  1. Oh, Brick Shader is a relatively new invention in VW (2014) But if you watch the last part of the video, it doesn't look that bad. Maybe it's worth to try to load in some texture images with other scale (?) to create some variation.
  2. What's the difference to the current option, just that you will look at it from now on Don't understand why Ressource Manger didn't get 11 from 1-10 applause though.

  4. Strange. I know that C4D doesn't render 2D geometry in a normal way, so does RW. It makes just a plane with a too low res image texture. I have to convert to 3D Polygons first. But I don't know why RW hides Text of your well working HL foreground render ? There is no option in RW to not use your annotation Class. Does cranking up any 2D/3D geometry quality setting or VP DPI make a difference ?
  5. Yes, a) is the problem about the missing lines while b) is the problem about having unwanted lines like in your examples as well as things like getting lines between same Walls of different Stories/Layers. If Jim doesn't find the time to look in here and confirm your request, I think it could be worth to start a Thread in the Wish List Forum, with a link to this.
  6. Does it make any difference if you set foreground to HL but background rendering to OpenGL only ?
  7. I rewatched the New Feature Videos from 2010, when I first tested VW, over 2014 when I bought VW, up to 2016. Beside 2016, which was an exceptional (5 !) "New Features loaded" release, all others had at least 80% of "how could I ever live without these" improvements. Some real pearls. I am really happy to have seen only 1 Web View VR so far ! (EDIT : Oooops, Irrigation Tools, but that's ok) Everything else leaked here are finally great improvements of existing Tools. I'm sure we can't avoid one or another completely new feature at final release date, but I think that is bearable. For me it sounds like a solid upgrade so far. If this release will stop 2016's VW eating and corrupting my data, I will be very very happy. I can't wait to see all those "less than 40 seconds Videos" Features, that may come. Will we see some of the Designers Lectures soon too ?
  8. Think I got it. You are asking for a functionality that currently is not there. So you have a Feature Request. You wish to have a Selective Exclusion Option for Element Edges in HL Render. I want to add my wishes : a) I want to ALWAYS have displayed a Line between 2 intersecting Faces when the angle between them is >0° b) As an Option, I want no Line displayed between 2 Faces touching at their edges, when the angle between them =0° AND they have the same Material or Color. (Maybe another Option, if both Faces use the same Class)
  9. Yes, the hidden line render option. The one without RW. It is the same that will HL render your perspective View Window. For RW users there are also Line options in OpenGl or Render Styles, even Hatches, but I think the original HL look finer. That's why I use these in my Viewports.
  10. That looks very cool. Nicely illustrated. But a bit UK standards driven.
  11. I wouldn't ever want these thousand Sketch and Toon Render + Material settings in VW. That doesn't look like fun. I think that even current camera settings is too much for the typical VW user. I like the reduced Material settings. And they could even be easier to use if cleaned up a bit and rearranged. I think is ok to need to go to a special Rendering App in those cases. In the chair leg case, why not making a temporary duplicate and Add Solid these just for rendering ? (all in one go) Doesn't mean VW should not optimize HL rendering. Using multi cores or include those 2 settings about hiding lines for touching elements of same material or ad lines in intersections, or optimizing hidden default settings.
  12. Losing Camera Position is one of the issues when only switching between active camera. Look at the numbers in XYZ. It happens to be changed in XYZ like this, 0,0,0 or even to the XYZ values of another Camara.
  13. I think the wishlist could work better if users would use always the search function before starting a new post (me included). That could keep the topics together and make the importance, interest or priority better readable. Of course a hierarchy tree would make search and finding easier. On the other hand I don't think information gets lost in the wishlist. I'm sure Jim sorts every request, including recaps, into the corresponding developer threads of every tool and part of VW. So everything is already there. At the end it just needs someone interested in reading and willing to fix these things. If there is any discrepancy about importance and priority between VW and users, even a nice Wiki would not help. I really like to have one though. (semi public for registered users) That would clean up the forum for those that simply need help or answered their questions how to do things in VW and make it look more positive for public.
  14. Oh, I'm not the only one. Something is holding me from getting excited about shiny new features as long as I have to fight with the legacy stuff. That makes me a little afraid that quite an amount of older issues will stay. I had done it completely the opposite way. Giving newer engineers with new ideas the older tools to completely revamp and free the more season ones from the same work, they have done over and over for 30 years, for motivation. EDIT: No, I think mixing new with experienced would be better. 2D graphics speed was not at the top of my list as I had no problems but welcome though, (EDIT: Now I remeber ...., yes 2D Display speed is an important feature) same for SubD improvements which may make me finally use them. My clear Highlight so far is of course the Ressource Browser with Tree and Preview. Not my biggest, but a very important issue finally adressed. But still very excited about those smaller changes, not worth being presented, that may be leaked in the future.
  15. I think it is just Walls that react on Symbol Cut Volumes. Like you can't apply a Window or Door to a Generic Solid. But that would be great if Symbols could cut any other Geometry !
  16. C4D sketch and toon has millions of settings for each behaviour. I do not know of HL settings in VW to avoid this. Also there are lines that I miss, like at the intersection of 2 surfaces. So for me there was no other solution than to model the 3D geometry according to the needed result. Like Add Solids to avoid certain lines and creating "physical" edges where I want to force to get HL's. That means you have to cheat by having your columns to sit/start on your finish floor or you have to cut out every column out of your finish floor. Also HL calculation does not work for 1-point perspectives where lines are parallel to your view axis. You have to rotate your camera a small amount.
  17. Is IFC capable of Free Form Solids or Nurbs at all ? I think the best I got in by IFC were some generic solids by Revit IFC's. For VW IFC reimports I just get loose faces.
  18. Yes, you can have a Symbol with 3 parts. 2D geometry, 3D geometry and 3D cutting hole geometry. So if you built your custom door symbol, the cutting geometry will auto-cut the hole in Walls and will follow if you move your Symbol of course
  19. MMB is no serious mouse button for current mice*. So View Rotation, or Fly Over called in VW, for me is still much easier in other Apps that use a real mouse button like LMB+Short Cut. I think I would like to use my Magic Mouse in 3D too. * MMB is nearly impossible with my Logitech scroll wheel, Microsoft has nice mice but dropped OS X driver support long ago, Mad Catz drivers stopped working with 10.11. I think they try but still have no driver released (I look out for one ever 3 days) and I am not confident they ever will.
