would lock into the usual rotation standards that we have set for other rotations tools when holding shift e.g. 15 degree, 30 degree, 45 degree, 60 degree, etc. I can grab the central ball and snap it to corner points of 3d objects, I would like to be able to slide the Gizmo with the arrows, and still have the ball snap to logical points. Currently it only snaps when you grab the central ball. Looking forward to trying this tool mode in my regular practice - thanks again - it's a great first implementation. e.
  5. The cube is not an object that can be exported. It is merely a tool for working inside of design layers and gives you the ability to cut section viewports as well. If you need to export a model with the interior exposed, you will have to cut/alter/modify the model to reflect this.
  6. I have a Samsung 49" curved. I love it. I used 2 27" monitors in V formation for years and years. I feel like I have the same real estate now, but without a bezel right in the sweet spot. I always had my head tilted and neck issues, now I look straight ahead more. The curvature hasn't affect me drafting or 3d modeling one bit.
  7. Ha, I don't remember as this was a few years ago. The gray border just indicates that it is a sheet layer and defines the space and non print bleed zone. I think I just picked a random HP plotter that was wide enough to output my desired size and installed it's driver. Sorry I can't help more. e.
  8. I do seating layouts on almost every project and I have found doing it by hand (duplicate array, move by points, distribute along path, rotate tool in duplicate mode, mirror tool) to be much faster than wrestling with that awful seating tool, even for curved seating. Edit: curious to try the Theater Row plug in on my next project.
  9. Can't you just make a piece of text and convert it into a symbol? Than it would update globally.
  10. If it has to be specific to this chair or that chair, I try to buy it first. If I can't find it I try to model it. If I can't model it, I hire someone who can: but this would be part of the brief, so I would know that/research it/cost it before giving them a proposal. Would there be a market for custom chairs in VW to sell? I think that market would be relatively small.
  11. I should also mention I usually get something that feels right for renderings and then the actual pieces get specd out later, but depends on client.
  12. For Vectorworks, yes problematic. For other 3d software DCCs, not so much. Not so sure how current those models will be though. Go to Turbisquid and search for IKEA.
  13. I would let go of the idea of wrapping and just draw polygons on the downstage face to match your frame silhouette and extrude them 1/16" as Jeff has suggested.
  14. Actually, what you want for this is circular array and you can set the angle to give you what you want. It's under duplicate array from the top menu and set it to circular mode. I'm not at a Computer,so wording is slightly off but you can set distribution to 360/ number of fixtures and check rotate objects to match angle.
  15. Yes - Paul is right - the Clip Cube is what you want here. It's like a live sectioning tool and you can use it in Orthographic views or perspective views. You'll find it under the VIEW menu to turn it on and a box will appear around your whole model. Click on the box to activate the clip cube and then mouse over the plane/side of the box you want to move. As you drag this, it will create a live section for you with your cut surfaces showing in Red. Pro tip - suspending snapping while dragging the clip cube side makes things much easier. Try that out. You can also move more then one plane, so you can cut from the side and also then move the top. You can even rotate the clip cube using the control diamonds at its center. And finally, if you right click on a active clip cube face and choose CREATE SECTION VIEWPORT you can make a Section and send it to a sheet layer. More info here: General Clip Cube usage: Rotate the clip Cube:
  16. I can't replicate that behavior with the partial selection, so not sure what is going on there - though it is orange and not yellow, so it looks like maybe its selection previewing? Usually, you have to have the whole object selected to grab it. If you hold ALT while drawing your marquee, anything that the marquee partially touches becomes selected too. L to R or R to L is meaningless in VW.
  17. I know nothing about this other then it keeps showing up in my Instagram feed. Looks basic, but maybe of interest? https://hozodesign.com/products/meazor3d
  18. I'd love if bike rack and crash barricades could work like the stanchion tool does. Great list overall Andrew!
  19. Hi, For taper to work only on the catwalks from the stage and not on the downstage left to right connector, you will need to break your thrust apart into three piece: the left catwalk, the right catwalk and the downstage connector. The level downstage connector part is just a simple extrude. The catwalks are extruded to the highest height (to match the mainstage) and then taper down to the front thrust connector height. Since it is symmetrical, you can just build one catwalk and mirror it over centerline for the other side. You can keep the thrust as three objects, group them together if you like, or select all parts and run the Add solids command to fuse them together. I usually break my geometry at any height change, ramp, or slope change, much like the staging company will. Will the lowest and highest rectangles be the beginning and end of the ramp with the distance I want in the middle? Yes, that is correct. You draw each endcap and run multiple extrude and the extrude height in this case is the length of the catwalk. For the second ramp you want (the double green lines) - You could extrude the rectangle to its full height and again use taper face to slope it, or, even easier, just go into a side view and draw the triangle of its profile and extrude that to the width of your ramp. Hope that helps some. Takes a bit to get used to it, but you're doing great. Keep going!
  20. +1 I don't always want to sort by object or attribute type. Sometimes I want to organize by department, or designer, or revision number, or..... I want more control and the ability to mix and match object types within a folder.
  21. You can also use Groups to temporarily isolate an object or collection of objects so you can work on them "soloed". Once you are done, exit the group and ungroup and you are back to normal. There is an option in your Quick Preference settings to "Show other objects while in Edit mode" - this lets you toggle between ghosting in other objects or not seeing them at all while inside a group, symbol, or any other editing envelope. Can be handy.
  22. @Payne Chang Haha - I feel so dumb. Yes, thank you Payne - that totally resolves it. Never occurred to me that it would behave that way, but you are correct. Thank you!
