Any news about roof components?

Is this a new feature? I can create 3d lines (grid) in VW2013 that I can snap to.
Am I missing something here?

Hmm, from what I see most new features are about 3d modeling. But what about the basics ie. 2d, no roof components, no 3d hatches, no complex wall profiles...
As far as I can see (no VSS member anymore) we will not be upgrading...

I agree with Dieter here. I don't see any improvements in modeling (roof components!!). The X-ray is not useful because you get a messy wireframe view. Twisting NURBS? This is not Cinema4D. It should be a BIM modeler....

My short term radar has a blip where VW2014 lies. The long term scan is starting to point to alternatives.
I fear if NVW doesn't hit a home run this time, the trail of rats leaving the ship will be significant.

They could've started a new website like Artlantis did for it's latest release. They had a site with a clock counting down and about once a week a short movie with a new feature. NNA could build up a hype. Look at Apple and the rumor sites...

Yes, you basically draw a section of the wall. So this can include the constructive wall, insulation, airspace, bricks or sidings etc. You can even model all the foils(?) wall tops etc.

In ArchiCAD there is no slowdown as far as I can tell. Depends on how large the project is and the complexity of the walls. If you also model/draw all the foils etc. then it could slow down a bit I guess. But sofar I don't see any slowdowns...

They could have a look at the profile walls in ArchiCAD. In AC you can draw a section of the wall you want and use that for your 3d walls. It gets extruded so to say without losing it's function (automatically create holes when inserting windows and doors, etc.). Also when you create a section you get the 2d section just like you drew.

And by now, since the release is so close they could at least give some teasers and give us some hope that everything will be alright :-) Most new features surely are ready by now?

And say 64 bit is the biggest feature this year, do we have to wait another year for basic functions and tools like roof components, a better stair, door, window tool, etc.
As stated above, I hope they will concentrate more on modeling rather than collaboration...

I think the drawing was originally an dog with blocks that has been imported?
We sometimes have the same with constructiondrawings we get where every column is a symbol...

Yes, the negative tone seems to take over here. I wonder what this forum looks like in about a month or so... Will it be completely silent (due to the lack of improvements to VW2014 and everyone has given up) or will it be vibrant with positive comments about how NAG finally has listened to their users and released their best/stable VW ever!
Time will tell...

Yes, same here. Either it's a hugely improved VW2014 or ArchiCAD... We'll see in about a month from now. Maybe it would be a good idea if Nemetschek starts posting teasers to keep us interested and maybe build up a hype for 2014?

Ha, I just submitted a bug regarding filleting walls when you are in a rotated view...
Also gives bugs when filleting non 90degree walls.... Works if you select from right to left but the other way around it fails.

Yeah that dang accuracy thing always gets in my way too...
Well you can let us choose to enter a number in the floating dialog box or to just manually resize it.
This wouldn't be different then how you can use all the drawing tools right now. Ie. I can choose to draw a rectangle with accuracy or just by eye...

This looks like a VNC client or something similar. I use this at home to control my Mac (that's in desk on the second floor) from my iPad in the livingroom. Works great. But I think you should have something native. It's hard to precisely control your computer from a tablet or phone. I wonder how hard it would be to load your drawing (be it pdf) that knows the coordinates of your drawing. So if you add a redline it knows exactly where you draw your line. If this can be done in a pdf the drawing downloaded to your tablet or phone would not be that big. An actual VW BIM file located on your tablet is also an option but fills in more space and will probably need lots of processing power.
Since we're not a VSS member anymore I don't know the latest in development of Nomad, but in this state it's not a selling point....

Both door and window schedules are "two way" such that you can alter the geometry in your model from the schedules
Yes, but we want it to be interactive in plan or 3d!!

And point clouds are a new feature as well in AC19.
Multiple processor use in 2d drawings (sections, elevations, etc are automatically redrawn in the background), so why not with viewports in VW? No more waiting for outdated viewports to render...
