  1. Ooops we did not try that. But we have made a new projectfile from a workingfile now, so problem solved....

Hi Chris, I have a Wacom, Intuos 4, PTK-640. Have used it from VW2010-2016. Use it for everything, never use a mouse. Great with the "circle" for zooming. But i guess now there are newer fancier models. Ida
  3. Hi, Here is what we figured out with our vectorworks distributor. You can not break a reference to a wall style and get it in the projectfile through your workingfile. You have to create a normal vectorworksfile from your workingfile and break the references and get everythig into the file. Then make a new projectfile and replace the old one. So remember this when going from .vwx to .vxp (projectsharing) Ida
  4. Hi, Is it impossible to have live, NOT referenced wall styles in our projectfile/workingfile? It is a pain and a big source for mistakes when you have to say ok to a lot of wall and slab style changes everytime you do save and commit. This comes up even if you have not done any changes to the styles. Have tried to break the references and then they are live in the file, but when you reopen the file they are agian in italic (referenced) We have deleted the original reference file after we changed from 2015 to 2016. We thought that it would be a good idea to have everything in the projectfile, but i guess not. I guess it does not work because you cant "check out" a wall style. Does anyone have a good solution to this? Ida
  5. Hi, Now in 2016 and the stair still does not cut correctly.... Ida
  6. Hi, Have the same issue on my tool sets i have Yosemite and VW 2116 SP2. Its only on the tool set. Have a wacom tablet. Ida

  8. Hi Jim, A similar issue has happened again. Not the project file disappearing but the working file crashing. I had a working file where I had added several new sheets for layout. (I did a stupid thing with copying and changing a linked hatch, did not realise it was a link.) Then when I commited the file crashed and I lost what I had done, (I guess because of the issue with the hatch). I had a backup, but the problem with the backup file is that if I give it the same name as the old working file, xxxx_ida.vwxw and try to save and commit, it does not allow me. I get the picture attached. If its not possible to do this the backup, it becomes useless, because you cant use it. And because the change is 10 sheets or so i cant copy. If it had been changes done to layers copy paste would work. Is there a better way to do this or a way to override. Ida
  9. Hi Georg, We just moved our project on to 2016 and classes still follow into solibri as Layers. Now it does not help you but, in our case it worked. We had also filled in some fire- and acoustic-rating (Pset_DoorCommon) and that follows as normal into Solibri from 2016. We have VW 2016 OS and SP2 Ida
  10. Hi, We have started using project sharing on one project in the office. But have had some problems. Two times the main file vwxp have disappeared. And it would seem to be an issue if two vwxw files are saved at the same time. We could retrieve a backup but its a hassle to relink everything. Any new layers and sheets that was made in the workingfile after the backup was made can not be sent back to the retrieved projectfile.... Is this a bug? Anybody with the same issue? Ida
  11. Jeffrey, It could be an addition to app.help. It would also be good to have a booklet type like you a´have done for "Best practice for workgroup BIM using Vectorworks", but then I guess there must be different themes since BIM grasps a lot. For me as an architect using BIM figuring out where to put the info in Vectorworks so it exports correctly has been the most difficult thing. There are a lot of questions that I had to raise on the forum, with the local Vectorworks distributor or just had to figure it out my self. Issues: What exports form the OIP or settings on doors, slabs, windows, what IFC entity p_sets must be filled out (figured out with trial and error), how to export grid lines (something I would never have figured out if it was not for the forum, this has to be explained in a Help!), how to do worksheets with IFC entity p_sets (figured out with trial and error...) And again is it possible to get a work in progress paper? Or should I ask my local distributer? For our office to continue the Vectorworks it is very important that the IFC part of Vectorworks is developed. Ida
  12. Hi, Is there a solution to this now? Looking to make a folding sliding door, that also can export to IFC.... Ida
  13. Jeffrey, Is it possible to get a work in progress version of this "IFC Guide for Vectorworks Users"? Rob Have you got to any solutions on the door issue? I am now trying to figure out if its possible to get the fire rating of the IFC menu into the VW door object as text on the drawing. Was thinking that it must be possible since you can get it into a worksheet. Could you do a record format that is linked to the IFC entity p_set? And put that info on the door in the drawing as a symbol? Ida Ps still on 2015 on this project, but moving it over to 2016 soon.
  14. Any news in 2016 on this???!!!
  15. Hi, According to my Norwegian vectorworks support guy it's a bug, but works in 2016. But we are not moving the project over to 2016 before we have to send out the sections. It helped a bit to change some of the settings like Rob suggested, but it still does not cut correctly. Just have to fake it in annotations.... Its a concrete stair. Ida
  16. I cant seem to cut the stair correct in a section viewport. The middle landing gets a fill, but not the stair. Is there some settings i am missing?
  17. Hi, I may have encountered a similar issue. I had walls that was bound to layers (also working with stories). They keept changing to strange numbers (a bug I guess). But it was fixed by changing the wall height to a random number and then back to the value that it was suppose to be. This fixed my wall problem. Hope it helps. Ida
  18. This is what i want! http://blog.graphisoftus.com/events/contests/bimcomponents-com-manubim
  19. Cberg, According to the US. vectorworks people we had visiting our office. They want new users, people working up to IFC to use the slab tool and attach IFCcovering data. The ceiling grid tool is an older tool they haven't developed further. But it would actually be great to use for us esecially for ceilingplans in 2d that we also have to do. And it would be even better if the grid actually exported to IFC! Ida
  20. Hi Rob, I do agree it should be much simpler to connect the" ifc info" and the "vectorworks info". It should be the same thing..... Did you by the way see my other post about ifc ceiling grids? Since you're modeling seems to be quite advanced and similar to mine. I would think you would have the same issue. My local vectorworks guy is on the case and have done a trial, but it does not export correctly in ifc.... He has taken the issue further to VW. Ida
  21. Hi, Was wondering if anybody have solved the issue of ceiling grid to IFC? At the moment we have modeled the ceiling as an IFC covering/(ceiling) with the slab tool. That basically is just a slab in IFC. Last time I used the ceiling grid tool that also has IFC data it did not export the grid. And you cannot set the thickness on the ceiling grid in VW. The grid is extremely important to placing installations from ventilation and electrical engineers, and making it look good. Checking that everything works in IFC. The engineers are modeling in Revit by the way. Know that this feature is available in Archicad and Revit, something for VW2016? Ida
  22. Hi Rob, This is the issue that I explained on top. I see you have put a lot of effort on typeing info on the doors in the door settings menu. I did a trial with that and realized no info added here is following the IFC model. We are going to only type in the info in the IFC data using the Pset_DoorCommon. Here you can fill in fire rating, acoustic rating, and handicap accessibility. Here also the "Type"in the ifc file can be set under "Reference". The "Name" in the IFC file is actually set under settings or the object info pallet under ID tag "ID Prefix, "ID Label", "ID Suffix". And setting up the door schedules like I explained above. Whit the limitation that you cant edit directly in the woork sheet. Jeffrey this need to be sortet in VW2016! Ida
  23. Hi, I am probably encountering some of the same issues. I have the file set up with stories and story levels. When I changed my slab thinkness i got issues with the walls. I had to set some of them up with a minus (some -200 some -50, not in relation to the wall style) on bot bound to get them to show the correct height. "bot bound", "layer elevation", "top bound", "layer wall height". On some stories everything updated automaticly but one floor i got big problems with. A temporary fix was to copy the wall into a blank file and copy it back. That works for now, but will give me problems with the IFC Globalld in a later stages of the project. The problem is sent to my local Vectorworks guy and sent further to VW in U.S. It did not fix itself in the update yesterday.... As my local goy called it your walls are currupt, but why are they currupt. I will see if there is a better way to set up the file, have not used a BIM template. And got the same pdf as Wes is talking about. Will keep you updated on the issue. Ida
  24. @Gester Sorry been sick so haven't checked the forum. 1. Have you tagged the lines individually with IfcGridAxis. Choose one grid line In the window for IFC Data mark the "IfcGridAxis" under "Data Sets for this object", mark "AxisTag" under "Properties for the selected Data Set" and change the "String value for the selected property" to V1 for the first vertical line V2 for the next. For the horizontal,l UA, UB and so forth. Then make a group of all the axis lines and give it the IFC property IfcGrid. 2. export to IFC with story 1 in my case. 3.In Solibri it shows like the attached file. You have to click a button in Solibri to be able to turn on and of the grid. My pre settings are with the grid off. "Hide footprint control" top right corner. Marked on the pic. With the grid box symbol that appears on the right you turn it on and off, marked on pic. Hope you get it to work now! Ida
  25. @Gester Question 2 i can not help with. Question 1. Dont know if I understand you correctly. But in the case of my grid that worked it looked like this (see attached). I just tagged with U and V. Do you have a z axis also on your grid? Have not tried to get it to work with a third axis. So that is probably were your problem is. Dont know if this was of any help....
