  1. Hi, I am chiming in to bring some information about the Vectorworks Cloud Services integration with Dropbox. If you use Dropbox to store or share your Vectorworks projects, you can enable integration with Vectorworks Cloud Services, so that Vectorworks Cloud Services accesses the files in your Dropbox storage directly (the files are not duplicated in your Vectorworks Cloud Services storage). Integration allows you to use the Vectorworks Cloud Services features without having to modify your existing Dropbox workflow or file structures. There are two integration options. You can switch from Limited access to Full access at any time. Limited access: A folder for Vectorworks Cloud Services is created in your Dropbox (Dropbox > Apps > Vectorworks Cloud Services). This is the only folder to which Vectorworks Cloud Services has read and write access. Dropbox only allows App folders to be shared as links, so the advanced Dropbox sharing capabilities via email are not available. Vectorworks Cloud Services’ email and link sharing are available. Full access: Vectorworks Cloud Services has access to all files and folders in your Dropbox. All Dropbox sharing capabilities are available in addition to the Vectorworks Cloud Services’ email and link sharing. The cloud server can process .vwx files to generate other types of files. - 3D models for viewing in a browser or in the Nomad mobile app, including AR viewing mode on compatible devices (can also be done on a set schedule) - Update and render viewports in .vwx files and generate PDF files (can also be done on a set schedule) - Publish files to all file formats that Vectorworks supports locally (started from Vectorworks and done on the Cloud) - Export Rendered Panoramas (started from Vectorworks and done on the Cloud) Please let me know if any additional information is needed. 2. Hi Christiaan, Do you and your colleague have two separate Vectorworks Cloud Services accounts? Or are you saying you have integrated the same Vectorworks Cloud Services account with more than one Dropbox account, which are members of a Dropbox Business? We have not really looked into Dropbox business yet, but we are planning on adding official support for in in the near future. It would be great if we could get a better understanding of your needs, as we plan for adding the support for Dropbox business. Regards, Iskra Nikolova
  3. Hello, Please send me a test file with such image (either post here or email it to me directly at inikolova@vectorworks.net) and I can investigate whether it is a bug or a setting that is available with Publish, but not available with the automatic PDF generation. When you use “Generate PDF”, there are a limited set of options that are available to the user to customize, as you posted in your screenshot. When you Publish to the cloud, the cloud server respects the PDF export settings that you set on your local Vectorworks, so that gives you the full flexibility. That is the reason we are not providing all possible settings for the automatic Generate PDF option. If a particular setting is very important for your workflow, and you would prefer to use the automatic Generate PDF option instead of Publishing, I would be glad to file an improvement request for us to consider for implementation in the future. Regards, Iskra Nikolova
  4. Hello, The Vectorworks Cloud Services Help contains a lot of the information that is being asked for here. Here is a link to it: https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/ - This page shows only featured articles. The full set of articles are on the side navigation menu. Each article has tabs, which allow you to read on a particular topic for each component that applies. You may want to read all of it, but the specific articles that refer to cloud processing are: https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/prepare-vwx-files-for-cloud-processing/ https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/generate-3d-models/ https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/generate-pdf-files/ https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/publish-files-from-vectorworks/ https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/export-rendered-panoramas-from-vectorworks/ https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/export-web-view-from-vectorworks/ I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions. Regards, Iskra Nikolova
  5. Hello Di9it8, I think this may be an issue with Safari 11 (prior versions are fine). Apple has updated its default protection mechanism. The browser can no longer access local files or resources located on a local drive (i.e. any file located within your /Users directory). Therefore, viewing local Web Views/Panoramas on Safari 11 will not work immediately. Luckily, there is a way to allow this to work again. However, the user needs to perform the following steps to allow this feature to work in Safari 11. 1. Go to Safari -> Preferences 2. Go to the “Advanced” and check the “Show Develop menu in menu bar.” This should initially appear unchecked. 3. The new “Develop” menu should now appear in the menu bar. Select “Develop,” and then select “Disable Local File Restrictions.” Viewing Web Views/Panoramas locally in Safari should now work. I hope this helps. 6. Hi Aaron, Thanks for getting back to me. Just a re-start should have been enough. There shouldn't have been a need to re-install, but I am glad to hear it started working for you. :-) Regards, Iskra Nikolova
  7. Hello @aa.schump, I am not sure of the exact circumstances under which this can happen, but it is usually resolved by re-starting Vectorworks. Please let me know if it still doesn't work for you and I can get more help from our engineers. Best regards, Iskra Nikolova Quality Assurance Specialist Vectorworks Cloud Services
  8. It seems like there is a bug with which icon appears after you switch back and forth a few times. We are thinking about removing the exit full screen icon (and just leave the Esc key as the only option), so this should technically solve the issue. I'll discuss the adding of the full screen option to the "bypass link" with the team, but I think ideally the link from Vectorworks and the link from the website should provide the same user experience. I believe the "bypass" option was done initially due to technical limitation that existed on the website, which in some cases would prevent the user from viewing the image as a panorama, and would show as a flat image. If this limitation has been overcome by now (I am not sure of its status), there should be no reason why getting a link to the same file from different places would deliver a different experience for the recipient. Thanks for posting on this issue! Iskra Nikolova
  9. Hi willofmaine, We have removed the VR icon from the desktop view, because this icon is specific for cardboard mode, which doesn't apply when you are viewing the Panorama from a desktop browser. Instead, there is a full screen icon that appears at the bottom center of the screen when you move your mouse around - see the attached image. I see that this icon is only available when you view the file on the Vectorworks Cloud Services website, but not when you use the link that Vectorworks returns. I will discuss this discrepancy with the team. I think the shareable link should provide the same experience, no matter if you access the file by using the link from Vectorworks or by using the shareable link acquired from the Vectorworks Cloud Services website. Other than being able to see the file in full screen, would there be another reason why you would want to bypass the Vectorworks Cloud Services website? Yes, there are still a few unresolved cases which may cause you to not get a shareable link in Vectorworks. I would be curious to find out more details about your specific workflow, since from my quick test, I was able to get a shareable link for a brand new image, which never existed before. Do you have Auto-upload disabled in the Vectorworks Cloud Services Desktop app by any chance? If you can send me specific steps that you are performing and a screenshot of the settings that you are using, I would be glad to look into the issue further and try to determine the exact reason why you may not be getting the links in Vectorworks. You can post them here, or email me directly at inikolova@vectorworks.net. Regards, Iskra Nikolova Quality Assurance Vectorworks Cloud Services
  10. Hi everyone, We just released a fix for the Desktop app startup issue on Windows 10 version 1709. Before running the app, you have to delete the following folder: C:\Users\USERNAME\Roaming\Nemetschek\Vectorworks Cloud Services\ Please let us know if you continue to experience problems. Regards, Iskra Nikolova
  11. Hi Michael, We also received this Windows update and are able to reproduce the issue. We are working on a fix. I'll post here again after the fix has been released. Thank you, Iskra Nikolova
  12. Hi Michael, Can you please delete the entire Vectorworks Cloud Services folder located at: C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Nemetschek and try running the Vectorworks Cloud Services desktop app again? If that doesn't help, my next guess would be to try uninstalling that specific Windows update and see if that helps. You can do that from Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Installed updates. Regards, Iskra Nikolova
  13. Hello, Thanks for trying this new feature of Vectorworks 2018. There are a few cases that we were aware of, which can cause the shareable link dialog to not appear. We will be looking into fixing them soon. In the meantime, if you don't receive the shareable link in Vectorworks, you can go to https://cloud.vectorworks.net, click on the panorama image and click on the Share link icon in the top right corner, or from the file's context menu. You may or may not have the link already created, but either way you can copy the link from there. Regarding the .jpg not having the custom render setting you selected: We first upload a preview image set to OpenGL rendering to the cloud, so you can get a quick preview of the panorama, and also to be able to get the link in Vectorworks at the time of the job submission. This preview image is replaced by the final panorama image when the rendering job is completed on the cloud. If, for some reason the rendering fails, then you will be left only with the preview image. Currently we see panorama renderings fail more often that we would expect, so we are looking into fixing this with a high priority. If you would like us to take a look and determine the exact reason why you are seeing these two problems, please email me your VSS username at inikolova@vectorworks.net and I would be happy to assist you further. Regards, Iskra Nikolova
  14. Hi Kevin, We have just released a newly designed Vectorworks Cloud Services website, which now has a better way of displaying job status and the names are not truncated. Opening of the status bar is now at a more obvious place, not hidden behind a file upload button. Now, you can open the status by clicking more... on the progress bar in the lower left corner of the page, but it will say Status... with the next release, for even better clarity. Your feedback was really appreciated. This release has numerous other improvements, which were requested by other users as well. The release notes can be found here: https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/releasenotes/ I hope you will enjoy using this new version of Vectorworks Cloud Services! Regards, Iskra Nikolova
  15. @gnkarch Hello, Sorry if I am responding too late to this question. I am not typically monitoring this forum on a regular basis. The missing font should not be a reason for rendering problems. If the Vectorworks document is using a font, which is not available on the server, which does the rendering, or in the user storage, and if there are no font mappings set by the user, Arial is used. You could use the Vectorworks Cloud Services Portal web page https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/files/ and send a feedback to us using the Feedback button in the top right corner of the page. If you see your viewports rendered in wireframe, this probably means that there is no Vectorworks serial number uploaded to your Cloud Services account. Once we know your user account info, we should be able to assist you further. Best regards, Iskra Nikolova QUALITY ASSURANCE VECTORWORKS CLOUD SERVICES
  16. Thank you for your feedback! We will consider it as we make plans for future improvements. Best regards, ISKRA NIKOLOVA QUALITY ASSURANCE VECTORWORKS CLOUD SERVICES
  17. Hi Kevin, Just to follow up, have you tried connecting with the same computer/or another computer on a different network? Thanks, Iskra
  18. Century Gothic is a font that is available on Windows by default, so I am guessing that the Mac version that you have installed is slighlty different. Since the cloud server is Windows based, all Windows system fonts naturally work with Vectorworks. However, in order to add the Mac system fonts, we had to do font file conversion and install those Mac fonts on the cloud. Over time, we are finding that some of these fonts are not working properly, even though we would be expecting them to work. We could try making the font list more specific per your suggestion - we could probably just identify if we are listing a Windows system font or a converted Mac font. Do you think that would help? If you convert your version of the Century Gothic font into a Windows version, and send that along with your file to the cloud, does it work? You could try using this free online font converter: https://onlinefontconverter.com
  19. In general, we recommend keeping the fonts on the same storage type as your vectorworks files. They don't have to be in the same folder, though. You could have a dedicated folder that only contains fonts as long as this folder is within a Dropbox folder that Vectorworks Cloud Services has access to. For example: If you have a Dropbox "full access" integration, and your .vwx file is in Dropbox, put your font files in any Dropbox folder as well. If you have Dropbox "limited access" integration, the .vwx files as well as the font files have to be inside the Dropbox > Apps > Vectorworks Cloud Services folder or its subfolder.
  20. I did some testing and it seems like the lenghth of the line is not affected by the "Update any plugins that need updating before Publishing" setting. The issue occurs when original font is replaced by another font, which is exactly what happens on the cloud. If the cloud cannot find the original font, it maps it to Arial. At this point the plug-in reset is not happening, so the new font might be longer or shorter than the original. The cloud server is not trying to do any other "faking" as you call it. And yes, since the cloud is Windows based, and you are Mac based, there is apossibility that some of the fonts do not work for that reason. Most of the time this can be fixed with proper font format conversion, but I have seen cases in the past where I convert a font to the proper required format and I am still unable to make it work. If you could send me the specific fonts that you are having issues with, I can try this on my end and see if I could make it work somehow. Otherwise, I would send it to a Vectorworks engineer to see if they can do anything to make this specific font work on the cloud.
  21. I realize it is not very obvious, we will keep this in mind for future Portal improvements. Did you know that you can also see your processing file statuses from the Desktop app Status dialog, as well as in Nomad?
  22. I'll be posting a response for the font issues as well. I did not miss it, just need some more time to respond. Yes, you need to click on the New button for the status bar to open.
  23. Can you provide me with detailed steps of what you are doing? From my testing, it seems to work as designed. Here is what I do: 1. Create a new file in Vectorworks - > Save to my Vectorworks Cloud Services folder 2. The file appears as upload pending in the Vectorworks Cloud Services Desktop app Status dialog, because the file is still open in Vectorworks. 3. I click Sync Files button on the Status dialog and the file gets uploaded. 4. I refresh the VCS Portal page, I see the new timestamp of when the file was last uploaded. Is this the workflow that you are referring to? The Portal timestamp represents the time when the file was uploaded. The desktop app does not upload files every time the file modification date/time changes on your computer (i.e. you save the file in Vectorworks) to prevent too much data from being sent over the network. It uploads automatically when you close the file in Vectorworks, but you still have the option to upload it while it is still open by clicking the Sync Files in the Status dialog.
  24. I don't thing the job trully fails in this case. It uses the latest available version in Dropbox, unless this is the first time you are saving this file in Dropbox? I realize this might be an issue with bigger files, which take some time to sync. When you are submitting the Publish job for a file, which don't yet exist on Dropbox, the Publish dialog will highlight the items selected for publishing in red to raise a flag for you - see the attached image. In this case, you would be allowed to submit the publish request, but you will obviously not get the result you would expect. :-) There are a few Dropbox Publish workflows that can be improved. We will keep those in mind as we plan for our next releases.
