  1. We released a re-engineered and re-designed version of the desktop app in September, 2019 so it looks different than what you may have been used to seeing before. It should look like this. Click on the first icon (highlighted in green on my screenshot) to open the status dialog. Do you see any activity or any errors shown there?
  2. Do you have the Vectorworks Cloud Services desktop app running on the machines that you are trying to sync between? Do you see anything on the Status dialog?
  3. Hello @Stu Wilson, I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the syncing. Are you seeing empty folders on one machine that are not there on the other? Or are there file differences as well? Is the file list on the cloud (cloud.vectorworks.net) also different from what you see locally? I see that at some point you had a second account. If you have ever logged in with a different account to the Vectorworks Cloud Services desktop app, the Vectorworks Cloud Services folder would be used for whichever account you logged in first. Any other account that you log in with, gets a different folder with the account name as a suffix. Please check your Users folder and look for any other folder that starts with Vectorworks Cloud Services. You can also check which folder that the app is assigned to by going to the app Settings. The path to the local folder will be in the General section. That information would help us narrow down the problem. Best regards, Iskra Nikolova
  4. Hello, I just wanted to post what I found out as to why the VCS Log in command is not shown in the list of “removed menu items (legacy)” in the workspace editor. The reason is that the menu command was completely removed from the application, not just removed from the workspaces. The commands listed in the legacy list are still physically existing in Vectorworks and can be re-added to the workspaces if desired. In this case, the VCS Log in command was not going to be functional at all, if left in the application, therefore it was removed entirely. I hope that helps! Best regards, Iskra Nikolova
  5. This menu item was removed in 2020, so nothing will break now that you have removed it from your workspace. The sign in is now done through the Vectorworks sign in (in the top right corner). If you try to use any of the Cloud menu commands without being signed in, the sign in dialog will appear. I will follow up as to why it is not on the legacy list. Thank you!
  6. The reason why this could be happening is an old workspace that's left over from a previous version. I would make sure that you are using one of the default workspaces that come with Vectorworks 2020. If you are using an old modified workspace you can edit it with the workspace editor to remove the login menu command.
  7. Hi @Sittingducks, I am glad to hear that all is well now. I entered your suggestion into our project tracking tool. We will consider it as we plan for future improvements. Thank you! Best regards, Iskra Nikolova
  8. Hi @jeremyb, I submitted this as a bug to our desktop app engineers and I will post an update when I get a response back. Are you seeing this on OSX 10.11.4? The answers to the questions that @jblock asked you would also be helpful for troubleshooting the issue. Thanks, Iskra Nikolova
  9. @STR, Thanks for posting my answer! I was just searching to find it myself, because I know I have answered the same question before. 🙂 Regards, Iskra Nikolova
  10. Hi Jason, I am sorry to hear that you are continuing to experience problems. We have tested the application quite extensively before releasing. Unfortunately, we have not yet seen the issue you are describing. We will investigate it and release a fix as soon as possible. Reverting to an older version is not very easy and might cause issues as well. I will discuss this option with the team and we will contact you if we need any additional information about your specific environment. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this is causing you. Best regards, Iskra Nikolova
  11. Hello, @Sittingducks, We have released the fix for the proxy issue. The new version number is 8.0.803. You can download the new app from here (if due to the connectivity issue, the app is unable to auto-update itself): For Mac: https://cloud.vectorworks.net/download/latest/Mac For Windows: https://cloud.vectorworks.net/download/latest/Windows Please let us know if you continue to experience problems. Regards, Iskra Nikolova
  12. Thank you for your report! We are looking into it.
  13. Hi @sandii, I apologize for the delayed response. Our team has taken a look at the issue, but unfortunately, there is no easy fix for this problem. On Android, the library that we are using to handle PDFs is quite old now and has a lot of restrictions. This issue can be fixed if we change the whole procedure that we are using to handle PDF-s. This is on our list of things to do in the future, but I cannot provide an estimate at this time. Best regards, Iskra Nikolova
  14. Hello Nic, Do you have a Drive Enterprise, or just a free Google Drive with shared login credentials? Vectorworks Cloud Services does not officially support Drive Enterprise, but we can consider this as an improvement in the near future. If you use a free Google Drive with shared credentials, would it solve your problem if you integrate the Google Drive account to your Vectorworks Cloud Services account? However, note that a Google Drive account can be integrated with only one Vectorworks Cloud Services account at a time. If the Google Drive account you would like to use is already associated with another Vectorworks Cloud Services account, that other account will no longer have access to that Google Drive account. To re-integrate, you just need to add the integration back, which in turn would disable the integration on the previous account and so on. I hope this information helps a little bit. Please don't hesitate to ask me any other questions you may have. Regards, Iskra Nikolova
  15. Yes, this is definitely high on our list of priorities!
  16. Just pasting my response to the other thread here to keep everyone in the loop.
  17. Hi @milezee, The file size is not the biggest factor when it comes to handling files in AR mode. What matters more is the polygon count. I see that this model has 19706 faces - see the attached screenshot. I realize that this is a Vectorworks symbol from the library, but it has a lot of faceted geometry. Unfortunately, this type of model cannot be handled by the AR viewer engines at the moment. We are actively looking to find a solution for these types of problems in the future. Best regards, Iskra Nikolova
  18. Hi @milezee, I am sorry to hear that you are having troubles using the AR viewer. Can you please provide more details? What device and OS you are running on? Is Nomad crashing as soon as you enter the viewer, or is it crashing at the point when it is trying to load your model? If it crashes when it is trying to load the model, you can try reducing the size/complexity of the model. I posted some tips on how to do that here:
  19. Thanks for your feedback! We are looking into the possible ways we can make Nomad handle large files. In the meantime, I'd like to offer some tips that you can use to reduce the file size of your models, so they can be handled by Nomad. - Try decreasing the polygon count. Round stair handrails and guardrails have high poly counts. - Use the Simplify mesh command - Export less objects to the .vgx file by making layers and classes invisible. - Use the clip cube to control which parts of the model are exported. - Use lower export quality setting in the Export Web View dialog - affects curved surfaces and quality of textures.
  20. Hi @sandii, I work with the team who develops the Nomad mobile app. We are able to reproduce the problem you are seeing and we will investigate it. I will post an update when it becomes available. Thanks, Iskra Nikolova
  21. Hi @techdef, We investigated the issue that you are reporting. Our logs indicate that the files are synced to the cloud, but the problem is actually happening while trying to download the files on your local computer. It seems that the user running the Vectorworks Cloud Services desktop app does not have write permissions to the Vectorworks Cloud Services folder, or at least parts of it. Please refer to this page: https://support.apple.com/kb/ph25287?locale=en_US and especially the "apply to enclosed items" action. Please let us know if you continue to experience problems after checking your permissions. Regards, Iskra Nikolova
  22. Hi Simon, From the behavior you are describing, it sounds like you are trying to view a model that the AR engine cannot handle. I would suggest simplifying the model by turning off layers and classes that aren't needed or that contain a lot of curved geometry. If you are willing to share your file, we can take a look and we might be able to identify which objects are the biggest burden in your specific file. You can contact me directly at inikolova@vectorworks.net. Regards, Iskra Nikolova
  23. I am glad you found my response helpful! Yes, I would say "Stay away from shortcuts in general, especially if they point to a network location". I was the one who needed to test the behavior of shortcuts when this feature was added, and I honestly still remember the nightmares I was having from that 😅. Things can get really confusing if you also install the desktop app on more than one computer. I hope we can make this more clear with the redesigned app.
  24. Hi Bo, The Vectorworks Cloud Service Desktop app is syncing one file at a time currently. The upload/download speed largely depends on the distance between you and the server, where the files are stored (in our case Northern Virginia). We could be doing things better in the future, such as having servers around the world, so users can upload/download from a server that is closest to their current location. Another issue is that the Desktop app hasn't gotten much development lately. We are planning an entire redesign of the app, which should address a lot of the current deficiencies. Currently, the Desktop app doesn't delete folders from the cloud, just files inside of them. So, if you delete the folders from your Vectorworks Cloud Services folder, you will end up with empty folders on the Web portal, that you would need to delete manually. That could be contributing to the confusion. According the our log files, the syncing process did take a log time, but eventually completed. You could use the Vectorworks Cloud Services desktop app's Status dialog to get an idea if a sync is currently going or not. We can't be exactly sure that this is really what happened, it but after review of our log files, our theory is as follows: - You created a shortcut of a network folder into the Vectorworks Cloud Services folder, which resulted in the files from their original location on your server to be uploaded to the cloud. - There was a network interruption to your network folder, which resulted in files from the cloud to get deleted, because the app thought that the files were deleted locally - When the connection to your network folder was resumed, the app deleted them locally, because they were no longer available on the cloud So, the files that got deleted should be available in the Trash folder on the Vectorworks Cloud Services Web portal, but they will not be in a folder, due to the fact that the Desktop app deleted them individually and left the folder undeleted. See https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/integrate-with-dropbox/ and https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/share-files/. If the Dropbox syncing works much better for you, you could use the Dropbox sharing while still allowing Vectorworks Cloud Services access to your files, so you could use all of the Vectorworks Cloud Services features (such as cloud rendering capabilities, viewing of 3D models in the browser, Bluebeam integration, viewing of 360 panoramic images and so on) with your Dropbox files. I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly at inikolova@vectorworks.net with any additional questions. Best regards, Iskra Nikolova
  25. Hi @Ian M., This is the Help article about the Photos to 3D model: https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/generate-3d-models-from-photos/?app=WEB This is the Help article about the 3D model generation on the cloud: https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/generate-3d-models-from-vwx-files/?app=WEB This is the article that explains how to control the model that is generated on the cloud: https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/prepare-vwx-files-for-cloud-processing/?app=VECTORWORKS# Note that some of the articles have more than one tab that you can switch to, to provide you content for the platform that you are interested in - Web refers to the Vectorworks Cloud Services website, Android and iOS refer to the Nomad mobile apps. For the last article, I'd like to clarify that the cloud server always does "Fit to objects" before exporting the web view, so setting a specific perspective view locally won't result in the same initial view for the web view when processed on the cloud. If you want to have a specific initial view of the web view, which doesn't have the entire model within the screen boundary, we recommend that you do the web view locally and then upload the .vgx file to the cloud. This is something I have planned to add to this article with the next documentation updates. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Regards, Iskra Nikolova
