  1. Attached is an example from Apple Maps of the rotation action I'm explaining above. applemaps.mov
  2. I'd like to know if it's possible (and if not, add to Wishlist) to dynamically rotate text to align with the current view. For example: If working in Rotated Top/Plan view, I'd like certain text labels to automatically rotate to 0° based on the current view. In practice, I'm working on plans that are geographically referenced, and while working and presenting, it makes sense to rotate it away from north being at the top, because the site layout is "gridded" at a different angle. It means that all my text labels are constantly having to be adjusted as I move though different angles of Rotated Top/Plan view. It would also be useful to have the same feature within viewports for the same reason. Perhaps an option in the object info pallet to choose the rotation either being world based or screen based? Also, perhaps this extends beyond just simple text labels and applies to data tags & symbols too?
  3. For anyone that finds themselves here looking for this setting in VW2022 it has been moved to the bottom right of the VW window. Click and hold the grid button circled in red below for same settings as described earlier.
  4. It's usually ok after restarting, for 2 or 3 times then reverts back to the odd looking ones. It's really frustrating when working with lighting fixtures, because I have to re render every few changes to see what they accurately look like.
  5. Hi, I'm trying to render some scenes in spotlight and each time I try to render them in anything other than openGL, they just come out blocky and weird. Occasionally they're fine and take a few minute to render as normal, but most of the time without making any significant changes and updating the viewport, they take 2 seconds to render and end up looking like this screenshot. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm using VW2018, SP2 on an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017), 4.2GHz i7, 40GB RAM.
  6. We've had the same problem in our office this morning. It's very frustrating. We tried a few different methods to dry and resolve it, listed below, but the only solution we could find was to to do as @JMRsuggested and "Save A Copy As..." a standard .vwx file and re-build the project sharing files from scratch. Particularly frustrating if not all users have committed all their unsaved changes before this issue arrises. Options we've tried that don't work: Delete the working file and try re-creating it by opening the project file Deleting the user from the project sharing dialog and get them to start their own files again Opening the working file and clicking revert int he project sharing menu Saving the working file locally Resetting document preferences in the project sharing dialog box It feels like there should be something like a "reset/release all current activity and check out all objects" option to repair whatever is becoming corrupt in the project file.
  7. I have used data visualisation the past, but is there a way to do this on the design layer? It would be easier/quicker to identify that symbol by an assigned colour, directly on the design layer, rather than having to select each instance and review it's record format value to find the desired symbol, or going to the viewport to see the assigned colours each time.
  8. Is it possible to change the colour of an object within a symbol depending on the value of an attached record format value. Example: If "Single phase" is selected in the attached record format data, part of the symbol will be highlighted blue, but it it is changed to "three phase" it the assigned object in the symbol is changed to red.... Similar to "link text to record"... but not with text.
  9. Is it possible to use conditional formatting on worksheets? Example 1: If a cell in a line meets a certain criteria I want the line to be highlighted blue Example 2: If a Boolean value is true, I want the text to be bold Example 3: If a record format number value exceeds a specific set amount, it is highlighted in red
  10. Yeah, my fix was to have a copy of all the 2D objects onto the design layer then go into the symbol and align the 2D and 3D data, one at a time to the objects on the design layer... seems clunky though?... would be much easier to just see both hybrid objects at the same time!
  11. I know this post is old, but I'm wondering if this was ever a feature that was added to the wish list? The link in the previous post no longer works. I'm having to import a load of mapping data and DWGs and this would help me tidy up the large amounts of classes rather than going though them individually?
  12. Yeah, Hybrid 2D/3D symbols are very frustrating to match up & align... unless I'm missing something blindingly obvious...
  13. I can live with the purple or the outdated icons or the arrows inconsistency, but it would be great to see the option to be able to change the interface to a dark "skin". When switching between Vectorworks (which I spend the majority of my time in) and Adobe packages (which I use occasionally), I find it much easier and less of a strain to work in the dark interface. I feel like the focus is on the design rather than the whole screen. Personally, I think it looks more professional and up to date. Although, I realise this isn't for everyone, so would be nice to see it as an option (maybe similar to the "Enable Black Background" button)
  14. +1 also. Would really like to see this. As an option, of course, so those who prefer the lighter workspace can continue as they are.
  15. I second this. I'm not a huge fan of having the resource browser arranged as J. Wallace describes (or the default) because the time it takes to open and close is a split second too long for my personal preference and it's nice to have it on view for quick reference, especially when working on a higher resolution or second display where the workspace is not at so much of a premium. The ideal layout for me would be as Laura describes.
