  1. Hi, I see at the tab at the side Design Layers and Saved views. I have version 3.7
  2. Have you tried referenced viewport for units the same? Am doing a multi unit dev at present and I am drawing the units in a separate file and creating a Referenced viewport to the main file and positioning the viewport there. I can then generate all my sections and elevations direct from the 3D viewports. Roof is also modelled in the Unit plan, anything that is the same i do in the base. then model the different balconies in the overall file. All the door and window schedules elevation come from a vieport that is cropped to the 3D model window. Even the door schedule comes directly from cutting a section viewport in front of the door, and turning off the section viewport markers. HTH Note; Had trouble with storeys as the wall styles are related to a storey so the 3d ref viewport came over with the wall but no height. Workaround at present till I understand it better was to delete the Storeys and use Elevation and wall heights for the walls to bound to.
  3. Check that in the OIP the angle is set to 0 or adjust that when you are selecting the WD-ID tag
  4. Hi, have you the latest update? It allows you to turn on and off and grey the design layer from a tab on the side. And the best part is all your saved views are there also so you don't have to struggle to get the site model up to the screen, just hit one of your saved views and you can start walking around the 3D view from this saved spot. Only wish that the option would be there to provide a Client a login and password to take them to their file and they could walk around also. Nomad is good because the you are not giving the file to the Client for him to take your intellectual property where the viewer requires the client to have the file. This is important at early design stages where your ideas are valuable.
  5. I can toggle through the various groups along the top of screen to the right using the "U" key but can I go back. If in need to go from start to end each time with 5 modes to pass over before I get back to start its faster to use the mouse. You can't put a hot key on them or move your favourite ones beside each other with an option to go left or right can you?? Thanks
  6. This is nice, This is not going to help my aim to have staff at the office to change over from Sketchup to Vectorworks at the early stage of design. I hope VW is reviewing their competition in order to be one step ahead because these simple things make it hard to get people to swap over when the competition has these great things. In a residential office these sort of things make life so much easier to be able to show the Client a final design quickly.
  7. Am drawing a disabled ramp using the ramp tool and I find I cannot make the landing length shorter than the width of the ramp. You can make the landing longer (adjusting the Offset) but I don't seem to make the landing shorter. If I make the width of the ramp narrower the landing can be shorter. Am I missing something? Also the Handrail, can I position the rail in from the edge as you do in the stair tool? So I am thinking the only way to draw a ramp with a few landings in a straight line is to model it in 3D by solid modeling? Can't use a slab tool as you can't rotate them. Hopefully I am missing something simple.
  8. Is there any way by using the stair tool to create a ziz zag stair break tool. Seems to only produce a straight line.
  9. Maybe everyone knows this but I just discovered that you can rotate the clip cube. Double click on it and you get 4 blue dots, move over the dots and you get a circle and then move it will rotate. Can you rotate it about any other axis??
  10. Kevin, Actually this is not what you were talking about, you referred to the Section Style, ok got it and this gives me another option. the best bit about the first one is that is shows the section material. Is there a better way or are these my options. Would like to show thick lines in section and their material hatch and the lines in the distance in light lines . Especially a slab in section and in elevation across the void in light lines.
  11. Kevin, Thanks, worked a treat. Changed the class for the lines showing beyond the section cut and they are light or whatever you need. So good. Thanks
  12. Hi, Refer to attached. I am doing a Section/Elevation and the wall and slab is cut in section and also viewed in elevation. Controlling all through the viewports at present I can set the hatch to show but I need show the wall in section a heavier line style without it affecting the same in elevation. Any ideas?
  13. If you go document settings and Units if you set them her to metric the sheet borders show in metric and vice versa.
  14. [i work best with Class Options set to Show/Snap/Modify and Layer Options set to Show or Show Snap others. This will typically reduce the number of accidental selections.] I typically work like this rather than as a locked layer. I find I am always selecting the locked layer rather than the item I need to move so I end up sending it to the back to avoid selection it but it still is annoying. Show Snap others is great because you can still snap to it to draw items but cant select it.
  15. Hi, Since discovered that the best way to do show a plan in Open GL cut through the windows (or any height ) was to create a plan viewport then click in the OIP to view the viewport from front or any then cut a section viewport across the viewport (without going into the viewport) and the resultant wil be a slice through the plane and you can render it in open GL and all looks great.
  16. Hi, Think we found out what happened. The window WD-ID class does not show up in the class list until you call it show the windows in a schedule in the WinDoor info pallet. So that's where the confusion started. Once that was ticked it showed up in the classes, and of course it helps to turn on the class. So I think that was the only reason we couldn't see it. All good now.
  17. If you create a T shaped polygon as your roof on plan then create your 3D roof from AEC Create roof you can then change the roof pitch on the sided you want to and the valley textures will be seamless. HTH
  18. Hi, Have a problem that the WinDoor ID tag is not showing up, it shows only as a dot. Actually when you insert a window it does not even insert the Class WD-ID either. If I use the Window rather than the WinDoor I can get the Tag and number to show. Same file works perfectly on other computers but not mine. even restarts haven't fixed it. Fine on other computer but not mine Any ideas. Thanks. PS it all just came back all good for no apparent reason. MMMMMMMM
  19. Benson, Could you run a short video on what you did as it will be much easier to follow step by step what you did and maybe add to a youtube channel? I can follow what you did but the video really helps. If you don't have a screen capture program Powerpoint (Under insert Media) has one attached that can record screen and audio. Thanks.
  20. Ahhhh.. that's so wonderful, small things amuse small minds. Thanks, always so simple but annoys the whole office. Always complaining about the program. Wait till tomorrow. LOL
  21. Hi, Is there a way to have the viewports hold the rendering rather than every time you go to the sheet layer you have to re-render them all?? Thanks
  22. Ok, My solution so far is; Make a new design layer for the typical unit for each level and have that design layer bound to the relevant storey, from this separate design layer create a viewpoint and place on the main plan with all the units. It appears you cannot change the storey elevation for the referenced viewport so you will have to lower the viewport down by the storey elevation to get it back down to the design layer you are working on. This will not affect any of the walls and if you change the storey ceiling height it will change all the viewports also. The 2d notes etc seemed to stay at 0 rl but if you select then all in plan mode and move them by 0,0 they jump up to the plan which is great, so all your references sit nicely with their 2d plan notes etc and the bound wall all work, all seems ok. so far. Well shall see.
  23. Great thanks for this, its easy when you know how.
