  1. I want to create an animation that starts with the ground plan and then drops into the room and rotates toward a presnter at a lectrun. I almost have it but I need to be able to see the ceiling from the "inside" of the room but I need to see thru the celing when I'm looking at the ground plan of the room. Is there a way to get the ceiling to be tranparent from the top but opaque once I'm under it??? does this make sense? or how can I swith off the ceiling in one sheet and turn in back on in another?
  2. OK so I got most of my bugs worked out when rending a walk thru... so I have a couple of questions.... I start with a ground plan view, normal perspective. I then raise the Ground plane and rotate the view and save the sheet. I then again raise the Ground plane rotate the view some more and then again same the new sheet, I again raise the Ground Plane so that my point of view is 48" and rotate to look toward the object I want to come to rest on..... so far so good. I then create the animation as usual and link the sheets together to create the movie...BUT...between the first two view it does not flow... it jumps.... Does anybody know how to fix this??
  3. Hello All!!! For those of you who have had/have annimation problems... it seems that the crashes had to do with memory not dumping completely after each frame therfore you end up with a run time error. WELL... it seems that XP helps solve this problem because it increases the size of the virtual memory file by it's self and therefore I've had a couple of 600 and 900 frame annimations that work!!! So I gues if you have the ability to increase the virtual memory of your system you too can get VW/RW to work sort of right.
  4. PLEASE ANY IDEAS!! Help!!! what am I doing wrong (STILL) ...I place a "spot" light on the plan at 17' on the ZS axis.... I then place a 3D loci at 10 feet on the z axis in front of the surface I want to light... then I take the 3d selection tool and place it on the tip of the light and with the mouse clicked I drag the line to the 3D loci point just as described in the textbook and the demo CD(smart points shows me that it is reading the 3d loci point) I then render what I have and the light is pointing to the ground directly below where I want it... so I go into "side view" to see if I can get the light to focus on the 3d loci point... I click on the ligfht and drag the line to the loci point... then go back to plan view and the light is pointing away for the loci point...so I try to do the same thing from a "front" point of view... I click on the light and drag it to the 3d loci point.... then go back to plan view and the light is pointing completly backwards.....I've tried everything I can think of to get the "focusing" of a light correct... the only way I can get it to work is to us the 2D rotation tool and work at it from a plan and a side view.....Any suggestions??? I've tried using the isometric drawing to work on a couple of the lights but it doesn't wqork all the time.... any other hints?!?!?!
  5. Katie... If I knew how to post these issues to an engenering BB I'd be happy to. Unfortunatly you are the only target that we out here in the real world have. If you'd give me the email address or the phone number of somebody else I'd love it.
  6. Good Idea about the isometric view to help place and focus the light... but does anybody know WHY the light seems to snap to the wrong point and sometimes in the complete opossite direction... I know that the Smart point is saying that it has found the correct 3D Loci point but it just doesn't do it. Any ideas anyone?!?!?
  7. Katie, I appreciate the help... I feel kinda ripped off ...I'm surprised that the animation capabilites of this program are not tested enough to know that there is a problem before release. I cannot imagine anything other than a software company to allow a product to be touted for it's capabilites and then fall so far short of the promises... at least a company that wants to stay in business. Again.... thanks
  8. Does anybody Know of a program I can buy that would allow me to create what I need in VW and then transfer it to a better rendering engine.... I'm trying for months now to get an annimation to work but it keeps frezing and VW tech folks are of no help as of yet(it seems I can just wait until the next release, one of the resons I bought VW was the annimation capabilites) Now my boss and I are trying to figure out what else we can do to solve this problem

aren't you suprizes when you get NO response fromn the tech folks

  11. HELLO TECH FOLKS..... has anybody solved this problem yet!!!??? it seems that we are left swinging in the wind.... I have not heard anything from the tech folks for a couple of weeks.... can somebody reassure me that this problem is being investigated!!!
  12. WHEW! This works great!!!!YOU'RE A GODDESS!!! THANK YOU!!! If I convert the seating block to a symbol, will it help??
  13. OK... so what's up with this issue.... I use the seating layout tool. It works OK. I have 8 different seating sections. As I try to click from one section of seating to the other so I can get the O.I. of the seating section VW 10.1 Freezes... IT LITERALLY CAN TAKE UP TO THREE MINUTES TO CLICK FROM ONE SECTION TO THE OTHER. It takes me 30 Minutes to do a couple of simple changes to the layout because of the time it takes just to switch sections....HELP!!! What can I do to speed this process up? This is a cool tool but I can Duplicate an array faster than this tool works.
  14. I finally just stopped the process... I render as much as it gives me then do it again from the failure point... then I go in and edit the two, three,or four short annmations together... it sure is a pain. Does anybody from VW know anything else about the problem?? We haven't heard a word from you guys in a couple of weeks...are you guys still trying to solve this??
  15. YES... how do you do this.... it would be very help full
  16. I agree about using a GIF or Tif format and a 2" x 2" image
  17. I believe that you could set the working plane to match the roof angle and then just measure the peremiter
  18. Kevin.... Any response to this ....
  19. Dave... I just reviewed my file I sent you... I think you should note that most of the lights are turned off and therefore should not affect the outcome of the rendering since they donot contibute to the geometry of the rendering. I hope that extra objects in the file do not make my file crash ... it would be a lot of work to have to rework the drawing more than I did for this just to make it work...
  20. Thanks Dave... I have plenty of time so I haven't worried about the speed of the rendering.. I realize to simplfy thing I should take out everyting that is not visable in the annimation but all of the information is/ was needed in an original file... and I need the shadows, afterall, lighting is as much about shadows as it is light. Thanks for the help... I hope it works.. I too will be re-rendering the annimation this weekend... I'll let you know haw it goes.
  21. Thanks for the help,... I hope your gurus can figure it out. I'm sure it will be something silly on my part. But the Boss is beginning to lose patience with the "new" software.
  22. OK... I had t go out of town for a week and am just getting back to trying to solve my annimation problem. I have a 20 second walk thru tht always seems to crash around the same frame... 200 or so. This is not really a complicated drawing so I'm surprized that it's not working. I have no "image transperancies", and that is supposed to be the reason it's not rendering. I've stepped thru the annimation and have rendered a large sample of frames and those have no problem.... the last crash notice I had was "error in mfc4zdll" if that helps at all. I've checked this board in the past and have tried all the "fixes". PLEASE HELP. Is it possible for you guys to send out a list of things that are wrong with VW10 so I don't have to keep struggling for weeks just to find out that this problem was something you guys knew about.
  23. Kevin... did you ever get any help the last time you posted your problem here... I think you and I had the same issue a couple of days ago....
  24. Thanks... can you help out with my annimation problem???
