The tilt value will not be considered for the schematic.
It is display a front view as a 2d component.
Your best option is to use a viewport in a front view instead. -
I wonder if the Data Manager could be used to auto populate this data.
This is tricky as the hanging position is like a sort of container with the truss objects inside, I am not sure that the truss objects ‘know’ that they are part of this position.
I will see if my colleagues have any suggestions.
Presumably you want to be able to breakdown how many truss items of a particular length and make/model are used to create each position. -
Yes of course, any data fields from records or PIO's can be used to create a data visualisation.
-
Thanks for pointing this out Stefan, duly noted. I tend to use the 'Select System Objects' command followed by 'Calculate Selection'
I will let my colleagues weigh in with other solutions.- 1

That looks correct.
It depends what view you specify when you create the Schematic. This webinar should help.

Also I don't believe this is true
"Currently if you create a hanging position from trusses it is no longer possible to reference them in a worksheet."
If you check 'Use plug in objects' It will still count all the truss objects. -
I don't think its dying, All of Jesse's points are correct and depict a workflow using rigging objects such as truss, pipe, etc.
The Hanging Position command still has many uses, as mentioned above... Floor packages and particularly any custom geometry that you want to attach lights too.
Its another tool/command in your arsenal to allow greater flexibility, Whether its applicable to your particular workflow is up to you.
You give us an example of the kind of position you want to use it for?- 1

OK, Tech Support have had a look and found the fixtures that won't align and distribute have been set to a static accessory in the Object Info Pallatte.
If you set them back to lighting device then this should work.
It won't let you align static accessories as they normally have a parent device and sit within a sort of container. -
Hi @stingalleman
It cannot be a bug if it is only happening to you, We need to work out where the conflict is coming from. I cannot replicate the same issue on 2023 sp6.
FYI Spotlight Align and Distribute will work with non lighting devices.
Can you post a copy of the file? Or DM me the file? -
Does this work with symbols? Or should the user convert to group first?
-
Morning Hive Mind.
I just had a customer ask me the following questions and as well as asking internally I thought you all might be able to offer some insight on a starting point.
"Is there any way to convert a drawn object in Vectorworks to Vectorscript? I really want to convert some of our symbol library to Plugin tools, but I need a way to get the Vectorscript that would draw the object as part of the tool."
Many thanks for anyone who can help. -
Hi Matt.
I tend to insert the hoists last. the other solution I had was to use a rigging object to attach the bumper to.(A Lighting Pipe with its class set to invisible).
Anyone else have any suggestions?
I think their might be an existing enhancement request for this (I will check)All the best

Anyone else see the title of this thread appear and click on the link hoping for drum kits, guitarists, risers, bass players?
Or was it just me?

Hi, I just tested in a new black file with the same fixtures and it works, I am in 2023 SP5. What SP are you on?
If you are on a current version, you might need to open the Vectorworks Updater app and perform a repair.
Let us know how you get on. -
Appreciate you are busy Chris but we have a trading team if you ever wanted to discover how to do that stuff. They can also do online 1 to1’s if that helps.

Can you duplicate the existing spanset and trim/split it?
Extrude along path?

Can you screenshot your resource manager for us?
-
I have a 'plain texture' which I apply during the create room dialogue if that makes sense?
-
You can create a worksheet of sheet layers, this is possible.
-
The Glow texture (Filament) will only show using Spotlight Preview or Realistic render mode. The output is also more accurate in these render styles.
To dim, Right click on bulb and select edit light and then adjust dimmer.

What you need to do is to make your customs symbols distributor objects.
The Symbol is just a symbol, it doesn't know know that its now a device simply by adding the consumer. The Lighting device is a PIO which was intended for use with the cable tools. To make distributor object you could modify existing content by duplicating and pasting symbol (geometry) inside.
-
If you update the Light Info Record to the latest version this will help.
You can also create a Graphic Legend, these are way quicker than the instrument summary tool and are available for free.
I enclose an example to get you going.
