  1. Hey guys, I have 2 questions I am wondering if there is a faster way to render light output with lighting instruments. Right now the process just seems so clunky I have to think there is a better way. Right now its: -Place lighting instrument -place focus point -"focus" instrument to focus point -Turn light on Then if there is a gobo or lit fog there are additional steps. If you're working with more than a few fixtures this process is extremely time consuming. Also, it there away to soften a gobo texture? Similar to if you ran the barrel out in real life? Thanks!
  2. Thanks guys! Fixed the default inst. texture and it did the trick. Thanks!
  3. Sorry, I should have spoken more clearly. The lighting fixtures show up fine, but no light comes out of them. I've tried it in multiple files, including one super minimal one I made just to test (only a light, and a surface to light nothing else). Thanks!
  4. Hey, I'm running 2016. I've had no problem with this in the past, but all day I have not been able to get my theatrical lighting dixtures (in spotlight) to render out in either fast or final renderworks. In Open GL they render fine, and if I just drop in a lighting object it works fine. However, spotlight fixture+renderworks=no visible light. I had no problem with this yesterday, trying to figure out what settings I may have changed? Thanks
  5. Hey, I'm trying to work on 2 files simultaneously in 2k16, but it seems to only let me toggle between them on my main window. I'd like to be able to do a side by side comparison, with both files up on my screen at the same time. Is there a trick?
  6. Hey guys, My company is looking to purchase a (mac) machine that would be a dedicated drafting station, using 2k16 w/ spotlight and renderworks. I'm working on my laptop currently (macbook pro mid2014), but it doesn't really cut the mustard for rendering. It works but it slow as hell, so we're looking to catch an upgrade. Price is an issue, of course, so we are looking at refurbished machines. The one we have out sights on now has the following spec's: The Mac Pro "Twelve Core" 2.66 (Mid-2010/Westmere) is powered by dual 2.66 GHz Six Core 32-nm Xeon X5650 (Westmere) processors with a dedicated 256k of level 2 cache for each core and 12 MB of "fully shared" level 3 cache per processor. It also could be equipped with other dual Six Core processors, but these are documented as their own models for convenience. By default, this model is configured with 16 GB of 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC SDRAM, a 1 TB (7200 RPM, 32 MB cache) Serial ATA hard drive, an 18X dual-layer "SuperDrive" and a nVidia 8800GT graphics card. Expansion includes two external 5.25" "optical" bays (one free by default), four internal 3.5" "cable-free, direct attach" hard drive bays (three free by default), and four PCIe 2.0 slots (one free PCIe 2.0 x16 slot and two free PCIe 2.0 x4 slots with the default single graphics card installed). Ports include five USB 2.0 ports, four Firewire "800" ports, dual Gigabit Ethernet, two Mini DisplayPorts and a dual-link DVI port, among others. AirPort Extreme (802.11a/b/g/n) and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR is standard. Although the "Mid-2010" models look essentially the same externally as the "Early 2009" models, all "Mid-2010" models are equipped with faster graphics and there are significant technical differences for higher-end "Westmere" models as well with faster processors and as many as twelve cores (two six core processors) via custom configuration. I'm not extremely computer savvy, so I'm hoping someone can offer some insight/advice on this particular configuration. The renderings would mostly be for lighting purposes so we'd need to deal with shadows, textures etc etc. Thanks!
  7. Hey, I have a question about publishing saved view. The problem I am having is that only the active layer is properly rendered, every other layer is in wireframe when I publish to PDF. So, if I have several layers visible and all rendered to hidden line on my screen, when I publish to PDF only 1 layer will be hidden line and the rest will be wireframe. Thanks!
