  1. I found this morning that my 1TB HD was full. I knew I had close to 600GB of data and system, so I started search for what was consuming the rest of the drive. I found a fold inside my library folder that had 443GB. Yikes. It is titled "I", you can see the path in the screenshot. It was full of very old .vwx files and Vectorworks swap files. I deleted the entire contents. Now I'm watching the I folder, and when I save my Vectorworks file another .swap file is created. From what I had read on the internet, these files should disappear after a system reboot. I plan to test that. Anyway, what are swap files, do I need them. and is there a way to limited their creation?

Then there seems to be a bug that is effecting you and not very many other people. At least I have not seen any other posts about it.

    Standard trouble shooting is:

Reset Preferences (Reset button at the bottom left of VW Prefs)

Run VW Updater app and choose Repair from the Advanced button on the center right.

    Delete/Move User Folder

    Delete and reinstall VW.

    Good luck.

I agree, and I will try those things. Support is working on this with me too.

The next time it happens, try double tapping the tilde ( ~ ) key and see if they return.

I did try that every time, and again the last time. They do not reappear.

@Bruce Kieffer Happy New Year!  I'm having a little difficulty understanding what's not working; next time you have the issue would you mind doing a quick screen recording and sending it to me?

I will if it happens again. I spoke this with support on Monday and they suggested "repairing" Vectorworks using the updater and going to the Advanced settings. I did that, and so far the snapping issue and a few other issues I was seeing have not reappeared.

  5. It appears that when I migrated from 2023 to 2024 Vectorworks did not update the locations of my referenced files. You see in these screenshots that Vectorworks is looking to the file in my old user folder. The updated file is in my 2024 user folder. How do I update the reference?

If I were drawing the cabinetry details from your example, I would have drawn the shelf bracket support holes with 2D circle annotations in the Hidden Line SLVP. I would not bother with modeling them in 3D.

That is an option. I assume it would work to be able to snap to the center. Even so, not being able to see the outline of the dividers on the cabinet sides is still a problem. I've moved on and I have given up the idea of using section VPs to do what I need to do.

I don't really understand what you're trying to achieve. I'm not quite sure how a section of a wireframe would really be meaningful or useful. Can you post something that lets us see what you're trying to show?

Look back at the original post. I explained the need there.

    Ha thwarted again.

I thought this time I really outsmarted 'em.

I created a clip cube so that only my desired objects were visible.

Now no issues of a front view, and seeing through to objects behind what I wanted to show.

    Perfect.

Use the command to create a viewport , and "Display with clip cube" so only my clipped view would be in the viewport, and I could give it annotations.

    Ha...!

    The checkbox was greyed out.

Much head scratching until you hover over it, and read the info.

" ...Only available in shaded and renderworks modes"

Why is it so hard to do a section, or clip cube view port in wireframe?

I went down that wrong road too! Sad. The solution is easy. Give us wire frame in the section VP.

  9. I may have stated the problem wrong since when I disable the cues it looks different than my issue, which is, I can see the mid points and end points, but I don't see the pointer cues (the cross shown in the screenshot) to snap to those points.IMG_1910.thumb.jpeg.04e62174d135e3b0c31569b18993668a.jpeg
