  1. 35 drawing (assume design) layers seems like a lot for any drawing, classes yes, maybe you are using layers when you should be using classes. The viewports will also save your sets, but saved views is great, just make sure you resave after you have altered anything.
  2. Unfortunately most of the really good people in 3d take huge amounts of computer power to render so most illustrators will Photoshop them in after the render. Trees are the same. Generally external renderings have all the landscaping, people and cars inserted in Photoshop whereas internal renderings most is done by the VW program.

    Door Trim

Am sure that in the OIP you have the option to show detail in 3d or 2d or none.
  4. Don't have anything selected on the screen, then set your dimension style and should work, or right click on the dimension and select create similar objects, then this should also create the same dimension style.
  5. Is your door actually in the wall?? Does you object info palette allow you flip the door? It may not actually be in the wall. Check in isometric view. If not drag it out and snap it back in.
  6. You don't need to use the wall over and under any more in VW2015, not at computer but as I recall if you choose the mitre on one side and choose fit to wall I think it will auto mitre to the corner.
  7. Dam not near computer so can't check what I did to solve the situation other than copy a rectangle filled to match your wall colour.
  8. Sometimes if you have heavy line weights for walls they show up badly in the viewport. Try adjusting them, see this posts here I adjust all the wall and window components so I get a nice clean render. 9. The walls-ceiling class allows you to turn on the lines of the head over to show in ceiling plan, haven't tried as away from computer but adjust the class to have fill. See if this works.
  10. Have you looked at this video? www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4QHZQLmHRI
  11. Search "Styled Walls Vectorworks 2015" under videos and you have a video on adjusting wall heights. Don't have exact address as only on iPad on holidays. Try this
  12. With great difficulty, probably a lot of lofting.
  13. Always a good idea to have something in the drawing to use as a reference say a box that you can check the scale against if you are unsure.
  14. I always export as PDF that way I can print any size I want, also you can batch publish or print depending which version of VW you have.
  15. Are your walls part of a storey or styled walls that are controlled by component or by layer elevation. If you have them set this way you will only see the dots move. You will need to adjust them to relate to layer elevation or wall height and then you can adjust or set to unstyled.
  16. Not near a computer but I would draw half the arc in elevation then extrude the thickness of the wall, this should allow you to put textures on the same way. Then duplicate and mirror, don't use any fillet commands etc as this will stop you from using the components idea. Look at the table video.
  17. Hi, if you want dramatic lighting make sure you indirect lighting is set low otherwise it tends to wash out the shadows. I tend to have real low indirect and sometimes none, use realistic and use HDRwhite as background lighting with 2 bounces. I also tend to render with custom renderworks realistic fast, either interior or exterior. After you do you first render go to your resource browser and adjust the saved lighting style unless you set it all first. HTH
  18. Just in case you have selected top rather than sides this shows how to select sides and other faces. You probably already know this but just in case. HTH
  19. Hi pretty sure I read this before that you cannot put a different texture bed on top of the other, one seems to take control, you can't even cut a hole in one to show the texture under. I think you would need to draw them so they almost touch. If you want another texture over the other the workaround was to have a small split in one texture bed and have the other use the gap to infill. Like the letter"C" HTH
  20. This should show you how it's done it's a curved wall with a capping that you control the texture mapping of all sides of the arch, well in this case the brick capping, the principle is the same. Looking at you arch I think you are using texture by object and not by components, I am not at computer but you choose by component not by object and this will give you the option to change all sides of the object. To adjust the bricks you may need to rotate as well as scale the texture. There a few other videos on my site that may assist also, look at the table one. HTH
  21. The ability to stop and start the handrail would be good if you didn't need it to continue. There are 3 seperate stair tools as I recall, could it be condensed into one. The normal handrail tool which has glass with pin fixing could these be used on the handrails for the stair tool and have the ability to set the fixing points.
  22. Yes there seems to be an issue which happens occasionally which I cannot replicate and it only has happened on a few occasions and not with vw2015 it was 2008. Tech support may have to see what happens.
  23. Hi, not near computer with program as am travelling till late June but I think under tools you can set the origin which unless I am mistake will be your new origin for that design layer (0,0) this is the only way to change the origin. Hope your solved your problem? Let us know how you were able to so if I have same issue I may have a solution, thanks.
  24. Try this not sure if this helps but it shows how to deal with scale of texture mapping. Ther are a few other videos related to this link that may also help.
  25. Agreed that the stair tool need work as its a bit restrictive. A post for suggestions and problems that we have all incurred may help to distill out what needs to change as each person will have different issues. Thanks
