A fairly general request from a long time Acad & Accurender user who is commited to learning Vectorworks & Artlantis (vw 9.5.2 & artlantis render 4.0). Have greatly appreciated the Tech Board for finding my way through the Vectorworks side of things, and would have gladly chosen Renerworks if I had the processor and memory to cope with it. What I am really looking for is some general information on getting the most out of this software combination. I realise that this forum may not be the best place to discuss someone else's product and will gladly correspond by e-mail if anyone is in a position to offer the occasional bit of sage advice. I am currently working on a model of a building with vaulted roofs (vw 8.5.2)and am experiencing some odd behavior with the extrusions I have created. The extrusions are basically tubular forms which I have then trimmed by subtacting other solids from them in order to create barrel vaults and cross-vaults. Upon completion they apear fine and render properly, but if I close the file and then come back to work on it they invariably have dissapeared only to be replaced by objects only visible in wireframe and identified as "failed subtractions". Any suggestions or work-arounds?

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll try out the demo and sit tight for a little while.

I am thinking of upgrading to VW9.5 from VW8.5.2 but am concerned about hardware. Would I be looking for trouble using a somewhat dated pIII computer with 64 megs of ram and win98. One of the things I quite like about 8.5.2 is that it makes little demand on my system. The likelyhood of adding more memory is not problematic, but if more exhaustive measures are required I may happily work away as I am and wait to upgrade VW after replacing my system. Any suggestions?
