  1. When you create a new sheet layer, if you have the "edit properties after creation" check box checked, a second dialogue opens up. In that dialogue box is a field for setting the DPI for the sheet. You can also select all of the sheet layers in the organization window and edit them at once after the fact.
  2. We have multiple referenced symbols from an overall project resource file. Almost every 5 minutes or so, these symbols will change appearance. They are symbols of typical apartment unit layouts, and either walls, doors or plumbing fixtures randomly move location in the referencing file. If you check back in the project resource file, everything is in the correct place. The fix so far as been to edit the troubled symbol by moving something and then moving it back, or some other minute task. Then we save the resource file and update the reference. This fixes the problem, but only until the next symbol bugs out. Anybody else trying to use the Vectorworks Workgroup workflow and experiencing this issue?
  3. We've actually just come across an issue with this. While tracing over a referenced CAD file, our grid snaps were turned off and the precision was set to .001". We thought that this would keep us relatively accurate. However, just because the precision is set to .001 doesn't mean that your objects are limited to those constraints. Lines would show a dimension of 2.125" in the OIP, but if you increased the precision, you would see they were really 2.12498023". The issue arose only after we attempted to connect endpoints and midpoints of these lines and walls that we realized the blunder. Objects that were thought to be orthogonal were actually slightly off, creating various issues 3D geometry and CAD exports for our consultants.
  4. Does anybody make 3D native vectorworks content or do you have to download it all as either a 3D .dwg or sketch up file and then import/convert it?
  5. So I tried moving the DLVP in these files to Layer Import referencing. The issue I have now is that there are multiple instances of the same class in the file. So now the class overrides I try need to be done multiple times for each object. Is there a way to merge classes together when using a layer reference? Has anybody even encountered this type of problem before?
  6. Can we please get a proper and functional curtainwall/storefront tool?? How is it possible that in 2014 you can't insert a door into the curtain wall or have more than 3 horizontal mullions??
  7. Oh, no offense taken at all. They very well could have moved slightly, but FWTO should still have worked. The entire vectorworks workflow for complex roof shapes is cumbersome and fluky in my opinion.
  8. Some form of feedback would have definitely been helpful. I see your point about the gap at the ridges, but when they were created, they were "put together" using VWs snaps. I can't be more accurate than the program will allow. And the second time I created the geometry, I followed the same steps as before, which should have yielded the same result, but was somehow more accurate.
  9. Vincent, I tried you're suggestion but to no avail. I deleted the troublesome objects and recreated everything. When in doubt, start from scratch!...
  10. Yes we are running 2014. https://tmsarchitects.sharefile.com/d/s0bcc19b2eb14a169 There is a link to download the file. It is a little on the large side.
  11. I've tried various configurations of the top bounding specification. Set to layer height, set to layer elevation, deleting the offset (but then it reappears when I try to fit the wall to the roof again). I even tried changing the layer the wall was on.
  12. Correct, it is made with roof faces, not a roof object. Creating a new wall gives me the same result. It acts as if there is a horizontal plane set at that point, yet there is no geometry there that I can find.
  13. update: interior walls will follow the geometry of roof face. but they only occur on one side of the ridge, none of them so far cross over the ridge.
  14. Here it is in picture format. I'm fairly certain that this has worked for me in the past, as in last week. And that was with the same wall type and roof thickness. The only thing different is the size of this building and the height difference in the layers.
  15. It's not that it won't tilt the top of the wall to follow the slope, its that the wall will not follow the roof faces to the peak of a gable.
  16. Has anybody else experienced issues when trying to fit walls to the geometry of a roof face above? The roof face is sloping and set to a layer above the layer of the walls. The walls extend upward to the roof face, but only to the flat plane of where the roof face and wall first intersect. The wall does not follow the roof face up the slope. The roof face does extend over the whole of the wall and deleting and redrawing both entities does not result in fixing the problem.
  17. I am able to override the classes in the DLVP fine in model space. However, once the section viewport is cut, all overrides disappear and the content reverts back to original settings. What would alleviate the problem all together would be materials/components that had the ability to have an elevation display setting as well as a "cut" display setting when being viewed through a section viewport.

    Stair Bug??

Renaming the linetype appears to have fixed the problem. Is this a known bug? Did I stumble across something new? Or did I just do something wrong?

    Stair Bug??

Every time I try to edit a custom stair I get a dialogue box that says "Line Type dashed short 01 already exists in this file, what do you want to do" and displays a list of overwriting or renaming options. This box pops up no less than 5 times when I try to do anything on the stair. Anybody else seeing this issue or is it just me?
  20. Thanks Jim, I'll email that over today.
  21. I have a fairly large project that we are trying to tackle using the strategy outlined in the Vectorworks White-Paper "Best Practices for Workgroup BIM using Vectorworks". For the most part, everything has been functioning as planned. However, once we moved onto creating section sheet files, the DLVP that we are referencing to the sheet file will not allow any class overrides to take place. I've tried overrides in the DLVP itself as well as trying to allow it to assume the overrides of the section viewport on the sheet. We are using Vectorworks Architect 2014 SP2 w/ Renderworks. Thanks, Josh
