Not for us..... My office is currently using project sharing in large school project. Some of you might have seen our presentation at the Summit in Chicago. The file we are using is getting more and more complex and now we are experiencing quite a lot of difficulties. Was wondering if anybody else are having the same frustrations, or have found solutions? The biggest problems comes when you want to change for example a wall type. That means you have to check out a lot of layers and sheets to be able to do it. We currently have about 160 sheets in the working files are about 700MB. When you then try to commit the file crashes. you lose the changes you have made. Ida

Hi, I would like to offset text in a swing bi-part door. Is that possible? It only seems to work in 3D. I have entered the text in ID prefix (door type) and ID suffix (door identification number). This was the only way to get it in to IFC and also to use it in worksheets, that are possible to edit. I have entered text maually to show where I want it. This is to mark what leaf of the door is the main one when there are different automatics/fire safety measures for each leaf. Attached a screen shot on how i want it text offset, and a screen shot of possibilities in Revit that would be good to implement in vectorworks! It is very limited what info you can get both in plan 2D and exported to IFC without typing in info in several different places. Ida

Hi all, Just installed SP3 and a bit disappointed that there is no development on the ceiling grid tool. It still exports the same way to IFC without the marking of the ceiling grid like in 3d VW. I really need an easy way to get grid lines of the ceiling to export to IFC. Do anybody have a good solution/ work around for this? What i want is control of the ceiling grid pannels so that we can see the placing of the other consultants fixtures in our ceilingrid when exported to IFC. To model each panel separately is not a solution.... Ida

Working on it. Have sandt parts of the file before witout getting a explanation, but have just sendt the entire file. (All this is to our local Vectorworks guy) Guess he has submited it as a bug. I can also send you or somebody else at VW the file if you want to have a go. It is also originallly a VW 2015 file. Ida

Hi, Now this is happening again to new ceilings, with no apparent reason. It has nothing to do with the slab style. It gets a different z height in the OIP and disappears when I try to edit. Will this be fixed in SP3? This gives us a lot of extra work.... Ida

Hi, Our Norwegian keybord, uses the same shortcut as the german one like Zoomer describes. It has woked fine up to 2016. I still have 2015 on my computer and I now tried it there. It does not seem to work in 2015 anymore. I have OXS El Capitan 10.11.2. English VW 2016 SP2. So it will come back with SP3? A lot of people are missing it in my office. Ida

Hi, Its confimed as a bug. Will be fixed in SP3. Getting use to do strange workarounds

Hi, Thanks for the input. Have found a solution. The vectorworks distributor suggested to draw the 3d element of the hybrid symbol as an generic solid instead of an extrude. That fixed the problem. But the strange thing is that some of them worked and otheres did not. Still have some hybrid symbols that are extrudes and work fine. Ida

I have made some sink and toilets objects in Vectorworks using IFCSanitaryTerminalType. They are hybrid 2D/3D symbols with a simple 3d volume set at a specific height. The problem is that they don't all export with the right height to IFC. Have anybody experienced the same issue? I guess its a bug. As you see they show with the right height in VW but in IFC one of the sinks have a height of 0. This happens randomly. I have tried to copy paste the symbol that has the right height in IFC but it still shows as 0. Have also tried to replace with another symbol and replace with the right one again. Have also edited the height of the symbol back and forth. Have also tried to copy back and forth to a new file. Any workaround or other tips are appreciated! Ida

Hi, It also seems to be an issue if you have a lot of sheets and layers checked out. It crashes more often if that is the case. It can be solved by using the project sharing menu, but it seems there is a bug whit it. Some times randomly when you chose one or two layers to check out and you have several checked out. It checks out all of them even if you have not chosen all of the,. Ida

Hi, We have had a similar issue. One of the users (we are 3 on the project) have had issues the last week with files crashing. It happens when she tries to commit both with save and commit or through the project sharing menu. In the last instance she has one layer and one sheet checked out. We did a new working file from the project file and the changes that she had committed when the old file crashed was luckily there. Just had to forced release the sheet that was looked through the old file. When trying to commit again it worked. So a happy ending on this one. We have the project file on the server and the working files locally. It has been sent as a problem to our vectorworks guy as a problem. Ida

This ceilings (slabs) disappearing when i try to edit is continuing to happen randomly and is very anoying! Now it was just one againg that had got the strange height and disappeared when i tried to edit. Bug??? Ida

Hi zoomer, Thanks for the update on IFC. The objects are not IFC imports, but native VW objects. Slabs tagged as IFC Covering. Ida

I have had some slabs tagged as IFC Covering that have a strange behaviour. At first I had some problems with some of the slabs (not all of them) that they show a z height of -135000 and are actually in 0. When i tried to edit them they disappeared, but they where still in the file when i marked all, they just did not show. I had to replace all the slabs that were broken, and it has worked fine. I also tried to change the z height back to 0 but then i got «The geometry of the slab you are editing can not be computed. HIt Yes to delete the slab or No to continue editing.» But then I got the problem with one of the slabs again, this time when i tried to edit it (change the size) the program crashed. Tried again and the same result. Any one with the same problem? Attached a slab that works fine with normal z height and the slab with a strange z height that made the program crash. The slabs are slab styles, but it seems random witch one are broken and not. This has also been sent to our local Vectorworks guy. Ida

Hi Wes, The ceiling exports fine to IFC (ceiling grid tool), but I cant use it because I can not change it to the correct thicknesses. So have to use the slab tool and tag it. I would like to untag the ceiling grid so it can be on the same layer as the tagged slab. I can of course just have it on another layer. Was actually wondering if it was possible to untag an IFC entity? I would like to use the ceiling grid tool in addition because of the easy change in size and placing of the grid. Also see that you now have implemented the grid lines in 3D, the lines are a bit higher than the thickness ceiling so you can see it in 3d render mode. This would be really great to also get into solibri. Then we have more control with the installations from the consultants on the project. Ida

Hi, Still no way of making ceiling grid in IFC.... See that the ceiling grid tool now shows in 3d vectorworks (2016), the ceiling is 25,4mm and the grid lines are a bit heigher 35,4mm. But it still exports to IFC as one uniform shape. The problem for me is also that I want to adjust the thickness! 25,4 mm is not a good thickness for Norwegina standards. I guess this is a feet and inch thing. Since i now need to do two objects on top of eachother. One slab taged as IFC covering with the correct thickness and one IFC ceiling grid to be abel to work with the ceiling grid in 2D. Is it possible to untag the IFC entity from the ceiling grid? Or do I need to do yet a nother layer..... Ida

Hi, I tagged the wall end cap as a IFC Entity WallStandardCase, the same tag as the walls automaticly get. What is strange is that it does not export as a closed volume like the walls, but as layers that the wall is built up from. The light yellow on the picture is the wall end cap and the grey is the wall. The green is the wall behind the cap just marked in solibri. Everything that has an IFC tag will be exported. Some objects get it automaticly and other has to be tagged, by using the IFC button on the bottom left corner of the object info pallet. Hi, We had some problems with references moving randomly. But realised that if we updated the reference even if it was not marked as "up to date" it jumped back in the right place. Have no idea why, but after SP2 2016 it has not been an issue. Ida

Hi, Anybody using a wall end cap and exporting to IFC? I have taged it as a IfcWallStandardCase, and in the IFC file it does not show correctly. It has a open corner and just showes the layers in the wall. See attachment. Using 2016 SP2.
